- [Narrator] (gentlemusic) From an early age

eight year old Yocelyn hasbeen raised by her grandmother.

The two are very close. In recent years

collecting water for drinking and cooking

has been a challenge, because of her age,

Grandma can no longer fetchwater with her granddaughter.

- [Grandma] For me, it'sdifficult to go down the mountain.

It is even harder tocarry the water back up.

- [Narrator] Yocelyn walksby herself, first down,

then back up the mountainthree times a day

to fetch the water they need.

Each trip takes 45 minutes

and the most she can carryis two gallons at a time.

Their primary water sourceis this small cistern,

which collects dirty waterthat runs down the hillside.

- [Yocelyn] Sometimes, the water is very muddy

and has dirt in it.

It's gross.

It always has worms.

- [Narrator] Nearly 190households use this cistern

and other dangerous watersources around the community.

One afternoon, Yocelyn said she got sick

from drinking the water.

- [Yocelyn] I told grandma

I would not going to getwater from this place again.

- [Narrator] When Operationblessing learned about

the community, we confirmedthat their water source

was bacteria filled and dangerous.

So, we started a clean water project.

First, we identified a new water source.

- [Operation Blessing's Man]With help from residents,

we dug a trench.

- [Yocelyn] I was happywhen I heard the news

that there will be water.

I said thank God, forsuch a wonderful day.

- [Narrator] Next,Operation Blessing repaired

to community's 15,000 gallon holding tank

that was damaged and unusable.

We also added chlorinationto purify the water.

Finally, we ran pipes to Yocelyn's house,

and to every other homein the small community.

- [Yocelyn] When I saw thewater, I was very excited.

I was really happy because I knew

that now I was going to drink clean water.

- [Grandma] Water is soprecious. I thank the engineers

from Operation Blessing, alsothe donors, God bless you.
