The 700 Club - September 14, 2021

Viola thought her life was over when her drug addiction landed her in prison. Even after getting clean, she feared her past would keep her from ever earning an honest living. But she decided to trust in God and in a time-honored principle. Watch ... Read Transcript

- [Gordon] How was she healed?

In a snap.

- On today's 700 Club.

(uplifting music)

(intriguing music)

Well, welcome to "The 700 Club."

A rare high-risk threateningfloods have been issued

by the National Weather Service

on the ground near Galveston.

Overnight, HurricaneNicholas made landfall

on the Texas coast.

It's now a tropical storm,

and heavy rain, up to 12 inches, expected.

- Parts of Louisiana are also in the path

of this deadly storm, andsome areas are still reeling

from Hurricane Ida just two weeks ago.

Here's CBN's Jenna Browder.

(whooshing)

- Hurricane Nicholas hit theTexas coastline overnight

with wind gusts up to 95 miles an hour.

But the biggest threat is flooding

from heavy rains expectedover the next few days

in Texas and Louisiana.

(wind rushing)

The category one hurricanemaking landfall over Texas

early Tuesday morning, prompting a state of emergency.

The big concern, torrential rain

as Nicholas might dump asmuch as one to four inches

of rain per hour, and up to20 inches total in some areas.

- Biggest impacts today,

upper Texas coast, southwesternparts of Louisiana,

where we have a high riskto lives and property.

- [Jenna] The NationalWeather Service issuing

a rare high risk forlife-threatening flash floods.

On the ground near Galveston.

- This rain not only lookslike it's coming in sideways,

I can tell you down hereit is coming in sideways.

Just a torrential rain,

more than I've felt ina storm in a long time.

- [Jenna] The heavy rainsbringing more flooding

as the storm moves east.

- But flooding, there's going to be.

Look at the bands of heavy rain now.

Back edge from Houston toward Galveston.

Heavier rain now in thesouthwest parishes, Louisiana.

We'll continue to track thatrain through this morning,

and then this afternoon.

We're also gonna haveheavy rain this afternoon.

- [Jenna] The stormthreatening areas hit hard

by Hurricane Harvey in2017, including Houston,

where they could see up to a foot of rain.

The port of Houston, schools,

and medical facilities all closed.

- What I can assure people in this city

is that we are as ready for this storm

as we could be for any storm.

- [Jenna] In Louisiana, another state of emergency,

where they're stillreeling from Hurricane Ida.

New Orleans now a flash flood watch.

- I know that bracing for another storm

while we're still responding to

and trying to recover from Hurricane Ida

is not the positionthat we wanted to be in,

but it is a situationthat we are prepared for.

- And more than 100,000 people

are still without power in Louisiana.

Nicholas is expectedto delay that recovery.

Jenna Browder, CBN News.

- Well, Operation Blessingteams are on the ground

in Louisiana now, and beingdeployed to help people there.

But this is going to be horrific flooding.

12 inches of rain is an enormous amount,

so just for Galveston, for Houston,

but all those areas inLouisiana that were affected

by Hurricane Ida, they'regoing to get another dose.

So we want to be there for people in need.

If you wanna be of help,

all you have to do is giveus a call, 1-800-700-7000,

or you can write to OperationBlessing Disaster Relief Fund,

CBN Center, VirginiaBeach, Virginia, 23463.

Just put OperationBlessing Disaster Relief

on the memo line,

and your gift will goto help people in need.

Well, in other news,

workers are still trying to restore power

to parts of Louisiana after Hurricane Ida

left more than a millionpeople in the dark.

The massive outage has raised questions

about how to improve the power grid.

John Jessup has more on that story

from our CBN News bureau in Washington.

John?

- That's right, Gordon.

After Hurricane Katrina,

Louisiana spent billionsimproving its levy system.

After Ida, it's clear thepower grid needs help.

The storm knocked out everysingle transmission line

bringing electricity into New Orleans.

CBN's Caitlin Burke reports on the plans

to fortify the grid.

A little over two weeks ago,

Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana.

Today, more than 100,000people still don't have power.

While that's progress to theinitial 1.1 million people

left in the dark,

it serves as a major wakeup call to a long-term need.

- We need to improve our infrastructure.

We can't continue to build things back

to the current standard.

If the current standard were enough,

we wouldn't have lost them.

- [Caitlin] Althoughthe immediate priority

is getting the lights back on,

state and local officialsare focused on plans

to keep such widespreadoutages from happening again.

- It is hard for me to imagine

that we will ever have anelectrical infrastructure

that can withstand astorm of this severity

without any disruptions,

but we know we canminimize those disruptions.

- [Caitlin] Easier said than done

when faced with destructionlike this mingled transformer

and damage to all eight of the lines

bringing electricity intothe city of New Orleans.

One option being consideredgoing forward is micro grids.

- Where you don't have such a massive grid

like a big, you know, one failure

leads to the failure of theentire electrical system,

but can we put power generation

in a smaller part of our city?

So we don't lose power to the whole city

if we have 15 little micro grids.

- [Caitlin] Each could operate on its own,

able to disconnect from themain grid in case of a problem

or ahead of a majorevent, like a hurricane.

- Within our city government,

we have a pilot programusing some federal funds

to really explore what that means.

- [Caitlin] Another potentialsolution, burying power lines.

- [Ramsey] Putting our distribution lines,

the electrical lines thatgo from home to home,

to a power generation source.

Those lines are above ground

largely in the city ofNew Orleans right now.

I find that quite galling,

and frankly, as I livedthrough these events.

- [Caitlin] Some parts of theNew Orleans business district

already have underground lines,

and those neighborhoods sawpower restored more quickly.

- The problem with doing thatthroughout an entire city

is it's incredibly expensive.

Our estimate on doing undergrounding

of electrical distribution lines

is about $3 million per mile.

What I would say is if the money's there,

we're always gonna figureout a way to operate it

and do it as efficiently as possible.

- The sheer cost ofmodernizing the power grid

is why many utilities have yet to make

the necessary improvements.

That could change, however,

as President Biden'sinfrastructure package

includes $73 billion togo towards grid updates.

Still, that figure fallswoefully short of the $5 trillion

that many experts estimate is needed

for a complete grid overhaul.

Caitlin Burke, CBN News.

- Thank you, Caitlyn.

Turning now to the latest onthe coronavirus and vaccines.

A new review of data concludes most people

do not need a COVID booster shot.

That review published inThe Lancet Medical Journal

by a group of topinternational scientists,

including two who are leaving the FDA.

Their departures partly over disagreements

with the Biden administration'smove for boosters.

In the article, the scientistsargue more evidence is needed

to justify booster shots, andthat requiring an extra shot

would make it more difficult

for billions of people worldwide

who haven't yet received the vaccine.

The Biden administrationhas proposed giving boosters

eight months after the initial shots.

A group of advisers to the FDA is set

to review that data this week.

Well, California governorGavin Newsom's response

to the COVID pandemic hashim fighting to keep his job

with voters making their voices heard

in a recall election today.

That is allowed by state law

if enough registered voterssign a petition supporting it.

CBN's Tara Mergener hasmore on the election

that's getting attentionfrom the White House.

- President Biden is well aware

that this election hasnational consequences,

and is standing beside thegovernor to show his support.

Other Democrats are circlingthe wagons in the home stretch.

- Good morning, San Leandro.

- [Tara] Californiagovernor, Gavin Newsom,

in the fight of his political life.

- This election is amatter of life and death.

- [Tara] President Biden among Democrats

rushing to Newsom's side before the vote.

- California, keep GavinNewsom, and send a message-

(crowd cheering)

- [Tara] His appearancefollowing last week's visit

by Vice President Harris.

- We are here to say today,we fight for Gavin Newsom.

- [Tara] And a boost fromformer President Obama.

- Your vote could be the difference.

- [Tara] Newsom won the office in 2018

with a whopping 62% of the vote.

Now he's facing trouble,

triggered largely by hisresponse to the COVID pandemic,

as well as other issueslike skyrocketing crime

and homelessness in the state.

Among the 46 challengers,

former Olympic goldmedalist, Caitlin Jenner,

and businessman, John Cox,

campaigning with a bear by his side,

and popular conservativetalk radio host, Larry Elder,

who's leading the pack by far.

The first things I wanna dois repeal the requirement

for state workers that theyhave to be tested once a week

and they have to wear masks.

- [Tara] With Hollywoodactress/activist, Rose McGowan,

making waves with her endorsement.

- It gives me no greatpleasure to call out Democrats.

I was a Democrat.

- [Tara] A Republican wincould potentially lead

to Democrats losing theirmajority in the US Senate.

For example, if 88-year-olddemocratic senator,

Dianne Feinstein, were to retire,

the governor would pick the replacement,

and that could tip the balance

in what is right nowan evenly split Senate.

Still, the latest pollsappear to be on Newsom's side,

according to 538, about56% of California voters

want to keep him in office.

- The evidence right now shows

that the recall's gonna fail.

- [Tara] No matter the outcome,

pundits say all eyes willstill be on California

come next year's midterms.

- What happens in California

is gonna be part of that larger narrative.

- If more than 50% of Californiansvote to recall Newsom,

the opponent with the most votes

will be the Golden State's next governor.

In Washington, I'm TaraMergener, CBN News.

- Thank you, Tara.

Gordon, as Tara said atthe top of her package,

a consequential election withripple effects nationwide.

- Oh, huge ripple effects.

Newsom, at one point, was being touted

as a presidential material,

but now he's struggling to stay in office.

If you're in California, makesure you're voting today.

Your vote will absolutely count.

Terry?

Well, still ahead, struggling to swallow,

throat feeling bruised, and a voice only a whisper.

This singer sufferedthrough several doctors

for several months.

So how was she finally healed overnight?

She'll tell you herself.

That's later on today's show.

Plus, follow the money, findthe terrorists, stop the flow,

and you hit them where it hurts.

The effectiveness of sanctions

in the war on terror is undeniable,

so why is the Biden administrationreversing that course?

That's the question coming up.

(intriguing music)

- Well, after 9/11, Americawent to war on terror,

and while our attention was focused

on US military forces overseas,

here at home, the TreasuryDepartment was deploying

another weapon to counter the enemy.

National securitycorrespondent, Caitlin Burke,

takes a closer look atAmerica's financial warriors.

(whooshing)

- In the aftermath of 9/11,

the Treasury Departmentmade an important discovery.

If you follow the money, you can find the terrorists,

and if you disrupt the flow, you can stop the attack.

- There's this huge gap inbetween diplomacy and military,

that 90% of our nationalsecurity issues fall within.

- [Caitlin] And just like that,

a department previouslyinvestigating money laundering

became a major national securityand foreign policy player.

- And we really did developa whole new approach,

a whole new set of tools,a whole new toolbox,

to put at the disposal of the president

and of the National Security Council.

- [Caitlin] That resulted

in the Office of Terrorismand Financial Intelligence.

Danny Glaser joined as ajunior member at its inception

under President Bush, thenunder the Obama administration,

he rose to Assistant Secretary.

Over the span of the two administrations,

Glaser helped foster an approachthat took his department

to an even more sophisticatedand strategic level.

We would focus on a target,

whether that target was a grouplike Al-Qaeda or Hezbollah,

or we would focus on a jurisdiction

like Iran and North Korea,

we were trying to understandwhat their weaknesses were,

we were trying to understandwhere we could hurt them.

And then try to implementa strategy to do just that.

- [Caitlin] The results were undeniable.

For example, in 2005 Glaserand his team froze North Korea

out of the International Financial System,

a move that brought the regimeto the negotiating table.

- Which they said, youfound out a way to hurt us.

For the first time, youfound out a way to hurt us.

And we had, we'd found out away to reach into Pyongyang

and impact the people thatwe were trying to impact.

- Successive administrationshave learned from one another

on how to craft these executive orders,

how to conduct financialdiplomacy with friends and allies,

and have built upon that, brick by brick, step-by-step.

- [Caitlin] MarshallBillingslea succeeded Glaser

under President Donald Trump.

As a part of Trump'smaximum pressure campaign,

treasury built upon the economic warfare

already waged on countries like Iran.

- Hezbollah in Lebanon toHamas in the Gaza Strip

to the Houthis in Yemen,

as we cut into Iran's terror budget,

we choked off hugeamounts of revenue streams

to these terror groups.

- [Caitlin] Billingslea'steam also innovated

new forms of economic coercion.

They ranged from shuttingoff Venezuelan president,

Nicolas Maduro's cash access

by essentially making thecountry's bonds worthless,

to going after China, a countrylargely seen as untouchable

because of how closely intertwined

its economy is with America's.

- There has been a continuousthread of consensus

on the concept thatchoking off illicit revenue

through these financial measuresis the right thing to do,

and particularly to do in lieu of

having to deploy our armedforces into conflict.

- [Caitlin] That is, until now.

Billingslea says rather thanbuilding upon these measures

taken during the pastthree administrations,

Biden seems to be determinedto reverse course.

- Within days of taking office,

one of the first things thatBiden administration did

in this regard was to remove

the Foreign Terrorist Organization,

the FTO, as they call it,

the Foreign Terrorist Organization,

designation of the Houthis in Yemen.

How did the Houthis respond?

By a massive upsurge inunmanned aerial vehicle attacks,

ballistic missile attacks, and other terror attacks.

- [Caitlin] There's also Iran,

where he says the Bidenadministration is removing

financial pressure to getthem back into a nuclear deal,

and Afghanistan, where theTaliban's Islamic Emirate

is the size of Texas,

and there are rumblingsthe Biden administration

will recognize it as alegitimate government.

- But if they do that,

they're going to start reversing all of,

not just the Trump administrationfinancial pressures,

but the financial pressure that's existed

on the Taliban since 1999.

- [Caitlin] Glaser believesit's still too soon to say

what Biden will do tothe sanctions program,

but doesn't see the newadministration veering away

from a tool that's provideddecades of leverage.

- Because, A, it's been proveneffective, B, it's overt,

so that it's something that could be done

that they could point to

to demonstrate that theycare about a problem,

and see, again, it's a setof tools and authorities

that fall in between diplomacy and war

that is very, very hard to find.

- Still, history has proven

that in order for economicpressure to be effective,

it must be employed alongsidea clear diplomatic message

and reinforced with a crediblethreat of military action.

Not something thatcritics say we're seeing

from the Biden administration.

Caitlin Burke, CBN News.

- Well, this is somethingthat is quite clearly working.

And when you look at follow the money,

and so how do we stop Hamasgetting money from Moran?

How do we stop Hezbollahfrom getting money?

How do we stop North Korea from developing

intercontinental ballisticmissile technology?

Well, you have to usesanctions in order to do that,

and if you're not willing todo that, what level are you?

Now, on one side of the ledger,

you can look at countries like Cuba

that have been undersanctions now for decades.

Has it changed anythinginternally at Cuba?

And I think the answer is no.

You look at Iran, has anythinghappened to that government?

If anything, that governmenthas a tighter control.

There was a Green Revolution, but it was quashed.

They deployed snipersagainst a civilian population

in order to stop that protest.

So when you're looking at a government

that is quite willingto use its own military

against a civilian population,

sanctions, I don't think, work.

And if anything, whatthey do is actually harm

those same civilians.

But it's not a full-on, full off.

You have to follow the money

and you certainly have tochoke off their ability

to develop more weapons

to extend their terror networksoutside of their state.

Cuba is an example of how it doesn't work,

and yet it does work.

Cuba does not export terrorism.

They were trying to be a clientstate of the Soviet Union

back in the '50s and '60s,

but that's no more becausethe sanctions work.

So for the Biden administration,

please follow what previousadministrations have done.

Don't change these rules.

The sanctions against the Taliban

go back to the Clinton administration.

So what is it about everysingle administration since

that recognizes they don'tneed vigorous funding?

And if they get vigorous funding,

what's going to happen to their neighbors?

And more importantly, what's going to happen

to our own interests righthere in the United States?

This is one where the implementationof ideas really matters

and how you get into thedetails really matters.

And looking at some of the missteps

of the Biden administration,

whether that's thewithdrawal from Afghanistan,

they didn't handle the details very well,

or what they're currentlyproposing in terms of testing,

where do we even have enough test kits

to do what they're proposing,

where 30 to 40 million Americans

get tested every single week?

So the details really matter,

and I hope they have policy personnel

really taking a look at the details.

This isn't something whereyou just shut it off,

because if you do, you'regoing to open the spigot

to terror groups around the world.

Terry?

- Well, up next, battling drug addiction,

pregnant with her secondchild, and in prison.

How did this woman, formerly on food stamps,

wind up with a master's degreeand a job in counseling?

She'll tell you herself right after this.

(uplifting music)

- Liquid love pouring through her.

That's what Viola says she felt

when she realized how much God loved her.

It also led her from being anex-con living on food stamps

to getting a master's degree

and becoming a licensed counselor.

How did she make such a total turnaround?

Well, take a look.

(uplifting music)

- [Narrator] Viola Hagues

is a successful licensed counselor.

It's a long way fromwhere she was in 1996,

in prison, battling drug addiction,

and expecting her second child.

- I just felt like wasn't no hope for me,

and that one day I was goingto end up dying on those drugs.

- [Narrator] Her prisonsentence was short.

However, it was longenough for her to know

she never wanted to return.

So she got clean andwent straight to church.

- I didn't want to take the chance

of messing up my daughter's life.

She was six months old when I got out.

I just kept telling myself,I can't do this again.

I just cannot do this to another child,

'cause I wasn't therefor my oldest daughter.

- [Narrator] At first,Viola had a hard time

trusting God would take care of her.

Instead, she believed her drug conviction

would keep her from being hired for a job

that would provide for her two daughters.

- Even though I was clean and sober,

I still felt like trash.

- [Narrator] Thatchanged when she realized

how much God loves her.

- It was like I could feel His liquid love

just pour through me,

and I had never experienced that before.

The more He showed me how good He was,

the more I just wanted to experience that.

And I also wanted to please Him.

- [Narrator] One ofthose ways was to tithe.

Viola had learned about it in church.

- I got to see God reallyprove Himself to me.

He said, you know, proveHim, you know, test Him,

and He showed me thatHe really was with me

and that tithing is a principleof His that really works.

- [Narrator] At first,Viola used a portion

of her food stamps to buygroceries for others in need.

- It was scary at times, but I knew really too

I could fall back on my motheror father if I needed to,

but I didn't want to use them,

I wanted God to show me what He could do.

- [Narrator] And He did.

In 1996, Viola was offered

and completed a free trainingprogram to become a CNA,

a certified nursing assistant.

- I was able to get thejob, not only the job,

I got the certification, which everybody was saying,

they not gonna give you a certification,

not with all those chargesyou have on your record.

- [Narrator] In three years,

Viola was off government assistance,

working nights as a CNA,

and supplementing her incomeby becoming a hairstylist.

Still, Viola was able to carefor her daughters and tithe.

- God gives me the abilityto wake up every morning

to go to jobs to make that money,

and so I need to be surethat I honor Him with it.

- [Narrator] Then in 2012,

as Viola started takingcollege courses online,

she finally began to see thather past didn't define her.

- I'm becoming more bolder and confident

in who God really made me to be.

I'm truly believing in myself.

- [Narrator] After seven years,

she completed a master's degree

and became a licensed counselor.

Now Viola was workingwith people in recovery

from drug addiction anddoubling her income.

- So He showed me thatthis is where I wanted you,

this your purpose and your destiny,

and I feel fulfilled and I love it.

- [Narrator] Recently, Violaincreased our giving again

by becoming a CBN partner.

- How they help thepeople in the military,

and just people in need,

the stories, the testimoniesof how the people

would be healed and they sitand pray and stuff like that,

all that, I just love that,I can feel the sincerity

and I knew that that was a real ministry

that was doing the work for God,

and I just wanted to support that.

- [Narrator] Today,Viola is still on track

for more income growth.

- It's amazing.

And I never thought in a million years

that it would be this way, I just didn't.

But that's how it is when you serve God.

I just see Him as somebody I can trust

and take all of my problems to,

so I don't see why I can'tshare my money with Him

and trust Him to, you know, one thing I found out,

you can't beat God giving, and He's proven that to me.

So my desire is to help souls,

and I think the more youhave a desire to help others,

the more God will do for you

and the more He expandsyou because of that desire,

not for selfish gain, but tobe a blessing to other souls.

So that's what it's about for me.

- Well, that's the secret.

It's not for selfish gain.

What's the purpose of money?

So you can help more people.

Get that through your head.

When you set your heart on helping others,

boy, God comes through andHe wants to reward that,

He wants to provide for that.

Why, because He's alwayslooking for people

who want to help His children.

He's always looking for those who say,

"Here I am, Lord, send me."

Here's a verse for you,it's from Psalm 37.

"Take delight in the Lord."

Viola did that. She got liquid love.

"Take delight in the Lord,

and he will give you your heart's desires.

Commit everything you do to the Lord.

Trust him, and he will help you."

Now, those heart's desires,

you have to have those lineup with the will of God.

This isn't some blankcheck that, you know,

if you've got some evil desireor some personal gain desire

in your heart, don'texpect God to honor that.

But if your heart's desire,

if your will lines up with His will,

then wonderful things can happen.

And together you can dothings you can never imagine.

For Viola, here she is, she'saddicted, she's got a record,

she's got multiple problems,

and she turns it all over to God,

and God shows her how much He loves her.

He just baptizes her in love.

She gets the liquid love,

and then she starts getting good ideas

of how she can help people,

how she can become a nursing assistant,

how she can become acounselor, how she can improve.

Why does she want to improve?

So she can help more people.

If you have that as your heartdesire, God will honor it.

He will give you increase.

Just what happened withher can happen to you

if you just follow the same principle.

Terry?

- Well, choosing between payingbills or buying groceries,

that's what Christina has to face

whenever she has a flare up oflupus and simply can't work.

Sometimes this single mom hasnothing to feed her two boys.

Well, that's when Christina says

she feels as if she's drowning

and taking her children along with her.

(uplifting music)

- [Narrator] Christina and her boys

have been through a lot of challenges,

but their love for oneanother sustained them.

- They keep me going, they keep me strong.

They are the reasonwhy I wake up every day

and work and do the best I can.

- [Narrator] Christina suffers from lupus

and has gone through many seasons

where she wasn't able to work.

- There are several times inmy life that I have had flares

where I have been bedridden.

No matter how hard it was,I always moved forward,

I always kept on trying to work.

It makes it hard to keep a steady job.

choosing between payingbills and groceries,

there's times that you don'tknow what you're gonna do.

You don't know how to face your children

and when it's dinnertime or they're hungry

and you really don't have anything,

and almost feels like you're drowning

and you're taking your children with you.

- [Narrator] Her church,OpenDoor, in Burleson, Texas

has partnered with OperationBlessing for 30 years.

When she found out shecould turn to them for help,

everything changed.

- If you had a needand if you were hurting

and you were broken, theywere there to bless you.

And when I leave,

I always feel empoweredand I feel refreshed,

and I feel like I'm not alone.

The food that you receive, the quality is great.

The kids get excited.

I get excited because it's like,oh, what do we get to make,

what do we get to have, you know?

You don't have to makethat choice to pay a bill

or to get food.

And you feel good as a parent,

being able to put that onthe table for your kids.

- [Narrator] Now Christinais in the process

of starting a home-based business.

She says she will always be grateful

for Operation Blessing partners

who gave when she needed it most.

- Thank you.

The food from OperationBlessing has helped me

get back on my feet, andnot just by providing food,

but providing a good examplefor me and my children.

When I do have, when you give something,

you don't have to thinkabout it, just give it.

The partners of Operation Blessing,

they have just totally changed my life

and my children's lives.

- You know, one of the thingsthat was most poignant to me

that Christina said was,"I feel like I'm not alone

when I get this kind of help,

when people are standing by with me,

when their hands are reaching out to me,

providing something that allowsme to maintain my family,

to be a mom to my kids, toprovide for my household."

and also how we get tohave a little bit of heaven

here on earth.

There are some wonderfultestimonies in here

Gordon?

- Well, when you join The 700 Club,

you're helping people all over the world,

like Brittany, who lives in Honduras.

This four-year-old and hermother had to make multiple trips

to get water, climbingup and down a mountain.

And before you helped them,

the water was so dirty thatdrinking it made Brittany sick.

- [Narrator] Rebecca is a single mom

who lives with her four-year-olddaughter, Brittany,

in this mountain community in Honduras.

Their only source of water is a pila,

a cement structure made tocollect water from a stream

higher up on the mountain.

But that stream is dangerous

because of the people who use it

for washing clothes and bathing.

And getting to the pilahas been difficult too.

- [Translator] The path is long.

Getting there is very hard.

You have to go up, then godown several times a day

because we need water.

- [Narrator] Even at age four,

Brittany seemed to knowthe water was dangerous.

- [Translator] Children shouldnot drink that dirty water.

- [Narrator] Unfortunately, they had to drink it.

Then Brittany got sick.

- [Translator] She woke up and said,

"Mommy, my stomach hurts, my head hurts."

We got scared when shevomited through her nose.

I was afraid my daughter would die.

My daughter is the one whogives me strength to live.

And when I looked at her,I was afraid of losing her.

- [Narrator] The next morning

Rebecca took her to the hospital.

- [Translator] After she recovered,

the doctor told me to putdrops of chlorine in the water

or put it in the sun to try to purify it

as much as possible.

- [Narrator] When Operation Blessing

learned about the communityand tested the water,

we confirmed that itwas dangerous to drink.

Then working with membersof that community,

we dug trenches and laidpipe that brought water

from another sourcehigher in the mountain.

We restored a 15,000-gallon storage tank

that had fallen out of use,

and added chlorinationto purify the water.

When it was finished, Rebeccasaid this was the first time

in her life that Brittanydid not have to go

and collect water or drink dirty water.

- [Translator] My daughter is happy

because she has water here at home.

She bathes whenever she needs, and even plays in the water.

To the friends who supportOperation Blessing, I thank you,

and I hope you will continueto do this work for others too.

- And that thank you goes to you.

If you're a member of The 700 Club,

you're the hero of that story.

Because of you, we were ableto go to Brittany, to Rebecca,

and say, let us provideclean drinking water for you.

Let's have a water system.

Let's make sure that youcan have the assurance,

that you can have freshwater every single day.

You don't have to climb a mountain for it.

We wanna bring it right where you are.

For most of us in the UnitedStates, probably 99% of us,

you know, we turn onthe faucet in our home,

we don't have any questionthat the water is pure,

that it's drinkable, thatwe can bathe with it,

we can cook with it, we can drink it,

but for many people around the world,

they don't have that security.

And the water system, the Living Water program

and Operation Blessing hasbeen operating for decades.

It's wonderful what happenswhen people get together

and say yes, we want to help,

and we wanna do that consistently.

Now, when you join The 700 Club,

you automatically joinwith Operation Blessing,

because a portion of everygift goes into the work

of Operation Blessing tohelp people here at home

to provide food for thehungry right here in America,

provide disaster relief,

would then provide surgeries,livelihood programs,

clean drinking water forpeople around the world.

You're a part of allof it when you join us.

- Struggling to swallow andunable to talk above a whisper,

Dianne Garvis feared the lumpsin her throat were cancerous.

Numerous doctors had noexplanation for them,

and none of the treatments they prescribed

gave her any relief.

Dianne became desperate,

and then suddenly overnightshe was supernaturally healed.

- What felt like a lumpnow was multiple lumps.

And when I would swallow,it was literally like,

and it would take time toget past four and five.

whatever was in my throat.

- [Narrator] As acontemporary Christian singer

and ministry leader,

Dianne Garvis couldn'tafford to lose her voice,

which is exactly whathappened in the fall of 2019.

- It started with (clearing throat),

struggling, feeling a little bruised

to talking and having towhisper because it hurt to talk.

- [Narrator] Dianne's husband, John.

- Watching her trying toswallow, it looked so painful,

and I was helpless to help her.

- [Narrator] Adding to their concerns,

they feared it was cancer,

since Dianne had losther mother to the disease

just months earlier.

- My fear started with, did I make myself this sick

and cause something thatbad because of the stress?

- And I was very worried

and we had been prayinga lot, and just not sure.

- [Narrator] Several monthsand several doctors later,

they still had no answers.

And none of the prescribedmedications or treatment helped.

In fact, it had gotten worse,

and Dianne was afraid shemight lose her ministry

and God's calling on her life.

- And the fact that I was losing my voice,

literally losing the instrumentGod has blessed me with

for my ministry to share,

without my voice, there goes my ministry.

- It was very frustrating

because this situationwasn't getting better.

- [Narrator] Still, theyknew from experience

God could do a miracle.

Diagnosed with juvenilerheumatoid arthritis at 13,

Dianne was told she's never walk again.

She was 24 when she walked down the runway

of the 1984 America's Miss Pageant

to receive the NationalMiss Florida title.

It would teach her an important lesson

about trusting God with her healing.

- And I knew then that iswhy God placed me there

for that moment.

It was to remind people thatHe sees them, do not be afraid.

He is still in the healing business.

- [Narrator] It had been seven months

when that healing would come.

Dianne was watching "The700 Club" right before bed

when she heard Terry pray.

- There's someone else, you're a singer,

you've lost your voice for some reason.

God's giving that gift backto you so you can praise Him.

Just begin to use it, andyou'll see you have it again.

- I grabbed it, I received it,

and then I just tried to sing,

and I just whispered:

♪ All to Jesus, I surrender ♪

I called my husband and son.

I'm like, "Listen tothis word of knowledge.

I've been healed."

Still couldn't talk.

Didn't, like, happen that second.

- [Narrator] Later on thatnight, something woke her up.

- It was like a rubberband that wide had popped.

I woke up feeling thelumps that I was struggling

to swallow passed, go down,

and my voice came back,

and I miraculously thenand there was healed.

- Praise God that we'refinally getting the healing

we've been praying for.

- [Narrator] Immediately,Dianne was talking

and singing like she always had.

Soon, she was back to leadingher ministry, Tiaras of Hope,

where she presents tiaras andsashes to children and adults

with cancer in hospitals and hospice.

The Garvises want everyone to know

to never give up on thepromises of God for healing.

- There's only one answer,and it's trusting God,

knowing that only throughHim all things can be done.

- Whisper the name of Jesus.

All power, all of ouranswers are in His name.

- He does know who we are, He does see us,

He does know our needs.

He puts us in families

so that we can be praying with others,

others can be praying for us.

God intends for us to berelational with each other

and with Him, andthrough that relationship

comes the power that Heextends to each one of us.

You know, His hand is extended.

He says He is the cleft inthe rock that we can run to

when we have deep needs.

Today, I know there are many of you

who are struggling withthings in your own life,

and even as you're watching this story,

you're saying, I want Godto respond to me like that.

We believe that God notonly can but that He will,

and we wanna pray withyou and for you today.

We have some more reportsto encourage your faith

before we do that.

Gordon, this is Pamela, wholives in Benson, North Carolina.

She took a serious fallfrom an outside deck

and broke her neck.

She endured severe painfor more than 32 years.

The morning of June 11th, this year,

she was watching this programand heard you, Gordon, say,

"There is someone witha very bad neck injury.

God is healing all thelittle chips and fragments."

By faith, Pamela received theword of knowledge for herself,

and the pain left.

She went to her doctor who, after seeing her CT scans

and x-rays, said there wasno trace of previous injury

and that her bones were perfectly healed.

Couldn't even see thatshe'd had that injury.

- Wow.- Wow.

- That's a miracle.- Praise God.

- God wants to do miracles.

Here's Denver from Puerto Rico.

Had extreme sinus drainage for months.

It was so debilitating,he had to sleep upright.

He had digestive issuescaused by the drainage.

Now, just last month, August 20, 2021,

watching "The 700 Club," Terry said,

"Someone else, you havechronic, and I mean chronic,

issue with your sinuses.

Constant draining.

It affects your voice, your swallowing,

even your stomach is upset from it.

God is healing that condition for you.

It is just going to dry up.

You will not have the problem anymore."

Well, as soon as Denver heard the word,

the drainage dried up.

He hasn't had any sinus problems since.

Now, you just saw an amazing story.

Here's Dianne, she's got lumps, she's got fear of cancer,

she's losing her voice, all of these things.

And then she's praying andshe's asking God for a miracle.

She's asking God torelieve her of all of this.

And so she's watching a TV show,

and on that show there's aword of knowledge for her,

and she receives it immediately with joy,

so much so that she callsher husband and her son in

to witness it and tosay, "Here's the word.

Did you hear that?

Here's the word."

Now, her voice at that pointin time was still a whisper,

but with her whisper, shemade a decision to praise God.

Now, what happens when you do that?

You enter into Hispresence with thanksgiving.

So often we want toenter into His presence

with our complaint,

and then we went to checkour symptoms and say,

well, He hasn't done it yet,

and this hasn't happened for me,

and maybe I need to dosomething different,

and, you know, what's going on?

She didn't do any of that.

She was very simple, very childlike.

She believed, and she shared her belief.

And then she shared her praise.

What happens?

That very night, she ishealed, completely and totally.

If you do the same thing, you'll get the same result.

When you just look to Jesus,

the author and the finisher ofyour faith, you look to Him.

if He's gonna start your faith,

if He's gonna finish your faith,

He's going to do a good job.

Don't look to yourself.

Don't try to make a bargain,or pray if it's God's will,

or anything like that.

It's God's will.

He died for your healing.

He wants to heal.

What He's waiting foryou is that you to come

all in and believe.

So Terry and I are going to pray,

and you just have thatchildlike faith that says,

Daddy's promise I'm receiving right now.

Lord, we lift everyone to You right now.

All of those who have suffering,

all of those who are in pain, all of those who are in fear,

anyone with a fear of cancer,a diagnosis of cancer,

anyone who's afraid of COVID,Lord, we lift them all to You,

and Your perfect love willcast out all of this fear.

You watch over Your Word to perform it,

You watch over Yourchildren to preserve them.

So we receive every blessingthat You've given us,

everything You've done in heaven for us,

we receive it now and we command it now

that Your will would be doneon earth as it is in heaven.

You have given us authorityto command Your dominion,

so we declare the kingdomof heaven has drawn near.

We receive our healing now in Jesus' name.

Terry, God's given you someone

- There's someone, you havea condition with your lungs.

I don't really know what itis, it's like a sticky webbing

that's in your lungs.

God's healing thatcondition for you right now.

You're gonna be able to breathe freely

and you'll not havethe problem any longer.

- And, Shirley, God's just healed you

from cluster migraine headaches.

They're cluster headaches and severe.

God's healing it right now in Jesus' name.

That's all the time we have. Here's a word from John.

"Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."

God bless.
