- [Announcer] The followingprogram is sponsored by CBN.

- [Narrator] Coming up:

One vote away.

Just how important is asingle Supreme Court seat?

Senator Ted Cruz shares how swing votes

have changed history.

And then, 15 years of back pain.

- It was excruciating.

I'd have to sit down in between all of it.

- [Narrator] Gone in a flash!

- I just kept saying,"It's me, thank you Jesus."

- [Narrator] See how ithappened on today's 700 Club.

(dramatic music)

- Welcome to the 700 Club.

Well, we've got anotherexciting program for you today.

First of all, spiking againas the temperatures cool down,

Coronavirus cases in thecountry are shooting up,

the number now surpassing eight million.

And President Trump ispromising to crush the virus.

Will Joe Biden lock down Americaagain, if he's reelected?

And how much impact willCOVID have on the election?

(swooshing)

- From coast to coast, infection rates continue

to climb, with the numberof Coronavirus cases

in the country nowsurpassing eight million.

Hardest hit, the Midwestand the West right now.

All happening as cooler temps of the fall

and approaching winter weather settle in,

setting up for what experts say could be

a difficult few months ahead.

Nearly one million newcases in the country,

just since the start of this month.

Hospitalizations also onthe rise in 42 states.

The University MedicalCenter in El Paso, Texas,

now reportedly one ofthe busiest COVID wards

in the country.

Nurse, Vanessa Hidalgo, has worked the ward now

for seven months.

- At first at the beginning,we thought we were seeing,

you know, the worst ofit, but now actually being

where we're at at thispoint, oh no, they're sick.

They're having trouble breathing.

- [George] In Billings, Montana,

hospitals like thisone filled to capacity.

And in Utah, nurses insome hospitals there

seeing patients infected with the virus,

having to die alone.

- With the only people at their bedside

is their clinical teams, becausethey can't have family in.

- [George] Meanwhile, the lines for testing

across the country, getting longer by the day.

America's battle with thepandemic is on the agenda

for Thursday's final Presidential Debate.

The President on the campaigntrail in Erie, Pennsylvania,

saying his administrationwill defeat the virus

and insisting the countrycannot afford another lockdown.

- The Biden lockdown will crush America.

We will crush the virus.

We're doing that.

We're crushing the virus.

If you want depression, doom and despair,

vote for Sleepy Joe Biden.

- [Audience] Nooo!

- and boredom.

- [George] In Washington, time appears to be running out

for a new stimulus packagebefore the election.

Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell,

telling fellow Republicansat a private lunch

that he has warned the WhiteHouse against going ahead

with talks, saying theAdministration shouldn't divide

Republicans by sealing alopsided two trillion dollar

relief deal with HouseSpeaker, Nancy Pelosi.

Many Senate Republicansdon't want to sign on to

another huge spendingbill brokered by Pelosi.

McConnell reportedly alsosaid Pelosi isn't dealing

in good faith and a dealcould divide the party,

right before the vote onSupreme Court nominee,

Amy Coney Barrett.

But the President tellinglawmakers to go big

or go home on another stimulus round.

- The President doesn't at all mention

that his own party'sSenate Majority Leader

wants to go small and wantsto make the future package,

if one can be hammeredout before election day,

as small as possible becauseof concerns about the impact

on the deficit.

- [George] Amid concerns overthe pandemic, the economy,

and more, interest inthe election is high.

Millions of Americans acrossthe country are voting early,

and the numbers are off the charts.

More than 35 millionAmericans have already

cast their ballots.

That according to the UnitedStates Election Project.

In comparison, in 2016,just 5.6 million people

had voted at this point.

Election officials inthe most populous county

in Washington Statereporting record turnouts.

- We are on track to hit the 90% turnout.

It is record-breaking, evenfor a presidential election.

And in 20 years as anelection administrator here

at King County elections, I'venever seen anything like it.

- The RealClearPoliticsaverage shows Biden

with a clear lead, just overseven and a half points.

But the Investor'sBusiness Daily TIPP poll,

one of the most accurate in 2016,

looking at this year's race,

including third party candidates,

shows the President closingthe gap in recent days.

Now, only trailing byjust over two points.

George Thomas, CBN News.

- Well our prognosticator, John Waage,

will be with us next week.

He was the only one last election.

Everybody was sayingthere's no path to victory,

no path to victory, no path to victory.

And John and I got togetherand with his figures,

we figured out which stateswere going to go for Trump,

and indeed Trump won and we were right.

And nobody, and I meannobody that I can tell

on any of the newscasts, Fox or otherwise,

was predicting anythingexcept a Hillary Clinton win

and Trump pulled it off.

So Waage will be talkingto us, but I might add

a crucial vote in theSenate Judiciary Committee.

It's expected, of course,to vote Amy Barrett's

confirmation out of thisJudiciary Committee.

And I think the fullSenate will vote on Monday.

And that without question, she will be confirmed.

Well, in other news, despite the Democrats'

feeble objections, as I said, the full Senate will be voting

on her nomination on Monday.

The majority of Americansare supporting her

because she came through so fantastically,

since she was a giantin the midst of pygmies,

it was just amazing how well she did.

John Jessup has more on that story.

John?

- Pat, Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell,

had made the announcementabout the Barrett vote,

saying it will be "anothersignature accomplishment

"for Republicans, whowant judges who actually

"follow the law."

Barrett is expected to be confirmed,

despite heavy Democraticcomplaints that her nomination

was taken up too close to the election.

51% of Americans support her confirmation

to the Supreme Court, while 46% oppose it.

That's according to a new Gallup poll.

Barrett's nomination also raisedthe issue of Court Packing,

where Democrats might add morejustices to the high court,

if Joe Biden wins the White House

and Democrats take the Senate.

But that idea is notpopular with the public.

58% oppose Court Packing, according to a new poll

for the New York Times, while only 31% support it.

Biden has not taken aposition on Court Packing.

Well, the Department ofHomeland Security announced

a new joint effort to fighta modern form of slavery

called The Center forCountering Human Trafficking,

and multiple agencies are joining it.

Acting Homeland SecuritySecretary, Chad Wolf says,

"It's needed to win thebattle against traffickers."

- Trafficking is modern day slavery.

There's just no other way to say it.

The words are strong becausethe actions are evil.

Since founding of DHS 17 years ago,

we've been involved infighting this scourge.

But too often these efforts, though well intentioned,

were fragmented across the department.

This Administration isputting an end to that.

We are gathered heretoday to say, "No more."

- The new Center will combineefforts to help victims

provide training for law enforcement,

promote interdepartmental efforts

and raise public awareness.

Well, turning now overseas to Israel,

where Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu,

hosted a three-way meeting Tuesday with

American TreasurySecretary, Steven Mnuchin,

and the Financial Affairs Minister

of the United Arab Emirates.

As Chris Mitchell reports from Jerusalem,

it's the latest step in the growing ties

between Israel and Gulf Arab States

after this summer's historic agreements.

(swooshing)

- [Chris] Israeli PrimeMinister Benjamin Netanyahu,

hosted the meeting just afterthe first commercial flight

ever from the UAE landed atIsrael's Ben Gurion Airport.

- Today, we are making history!

We are making history in a way that

will stand for generations.

This is the first ever official visit

from the United Arab Emirates to Israel.

This is the first time since the signing

of the historic agreementsin the White House

that the government of Israel and the UAE

will be signing concrete,practical agreements

of cooperation.

- We are committed tosupport legal framework

for the movement of peopleand goods and for fostering

a continuous business friendly environment

between the UAE and the State of Israel.

- [Chris] On Monday, U.S.Treasury Secretary Mnuchin

attended signings ofMemoranda of Understanding

in Abu Dhabi between theUAE and Israeli companies.

On Sunday, Mnuchinjoined Israeli officials

on the first El Al flightever to land in Bahrain.

Bahrain joined the UAE at the last minute

in signing the Abraham Accordsin Washington in September.

- Today, we build onthat historic occasion

at the White House lastmonth, taking the next steps

to implement a declarationin support of peace

and the Abraham Accords.

- The opportunitieshere are quite enormous,

both economic, trade, investment,

cultural, and securitybetween the three countries.

- [Chris] Israel and Bahrainsigned a joint communique

on establishing peaceful anddiplomatic relations on Sunday.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel,David Friedman, said,

"They were in the land ofAbraham, where his sons,

"Isaac and Ishmael, hadreconciled 3,500 years ago."

- Today, we're bringingthe Bible back to life.

The children of Isaac andthe children of Ishmael

are reconciling onceagain in this Holy Land

and in Bahrain and in theUnited Arab Emirates as well.

It's another historic dayamong many historic days

that the Trump Administrationhas brought to this region.

- [Chris] Chris Mitchell,CBN News, Jerusalem.

- Thanks, Chris.

Pat, there's also reportingabout trying to get Saudi Arabia

to join this movement.

- It's very possiblethe Saudis will do it.

I don't know what's happening,

'cause now there's a lawsuit

by the widow of Khashoggi against Salman,

a civil lawsuit's on the way.

But I really believe thatthe Saudis want to come in.

I mean, they need the Israeli expertise

and they have some money thatwould help fund some projects.

And the alliance would be veryprofitable for both parties.

And I hope that they do it.

We'll just have to see.

Wendy?

- Well still ahead, an insidelook at the Supreme Court

from a former clerk andcurrent Senator, Ted Cruz.

How important is just one judge?

And can anyone stop the left'splan to pack the courts?

Ted Cruz tells us when he joins us live,

later on today's show.

But first, 15 years of crushing back pain

and a litany of treatmentsthat never worked.

So how was this womanhealed in an instant,

without ever leaving her house?

Find out after this.

(dramatic music)

(upbeat music)

- Pain patches, electrotherapy,injections, acupuncture.

Jo Dixon tried everythingin this arsenal for relief

of her back pain.

And for 15 years, nothing worked.

So how does she get healed in an instant

right in her own home?

Take a look.

- Hi, I'm Jo.

I just enjoy playing with my dogs.

I have two sweet puppies.

I just enjoy things outside.

The pain in my backstarted about 15 years ago,

when I'd do things, play with the dogs,

or go out and work in my yard,

wanna go and just walk.

I'd have to sit down in between all of it.

I couldn't enjoy it as much.

I'd bend over and it was excruciating.

It was really bad.

The doctor, they decidedto send me to pain therapy.

They did everythingfrom giving me patches,

putting electrodes on my back.

They put injections in my back.

We did acupuncture.

Nothing ever seemed to work.

I was just tired of this.

I was so fed up with having the pain.

On September 1st, I waswatching the 700 Club

and Wendy was praying.

- You have lower back painthat has just plagued you

for years, and God ishealing you right now.

Today is your day.

Just receive it.

You are healed and that painwill not be there anymore

in Jesus' name.

- It was exciting, andI'm going, that is me.

Thank you.

And I just kept saying, it's me.

Thank you, Jesus.

I felt the pain leaving.

It just sort of left.

And (laughs) I getreally excited about it.

I'm just telling everybody.

It hadn't been there now in quite awhile.

And I thank Him everymorning when I get up.

It's all because of Jesus.

He just was there and Iwas there at the right time

and accept it the right time.

I can do anything

that I didn't do before.

I just wanna thank the Lord.

I know He can do anything andI can do anything with Jesus.

I feel

so good.

So good.

After 15 years of constant back pain,

Jo was healed in an instant.

And you know, Pat, whew, that just blesses me so much.

- Well, you know thething of it is we're here

on a television program andshe's out wherever she lives.

- Yeah.

- And you didn't knowher, but God knew her

and God can send a word

and His word is powerful

and it brings about miraculous healing.

The word of God is quick and powerful.

Now we have a couple more.

We wanna pray for you right now.

What do you have?

- Norman of Mansfield, Missouri.

He was eating soup whilewatching the 700 Club

on September 3rd.

All of a sudden foodgot stuck in his throat

and he began choking.

As he struggled to swallow,he heard you say, Pat,

"someone named Norman, you've got an obstruction

"in your throat."

Norman, just reachedup, touched his throat.

"The obstruction is completely removed."

That's what you said.

His throat immediatelycleared, making it possible

for him to swallow and breathe.

Wow, praise God!

- Norman didn't want to die.

I don't know Norman, but God knew Norman.

Now here's something.

Lollie, she was diagnosed with COPD,

chronic obstructive pulmonarydisorder, and almost died.

She said "I was put in a coma'cause I could not breathe."

"I had pneumonia and Istayed in the hospital."

"When Pat and Wendyprayed for God's healing

"for a lady's lungs."

"I went back to the doctor, andhe said, "I have new lungs."

"I am off 24-hour oxygen."

"I am healed by God throughthe power of prayer."

- [Wendy] Praise God.

- That is Lollie.

Now we're going to pray for you right now.

We don't wanna wait another thing.

We'll talk about othermatters on the news,

but you're important to God.

Let's pray.

We're gonna join hands.

We're gonna believe God.

Father,

- [Wendy] Thank you, Father.

- with you, all things are possible.

We thank you for thesemiraculous healings.

We thank you for those who'vebeen in pain for many years

and you've set them free.

Right now, in thisaudience, there are people

who are suffering.

Somebody, Charlie, I believeyou've got a neck problem

and you've got your muscles in your neck

aren't working properly.

Just reach up and touch themin the name of Jesus, touch.

- [Wendy] Thank you, Lord.

- Thank you, Lord.

Wendy?

- You have meningitis andGod has just touched you.

You're being healedright now in Jesus' name.

Thank you, Lord.

- Thank you, Father.

- Thank you, Lord, there'ssomeone else with some,

- you have some lung issues and God is,

just put your handsright now on your chest

because God is touching you andyour lungs are being cleared

right now and you're breathingmuch easier right now,

in Jesus' name, just receive it.

- There's somebody, Ibelieve the name is Meredith

and you have unconsolable grief.

You are so sad.

You've just been sobbing andGod has heard your prayers

and He's giving you peaceand great peace have they

that love the Lord.

Now receive his peace, receive his blessing,

and be free from thatgrief, in the name of Jesus.

- Thank you, Jesus.

- Now, Father, for others inthis audience who are praying,

we ask for the touch of God.

And more than anything,we ask for this nation

in which we live.

Lord, let your blessing come upon us.

That we might turn toyou and be your people.

And may your blessing attendus, as we come into this time

of strife and election andall the things that are

coming about, may thepower of God rest upon us,

in Jesus' name.

Amen.

- [Wendy] Amen.

- And amen.

Give us a call please.

If you need furtherprayer, we're here for you.

Just pick up the phone.

It's 1-800-700-7000.

It's easy to remember.

And somebody is here who loves you

and they'll be delighted to pray for you,

to hear the good news or whatever.

And if you have an answer to prayer,

we'd like to hear that too.

So 1-800-700-7000.

Wendy.

- All right, well still ahead.

He was a Buccaneer, a Cardinal and a Bear.

So why did this former NFLlinebacker hide for years

who he really was?

Sam Acho will tell you himself

when he joins us live later on.

But first, Senator TedCruz gives us his take

on how a single Supreme Courtseat can change history.

The Senator joins us live.

That's coming up, stay tuned.

(upbeat music)

(swooshing)

(dramatic music)

- Welcome back to Washingtonfor the CBN Newsbreak.

California is facing onlinecriticism over its strict new

Coronavirus guidelines for celebrating

during the Thanksgivingand Christmas holidays.

The new rules include no morethan three families at a time.

Gatherings must be outdoorswith limited time indoors,

and should be just two hours or less.

The guidelines warn againstsinging, chanting, shouting,

and physical exertion, because they can increase

the risk of spreading the disease.

And they say people whoare singing or chanting

are strongly encouraged to do so quietly

or below the volume ofnormal speaking voice.

Evangelist, Franklin Graham,is calling on Christians

to participate in a dayof fasting and prayer

for our nation this Sunday, stressing that the country

faces multiple crises, fromthe pandemic to the election,

to racial unrest.

Graham writing on Facebook,"We need to call out to God

"for His help, Hisintervention and His mercy."

"It is only by His handthat America will survive

"and be able to thrive again."

"We have an election comingup with so much at stake,

"two vastly differentdirections for the future

"of this country."

Graham also added that prayeris our most important weapon.

Well, you can find out moreabout both of these stories

and always get the latest from CBN News,

by going to our website at CBNnews.com.

Pat and Wendy will be backwith more of today's 700 Club

right after this.

(swooshing)

(upbeat music)

- Welcome back to the 700 Club.

We are waiting for ourinterview with Senator Ted Cruz.

But first we wanna goahead and do a couple

of email questions for you.

Marg writes and she says,"Jesus was fully human

"and fully divine."

"If he is our elder brother,

"are we as well human and divine,

"or were we separated from our divinity

"when we left the Garden of Eden?"

"If Jesus is in us, do we become divine?"

Pat?

- Well, that's a very good question.

And He said, "I will be inyou, my Father will be in you."

You know, when we are created,

we're made in the image of God.

And that means that we have a conscience

and we have a soul and we have spirit

and we have all those things.

And so there's a part of divinity in us.

So anyhow, that's something that we know.

I mean, so we didn't losethat at the Garden of Eden.

God created us in His own image

and Jesus was fully humanand he was also divine.

Now I believe...

- [Wendy] We've got the Senator.

He's a busy guy this morning.

- It's an fascinating book.

It's really a tremendous read.

"One Vote Away, How aSingle Supreme Court Seat

"Can Change History."

And it's our pleasure tointroduce to you right now,

Senator Ted Cruz.

Senator, it's wonderful.

You've written a tremendous book here.

I'm just really very interested (laughs)

and I hope a lot of people get it.

Well, thank you, Pat.

It's good to be with you.

Thank you for having me on again.

The book is designedreally to bring people

inside the Supreme Court.

Each chapter of the bookaddresses a different

Constitutional liberty.

And it's from theperspective of a litigator.

You know, before I was in the Senate,

what I did for a living is argue cases

in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

And so each chapter tells war stories

to try to bring people behind the scenes.

You know a lot of peopleknow the court's important,

but it can be confusing.

It's hard to understandwhat's going on there.

This book is designed tomake it simple and clear

and help folks understandthe stakes of the battles

that are playing outthere from the inside.

What's going on with thejustices, who the justices are.

And what is stunning, as yougo from chapter to chapter

to chapter on free speech,on religious liberty,

on the second amendment, ison each of our fundamental

liberties, virtually allof the major landmark cases

were decided five to four.

That we're just one vote away from losing

those precious liberties.

- You know, you've talkedabout the fact that when

Republicans appointsomebody that their nominees

turn left almost invariablyand the Democrats appoint 'em,

they stay truly to the left.

And there's one case thatI was in law school at Yale

and they decided, calledGriswold versus Connecticut,

which is the most absurdnonsense about emanations.

You mentioned all that, and there's nothing

in the Constitutionabout condoms (laughs).

I mean, it just isn't there.

But you've got to findemanations and penumbras

out of the 14th Amendment.

How do they do that?

- Well Pat, as you know, what you're laying out

is the case law that builtup to Roe versus Wade,

and Roe versus Wade in 1973,

I've got an entire chapterin the book on life.

And it describes how the SupremeCourt fundamentally changed

in 1973, when it issued Roe.

Prior to 1973, questions ofabortion had been decided

at the state level and differentstates had different laws

and you could debate it.

You could debate it in the legislature.

You could go and fight todefend the right to life

and convince your fellow citizens

and have the laws reflect your values.

In 1973, the Supreme Courtsaid, the voters your views

don't count, you don't get to speak on it.

And, you know, you useda phrase that the lawyers

out there will recognize, but most people,

it's an odd phrase.

You said emanations and penumbras,

and it's actually where Roe came from.

So the reasoning, theysaid, okay, the Constitution

doesn't speak to abortion at all.

But what the court said is, well,

certain rights in the Billof Rights have emanations.

Basically they glow.

And those emanations cast penumbras.

Now a penumbra is just a fancy10-penny word for a shadow.

And within those penumbrasfrom the emanations,

that's where we find theright to unlimited abortion.

I mean, it was,

it was fiction writing.

It had nothing to dowith the Constitution.

It was nine justices who were legislating.

And one of the things Italk about in the book

is that decision ended uppoliticizing the court.

It's why we have theseknockdown, drag out battles

over Robert Bork and ClarenceThomas and Brett Kavanaugh.

Because the left made adecision, really starting

in the sixties, moving into the seventies,

that democracy was toohard, that it was too hard

to actually convince yourfellow voters of your views.

It was much easier just toget five unelected lawyers

in black robes decree a radicaloutcome for the country.

And that started us downa very dangerous path.

And the left, look, thiselection we've got in November,

the stakes we've got hereare fundamental rights.

On the question of abortion,we're one vote away

from the court strikingdown every restriction

on abortion across the countryand mandating the Democrats'

policy position, which isunlimited abortion on demand,

up until the moment of birth, partial birth abortion,

with no parental consent,no parental notification,

and full taxpayer funding.

That is radical.

That is extreme.

And that's what the Democratswant the Supreme Court to do.

- Well, there was one casecoming out of Louisiana,

where the court struckdown a very simple question

about having informedconsent before an abortion.

And they said, "No way, you've got an unlimited

"right to abortion."

And what you say is exactly right.

It was federalized.

It should be state police power.

And this was federalizing thisthing and it's caused chaos

in our society ever since.

- Yeah, that's exactly right.

And it's about power.

You take another example, thechapter on religious liberty.

And I've been fortunate, manyof the big landmark cases

I helped litigate personally.

And so I tell the stories from the inside.

So I tell the story, for example,

of the Ten CommandmentsMonument that stands on the

State Capitol grounds in Texas.

It's been there since 1961.

And an individual plaintiff, an atheist,

and actually a homeless man,

saw the monument and got offended.

And he filed a lawsuit.

He argued, you can't have theimage of the Ten Commandments

on state grounds.

The case went all the wayto the U.S. Supreme Court.

Texas defended the monument.

We won five-four.

There were four Justices ready to say,

"Send in the bulldozers and tear down

"that 60-year-old monument."

Because of a radical view from the left

that God has to be removedfrom the public square.

And I'll tell you something amazing, Pat.

Do you know how many times theimage of the Ten Commandments

appears in the courtroomof the Supreme Court

of the United States?

- How many (laughs)?

- 43!

43 times!

The Ten Commandments appear twice carved

into the wooden doors as youwalk out of the courtroom.

They appear 40 times on the bronze gates

along the sides of the courtroom.

And then up to the left of the Justices,

carved onto the frieze, there'sa frieze of great lawgivers

and there is Moses holdingthe Ten Commandments,

the text still legible in Hebrew,

looking down over theshoulders of the Justices.

And four of the Justices werewilling to say, in effect,

"Bring out the chisels and sand blasters."

"We can't acknowledge theTen Commandments anymore."

It is a radical anti-religious view.

It's the same view that wants to go after

The Little Sisters of the Poor.

It's the same view thatis going after pastors

and our fundamentalright, our first liberty

to worship God free ofgovernment getting in the way,

we're one vote away fromlosing that at the court.

- Well, you know, HugoBlack wrote that decision.

He picked up a letter fromThomas Jefferson that said

there was a wall of separation.

And he said, "We willnot permit its breach."

And he was a member of the KKK.

He was also a strong, well he was anti-Catholic.

And to see that wall of separation,

that's what they keep talking about.

And there's nothing in theConstitution that sets up

a wall of separationbetween church and state

that I know of.

It's in the Soviet Constitution.

- Well, you're right.

And the letter in question,Thomas Jefferson was writing

to the Danbury Baptists and the phrase,

so the phrase "separationof church and state",

it doesn't appear in the Constitution

or the Bill of Rights or the Declaration.

It appears in this private correspondence

from Thomas Jefferson.

And I talk about thisin the book and explain

what it really means.

What Jefferson wastalking about was a wall

to protect the church, was awall to keep government out;

was not having governmentbe able to intrude

on the internal matters of the church.

And that is a one-way wall.

It wasn't a wall trying to keep Christians

out of public life.

It wasn't a wall tryingto stop the exercise

of our faith, but it wasinstead a defensive wall,

saying the government can'tcome in and control your church.

You know, several years agoyou may remember in Houston,

the mayor of Houston subpoenaedfive pastors in Houston

and demanded to see their sermon notes

on everything they hadpreached on homosexuality.

And at the time I wasdeeply upset about it.

I called my pastor.

Heidi and I are members ofFirst Baptist Church in Houston,

and our pastor is Gregg Matte.

I said, "Pastor Gregg, have you seen what happened

"with the subpoenas?"

He said, "Yeah, yeah, I've seen it."

He said, "I've been prayingabout it all morning."

And I said, "Pastor,I'd like to do a rally

"of pastors throughout thecity against this intrusion

"into religious liberty," and I said,

"I'd like to do it tomorrow,Thursday, at 11:00 a.m."

"And I wanted to ask, canwe do it at the church?"

"Would you be willing to host it?"

And Pat, my Pastor begins laughing.

And he said, "You know, Ted, a month ago,

"God laid onto my heartthat we needed to be praying

"for our city."

He said, "A month ago, I invitedpastors throughout the city

"to gather at the church."

He said, "Ted, tomorrowthere are 50 pastors

"throughout the city ofHouston coming to my office

"tomorrow at 10:00 a.m."

And both of us just kind ofstopped and just you know, said,

"Wow, God is amazing when He works."

And so the next day Ijoined those pastors,

we spent an hour on ourknees praying for our city

from 10 to 11, and then at 11,

we went out and did thepress conference together.

And we stood as one.

We said, "When you subpoena one pastor,

"you subpoena every pastor."

And Caesar has nojurisdiction over the pulpit.

And we stood up and what happened,

and it's a great encouragementfor believers out there,

is the sunlight and theheat and the attention

became too much and thecity of Houston backed down

and they withdrew the subpoenas.

These fights we can win,but we've gotta be willing

to actually stand up and defendour Constitutional rights

and our religious liberty.

- Let me ask you one thingabout this coming up.

You know, the minorityleader of the Senate has said

this is the most unconstitutional

hearing in history.

There's nothing about theconfirmation of Amy Barrett

that would be unconstitutional, is it?

- No, not remotely.

And in fact, the confirmationof Judge Barrett,

tomorrow the judiciary committeeis gonna vote to confirm

her and then the full Senatewill confirm her on Monday.

That is consistent withtwo centuries of precedent.

So the situation we have now,

a Supreme Court vacancy duringa Presidential election year,

that's actually not a new thing.

That has happened many timesin our nation's history,

29 times to be exact.

So 29 times there's beena Supreme Court vacancy

during a Presidential election year.

Presidents have nominatedsomeone to those vacancies

all 29 times.

It doesn't matter if you'rea Democrat or a Republican.

If you're a President,you make that nomination.

What has the Senate done?

Well, 19 of those times, the President and the Senate

were of the same party.

Of those, the Senate confirmed17 of them, 17 out of 19.

The precedent for twocenturies is if the President

and the Senate are of the same party,

typically that nomination is confirmed.

How about the other 10?

The other 10, the President and the Senate

were of opposite parties.

In those situations, the Senate has confirmed

only two of them.

That's the precedent as well.

So in 2016, when BarackObama made a nomination,

you had a Senate thatwas of a different party.

And we exercised our constitutional role,

as a check and balance, toprevent filling that seat.

Likewise, in this instance, the American people,

they elected Donald Trumppromising to nominate

principled constitutionaliststo the courts.

And they elected a Republican majority,

promising to confirmprincipled constitutionalists

to the court.

So on Monday, when weconfirm Judge Barrett,

we will be fulfillingour promises to defend

the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

And it's the voters thathave made that decision.

- Oh, you know, when theywere considering a vacancy,

I must say that you were my candidate.

I got pretty close to thePresident to try to see

if he wouldn't put you in.

'Cause I thought youwould be a voice of reason

and the stabilizing force in the court.

Is there any possibilityif the President wanted

to put the next Judge onthat you might accept,

if it was offered to you?

- Well, Pat, I appreciate that very much.

That is very kind of you.

I can tell you, it's notthe desire of my heart.

It's not where I wanna serve.

And it's one of the thingsI talk about in the book,

"One Vote Away".

Each of the threevacancies that has occurred

under President Trump, heand I have had very serious

conversations about the court.

And each time I've told him, no,

that I don't wanna serve on the court.

He just recently put outa new Supreme Court list

and he very kindly includedme on the list of Justices

he might appoint and I'mgrateful for that confidence.

I'm certainly grateful foryour confidence as well.

You know, I gotta say a lotof people find it strange

that I don't wanna serve onthe court, given my background,

given how much time I'vespent in front of the court,

that seems odd to them.

And let me explain why I don't.

A principal judge staysout of political fights.

A principal judge staysout of policy fights.

If I were ever a judge,that's what I'd do.

I'd stay out of these fights.

I don't wanna stay out of them.

I think there is a desperateneed in the political arena.

- (laughing) That's great.

- We need people tofight for our liberties!

- We're gonna lose oursatellite feed with you

in just a minute.

This is a tremendous book, ladies and gentlemen,

I wanna tell you, I wasjust fascinated to read it.

It is so well done.

And it's called "One Vote Away".

It's Ted Cruz's book andI think you can get it

wherever books are soldand I recommend you do it.

Ted, thank you so much for being with us.

I hope you can come back.

It was wonderful talking to you.

God bless you.

- Thank you, I appreciate it.

God bless you too.

- We need Senator Cruz in the fight.

I'm glad he's not going to the bench.

We need him in the fight, butI'd love him on the court.

I mean, he was my candidate, you know,

I really did everything I could, but he doesn't wanna do it.

But that book, it's a tremendous book.

I wanna recommend it.

It really is good.

- Fantastic.

Can't wait to read it.

Up next.

He had fame and fortune in the NFL.

So why was he wearing amask before COVID-19 hit?

And what was he keepingfrom everyone else?

Find out when Sam Achojoins us live, just ahead.

(upbeat music)

Well, nobody likes wearing a mask,

but during this COVIDcrisis, most of us have to.

Well for years, Sam Achochose to wear a mask,

but not the cloth kind.

So what was he hiding?

Take a look.

(swooshing)

- [Narrator] Sam Acho isan NFL player, author,

speaker and humanitarian.

Sam believes that it's time to stop hiding

behind an emotional maskand instead allow the world

to see the real you.

How do you handle emotionand what are you hiding

and what are you keepingfrom everyone else?

- [Narrator] In his book,"Let the World See You",

Sam shares lessons from his life,

helping you overcome yourfears and allowing God

to use your gifts tohelp those around you.

- Please welcome tothe 700 Club, Sam Acho.

Sam it's great to have you with us!

- So glad to be with you, Wendy.

- Well Sam, you started maskingyour true self early on.

Tell us why.

- Yeah, well I rememberbeing 13 years old at this

youth service we went to andI remember getting made fun of

as a little kid for theclothes I was wearing,

I guess the way I dressed.

And I remember just feeling alittle bit of sense of shame.

Like, man, I thought that I was,

I don't understand what peoplewere laughing and joking.

And I remember they turnedaround and looked back up

at the front of the roomand as they looked up,

I got up and I walked overand I went a 25 yard walk

to the restroom stalland I just sat there,

just sat there and I hid, right?

And I thought it would be a onetime thing,

but it seemed like every single week,

a 13-year-old kid, I wentback to that youth service

and I didn't wanna betalked about, made fun of,

so I would go sit and I would hide.

Well fast forward now I'm at31, 32-year-old NFL linebacker

and I would still find myself hiding.

I found myself not hidingin restroom stalls,

but hiding within myself.

I wouldn't show people the real me.

Right?

And so I feel like oftentimeswe hide our emotions,

our fears, our doubt, our shame, our anxiety,

but we also hide our joy, our passions,

the things that make us who we are.

And my book is essentially what it means.

It's about what it meansto let the world see you,

the real you, because Ifeel like when you're you,

God gets the glory, thepeople around you benefit

and the world around you thrives.

- Yeah.

Tell us what you were hiding and why.

I know your parents are bothfrom, tell me again, Nigeria?

- Yeah absolutely.

Yeah absolutely.

Well, for me, yeah, for me, Wendy,

you know, people know I'man outspoken Christian,

I'm a follower of Jesusand you're in this field

in the NFL, right?

It's the biggest, the baddest, the best,

and the most competitive andI'm highly competitive, highly.

That's how I got to where I got to.

Passionate as well, but people would see me

on the football field andI would get in a fight

with a teammate or get angryor something and they'd say,

"Oh Sam, well you're a Christian."

"Christians aren't supposed to get mad."

"Was that a curse word I just heard?"

And all of a sudden I would...

God made me to be a fiery competitor,

a fierce fighter on that football field.

And he made me passionate.

And so one of the things Iwould hide would be my anger

or my emotion.

I didn't want people to see me and say

well, that's not what a Christian

was supposed to look like and...

- Sam, okay, what wasthe turning point for you

when you allowed peopleto see the real Sam

and how did that change your life?

- Yeah, well I remember it wasa week before training camp

in the 2018 season and I hadjust signed a a multi-year

contract with the Chicago Bears.

And I was going on myfourth year with the team,

and I remember on the outsidethings looked really good,

but on the inside I was struggling.

And I remember sittingwith a friend and saying,

"Man, I don't know what'sgoing on with my marriage,

my relationship with...

get back to the seasononce the season starts,

everything will be okay.

And he looked at me and he said,

"Sam, that's how you feel right now."

"I'm afraid of whathappens when football ends,

"for when you retire."

And as he's talking, I'm starting to cry,

'cause I'm just thinkingof all that's going on.

And he looks at me in mytears, snot bubbles and all.

And he says, "It's nice to see you, Sam."

And I'm sitting, like, what do you mean

it's nice to see me?

He said, "All I've seenfor the last 10 years

"I've known you hasbeen this put together,

"smile, everything, youhave it all together."

But it's good to see that you are human.

And so he actuallyrecommended that I go talk

to a counselor.

My dad is a therapistas well, a marriage...

at a counselor's office.

And he asked me a question.

He said, "Sam, what do youdo when you get angry?"

And my response was, "Well,I just don't get angry."

And he said, "Well, Sam,everybody gets angry."

- Right.

- "So what do you do when you get angry?"

And after he asked methat question, Wendy,

I started to cry again.

And he looks at me and heputs his hand on my shoulder

and he says, "It's nice to see you, Sam."

And so the turning pointfor me was this idea

of showing my emotions, whether it's fear,

anger, sadness, joy, and people saying,

"Oh wow, it is really, really, really nice to see you."

- Amen.

Well, it is indeed nice to see you.

And we love your new book.

Sam's book is called"Let the World See You".

And it's availablewherever books are sold.

Sam Acho, thank you so muchfor sharing your story.

God bless you.

- Thank you, Wendy.

- All right.

Great guy there.

- Amazing, yeah!- Great life, Great interview.

- I'm glad the world is seeing him.

- Yeah, so we had a little--

- We have some emailquestions coming in now.

- Yeah, let's do this one.

Tanesha writes in.

She says, "How do you let itgo when people do you wrong?"

"My daddy passed away, thenmy stepmom took everything

"and didn't give me anything."

Wow, that's tough.

- Well, how do you let it go?

Well, the Bible says sufferyourself to be defrauded.

You know, allow yourself, Imean, don't hold a grudge.

And I think it's so important.

You see, what your materialpossessions are is nice,

but your eternalpossessions is much greater.

So focus on what God is going to give you.

Now you may have a fewdollars in your hand

and your stepmother took it away from you.

But open up your hand andsee what God will open up.

He might give you thousands of times more.

So the blessing of the Lord,

focus on the blessings of the Lord,

not on the little things that you've lost.

And you know, there'll come the time

that you won't be able to hold a grudge.

I think it's with me, I literally, I mean,

I really am incapable of holdinga grudge against somebody.

I just can't do it.

I've been beat up plenty of times,

but I just can't do it, becausethe Lord is blessing me.

And so why should I worry?

And remember what Jesus said on the cross?

"Forgive them, they don'tknow what they're doing."

So, you just forgive andwatch what God will do.

All right?

- I think that is lifechanging advice for her,

because if she takes that,God's gonna bless her so much.

- Bless her beyond measure, absolutely.

- All right, here's one from Jeff.

He says, "Many Christianssay they are going to heaven,

"but Matthew 7:14 says,'straight is the gate

"'and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life,

"and few there be that find it'."

"How do I reconcile the two?"

- Well, how do you reconcile the two?

I mean, there's sevenbillion people in the world,

and not all of 'em are going to heaven.

And the way,

it's narrow.

It's not a broad way.

It's a broad way that leads to hell.

But the narrow way is through the cross.

And you come to thecross, you come to Jesus.

And when you get there,

you lose yourself in Him.

And Paul said, "I amcrucified with Christ."

"Nevertheless, I live andthe life I live in the flesh

"I live by the faith ofthe Son of God who loved me

"and gave himself for me."

So, that's narrow, you know,it's just the way it is.

So how do you reconcile it?

Well (laughs) God has got a big heaven

and He wants to take as manypeople to heaven as he can.

I mean, heaven is huge andthere's plenty of room there.

But it's not gonna be open toeverybody who wants to live

an ungodly, immoral life.

Period.

Okay?

- I think that's what scarespeople is they hear that part

that you're gonna have to lose yourself.

But actually what happens isyou become the best version

of yourself in Christ.

- Well, I'm a new creature.

You become a new creature in Christ.

I put off the old and put on the new.

Okay.

- Amen.Here's Kim.

She says, "I watched yourshow on October 14th."

"Pat was talking about anew curriculum that teaches

"our children that our countrywas formed on slavery."

"What is the name of this new curriculum??

"I want to look into it more."

- Well, you should.

It's called "The 1619 Project".

And what it said was, insteadof the guys coming here

in 1607 and planting a crossand dedicating this land

to the Lord, instead ofthe pilgrims coming in 1620

to found a new nation basedon the principles of God,

the 1619 says America began as a

slave-owning country andthe first origins of America

were the first slaves thatwere brought to Jamestown.

Now that is erroneous.

It's not historical.

The person who put it outsaid, "It's not history,

"but we just wanna get the headlines."

Okay?

- Oh man, that's horrible.

All right.

Gregory says, "Would youexplain Matthew 11:12:

"'From the days of Johnthe Baptist until now

"the Kingdom of Heavenhas suffered violence

"and the violent take it by force'."

"Are we considered 'the violent'?"

"And how can we demand ortake anything from God?"

- You know, I wanna tell you,

I give you a personal confession.

I've wrestled with thatone myself (laughs).

I haven't been absolutely certain.

But I guess the idea is that we struggle.

You know, the Kingdom ofHeaven is suffering violence.

Now Satan wants to destroy it.

There are evil peoplewho want to destroy it.

And, you know, the Kingdomof God are the people

of God, and we're under persecution.

Paul said through manythlipsis is the Greek word,

many pressures, I'll enterinto the Kingdom of God.

So I believe that's whatthey're talking about.

It's not that we wanna be violent,

but you're gonna have topersevere in order to get hold

of what God has for you.

All right?

- You pray on your knees violent prayers.

- Well, he said you wrestle, I mean,

you wrestle together with me.

They wrestled, they prayedstretch-outedly, is the word.

They prayed stretch-outedly for him.

They were agonizing for the Lord.

All right.

- Amen.

All right, here's one more.

Kyle says, "Pat, lately I have anxiety

"with this ongoing COVID pandemic."

"It's gotten so bad, Ican't focus on work."

"I've been going backwardson eating healthy foods."

"I've been trying tofind solace in God's Word

"without success."

"What else can I do torelieve my mental anxiety,

"so I can focus on work and serve God?"

- I recommend reading the 91st Psalm.

Read it and read it overand over and over again.

You know, "A thousandwill fall at your side

"and ten thousand at your right hand,

"but it won't come nigh you,"

because this is thereward of the righteous.

Read it and read itand read it and read it

and realize that the terror

that wastes at noondayis not gonna get you.

Okay?

- And read it out loud, that always helps me too.

- Yeah, say it out loud, okay.

- We've got time for one more.

Are you ready?

Okay, Peggy says, "I havenever heard God's voice

"talk to me."

"Why haven't I heard God's voice?"

"I pray all the time."

- I think you're talking too much.

You need to listen.

It's the still small voice.

It's not a loud noise, but a lot of times

it'll be within you andit'll be within your spirit.

But you need to be touchedby the Spirit of God.

And as many as are filledwith the Spirit of God,

they're the sons of God andyou'll hear a voice in your ear

saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it."

Just listen.

Be quiet and listen, andGod will speak to you.

- [Wendy] Amen.

- Well Today's Power Minuteis from the book of James.

"Draw near to God, and Hewill draw near to you."

For Wendy and all of us,this is Pat Robertson.

And remember, a weekfrom now we've got that

special Q and A program,so get your questions in.

See you then.
