Today escape from Afghanistan, four Americans are able
to flee but more reportsthat many people are being
held back from gettingout by the US government,
as the Afghan crisis takes a terrible toll
on President Biden's approval numbers.
Christian Author Max Lucadoannouncing a potentially
serious diagnosis.
We'll hear what it is andhow he plans to deal with it.
President Biden says climatechange is now everybody's
crisis, but is therereally a climate emergency?
We'll show you why historicalweather patterns may indicate
otherwise.
And assigning the timesfuturistic grocery store opening
in the Middle East with nocashiers, we'll tell you just
how it works.
Those stories and more today on NewsWatch.
We begin though in Afghanistanwhere four Americans
safely escaped over a landborder that daring escape
a week after the last Americantroops left the country
under the cover of night.
But hundreds of Americansreportedly set to leave
the country cannot becausethe Taliban is blocking them.
All of this while the Talibannow claims complete control
of Afghanistan after raisingits flag over the last province
fighting against the militant group.
Here's CBN senior Washingtoncorrespondent Tara Mergener.
- [Tara] Posted videoshow the Taliban fighting
over Panjshir Valley, the last rebel stronghold
north of Kabul.
(gun shot)
As the Taliban claims totalcontrol of Afghanistan,
the one to 200 remainingAmericans like Nasria,
still stranded are desperate to leave.
She says the Taliban isgoing door to door trying
to find them.
- Am I gonna end up leaving here?
Am I gonna end up dying here?
What's gonna happen?
- [Tara] Four Americansjust able to flee by land
are said to be in goodcondition and say the Taliban
did not try to stop them.
This is the first time aroute other than by air
has been facilitatedby the State Department
since US withdrawal.
As domestic flightsresumed in the country,
the Taliban is stationed at every airport.
Satellite images at Mazār-eSharīf show commercial planes
that could evacuate some600 passengers blocked over
and over by the Taliban.
The six private planescharter to rescue Christians
by two of media hostGlenn Beck's charities.
- They're not gonna allowAmerican citizens to leave until
they get full recognition fromthe United States of America.
- [Tara] But the WhiteHouse says there is no rush
to recognize the Talibanas the official government
of Afghanistan.
Appearing with DefenseSecretary Lloyd Austin
in the Middle East, Secretaryof State Anthony Blinken said
he is unaware of any"Hostage type situation."
- We're conducting a greatdeal of diplomacy on this
as we speak.
We've also been engaging withthe Taliban on this topic,
including in recent hours.
They said that they will letpeople with travel documents
freely depart.
We will hold them to that.
- [Tara] In Washington, I'mTara Mergener, CBN News.
- And it's not just theTaliban accused of keeping
evacuation flights from taking off,
Plan B a private grouporganizing evacuations
says it's the US State Department keeping
thousands of people including Americans
from leaving Afghanistan.
CBN News spoke with anAfghan woman who escaped
from the country at the lastminute with her children.
She asked us to hide heridentity and she told us
what the Taliban is doing in her country.
- They were just killing.
They were just beating women.
They're just beating kids,
in front of my eyes.
They are the same Talibanthat they were 20 years ago.
Even more worse.
This time, they are more experienced.
They have lots of technologyto find the people.
- Those people include herhusband, father and siblings
who worked alongside theUS government for years
who have been left behindwith potentially no way out
of the chaos and violence.
The Afghanistan crisishas taken a heavy toll
on President Biden'sapproval numbers according
to new polls.
The Washington Post-ABC Newspoll found that only 43%
now approve of Biden's jobperformance while 51% disapprove.
A key problem for Biden, only 36% of independents
now approve of him overall, while 57% disapprove.
Independents were a keyfactor in helping Biden win
the White House.
The results from the Post-ABCpoll are basically identical
to a poll from National Public Radio,
PBS and Marist College.

Turning overseas again to the Middle East.
We have more details on a surprising move
by Israel last week offering economic aid
to the Palestinian Authority.
So far, that decision isgetting mixed reviews.
The question is did theWhite House pressure
Israeli Prime Minister NaftaliBennett to make this overture
to the Palestinians?
Chris Mitchell brings us thislook at the reasons behind
Israel's unexpected action.
- [Chris] In what somewould call in about phase,
Israel is offering economic assistance
to the Palestinian Authorityand easing its blockade
of the Gaza Strip.
While it could indicate anIsraeli and US policy change
toward Palestinians, it's alsoan attempt to weaken Hamas.
- Our declared goal is todo whatever is possible
to improve the life of Palestiniansin terms of the economy,
security.
Also self-governanceand also public health
and fighting the pandemic.
And Israel has approved aseries of measures to improve
the economic situation.
- [Chris] The measuresinclude a $150 million loan,
as well as authorizing workpermits for an additional
15,000 Palestinians to work inside Israel.
The move follows asurprise meeting between
Defense Minister Benny Gantzand PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas,
the highest levelmeeting between the sides
in more than 10 years.
Former Israeli ambassadorto the UN Danny Danon says
while this coordination is necessary,
he believes the high profilemeeting was out of line.
- We have to remember that thePresident Abbas still support
terrorism.
They pay salaries to convicted terrorists.
And I don't think hedeserves the respect he got
from the Minister Gantz.
- [Chris] Danon says theymay have been pressured
from Washington since themeeting happened shortly
after Bennett's meetingwith President Biden.
- And I'm sure thisissue was also brought up
in the discussions between President Biden
and Prime Minister Bennett.
- [Chris] Foreign MinisterYair Lapid confirmed
this move doesn't meannegotiations are resuming.
Still Lapid says Israel isnot interested in weakening
the PA.
- I am a devoted believerin the two state solution.
I think this is the right solution.
But we'll have to admit tothe fact this is not feasible
in the current situation.
- [Chris] Reserve MajorGeneral Eitan Dangot
is former coordinatorof government activities
in the territories.
He believes the meetinghighlights the importance
of the West Bank to Israel, andis meant to strengthen Abbas
against Hamas.
- Hamas used lastescalation of May as the top
of the interest aroundthe Palestinian issue.
They took the leadershipand they will put themselves
as those who are, let'ssay caring and serving
the Palestinian people.
- [Chris] While the PArules Palestinian areas
in the West Bank, Hamasis gaining power there.
Hamas, which is dedicatedto Israel's destruction
has ruled Gaza since 2007when it seize control
from a PA faction.
- We are not interestedin going back to Gaza.
We are not interested inchoking Gaza in sieges.
We just wanna make sure nobody'sfiring rockets and missiles
on us.
And if Hamas willguarantee peace and quiet,
they can guarantee alsothe functioning economy
and humanitarian aidto the people of Gaza.

- Welcome back to Newswatch.
President Biden declared thatclimate change has become
"Everybody's crisis", ashe toured neighborhoods
flooded by the remnants ofHurricane Ida in New York Monday.
And from the destructionin the east to wildfires
in the west to flash floods that destroyed
an entire Tennessee townin a matter of hours.
Are these events signsof a climate emergency?
That's what the mediawould have you believe.
But as Dale Hurd explains, weather history
tells a much different story.
- [Reporter 1] The signs are all there.
- [Dale] The United Nations hasdeclared a climate emergency
calling it a code red for humanity.
- [Reporter 2] Scientists saythe planet is warming faster
than at any time in at least 2000 years.
- It is unequivocal.
- This is the beginningof a permanent emergency.
- But what if it's all hogwash?
What if what we've reallyhad this year is nothing
more than what folks usedto call a hot summer?
And not even close to thehottest summer this nation
has ever experienced.
- [Reporter 3] A heatwave in America
and hundreds of thousands leave New York.
- [Reporter 4] The summer heatthis year wasn't even close
to 1936.
- The 1930s were really whenthe terrible heatwave soar.
- [Dale] Tony Heller ofrealclimatescience.com
is an environmentalist whois an electrical engineer
helped develop the moderncomputer microprocessor.
His website has become acollection of weather history.
History, which shows it was a lot hotter,
90 and 100 years ago than it is today.
- The claims that summersare getting hotter simply
not true.
During 1936, 21 states set their all time
temperature record, andnone set them this year.
- [Dale] In the 1930s, mostof the nation saw temperatures
over 100 degrees,without air conditioning,
it was common for familiesto sleep outdoors.
Many thousands died andwhat would become known
as the Dust Bowl forced the migration
of three and a halfmillion climate refugees
out of the Great Plains and Midwest,
many of them to California.
- During the 1930s, places like Wisconsin
were seeing temperatures of 114 degrees.
North Dakota was 121 degrees,100 degree temperatures
were very common in theMidwest prior to that 1960.
But since 1960, they'vebecome much less common.
- [Dale] But what about wildfires?
News reports suggest they'regetting a lot more common,
but the record shows wildfireburn acreage reaches down 90%
from the 1920s and 30s.
One reason wildfiresseem to have increased
is because the wildfire databefore 1983 has been erased.
The website of the NationalInteragency Fire Center used
to show how wildfires were muchworse in the 1920s and 30s.
That is been removed.
The reason given by the NationalInteragency Fire Center,
"Prior to 1983, the FederalWildland Fire Agencies
did not track official wildfiredata using current reporting
processes."
So now when the media visit the website,
it shows wildfires steadily getting worse.
Heller also shows how NASA haschanged its historic weather
data.
This NASA temperaturegraph from 1999 showed
the warmest temperatures inthe 1900s were in the 1920s
and 30s.
Sometime later, NASA changed the graph,
and it now shows UStemperatures getting warmer.
Joe Bastardi is ChiefForecaster at WeatherBELL.com
and the author of,
"The Weaponization of Weatherin the Phony Climate War."
He says catastrophic weatherevents such as hurricane Ida
are used to show a climateemergency when hurricanes
just as strong hit thiscontinent hundreds of years ago.
- It is astounding what yousee going on today as far
as the weaponization of eachand every weather event.
Climate does change.
The weather is alwayschanging to the very nature
of our creation events change in reaction.
What I do mind is peoplewith a one sided perspective
that won't give people the total picture.
- [Dale] But this isn'tjust a debate about weather,
it's costing you money.
The Green New Deal proposed
by Representative AlexandriaOcasio-Cortez could cost
as much as $93 trillion.
And most of us are alreadypaying more in taxes
because of the beliefin a climate emergency
that the weather recordsuggests doesn't exist.
