the face of this planet

One man's search for something greater.

All on today's 700 Club Interactive.

- Hi, and welcome to the show.

Chelsea Bromley heard a strange sound.

So her mom intuition kicked into action.

And within seconds she threw herself

between her seven year old son

and the teeth of a vicious cougar.

- Well, Chelsea's storywent viral on social media

and made headlines around the world.

Now she wants everyone to know

the full account of whathappened on that day.

- We live on Vancouver Islandin a small town Lake Cowichan

for approximately four years now.

My husband is Kevin

and we have five of our own kids together.

And we also have a step son.

When you live here, it'syou have a lot of privileges

because you're in abeautiful forested area.

It's not uncommon to seedeer, raccoon, bears.

Our community is very closed off.

We have a safe environment here.

Never did I ever think thatanything would happen to my kids

in my own backyard.

The thought never crossed my mind.

This was an average Friday afternoon.

Around 3:40 ish.

And Kevin was working

but the children are doingeverything they normally do.

Make the popcorn and put thepopcorn bowl onto the porch.

And Zach, he just felt like he needed

to have some time to himself.

He was headed to his fort.

And he loves this fort it.

He worked very hard at it.

And I didn't know thathe was in the backyard.

I just doing normal things.

The normal things I do every single day.

So when I was in my laundry room

I heard the sheet metal onthe neighbor's fence banging.

And I thought, sounds likechild's kicking that metal fence.

I knew something was wrong.

I went outside and I couldhear this this banging.

Sounds like he's trying toget something off of him.

I ran down the stairs andI'm calling Zach, Zach.

And I knew he's in that area.

So I just leaped overthere, turn the corner.

It's a parent's worst nightmare.

I see this cougar latched on to my child.

It took me a moment to process, what on earth is happening?

Your heart just sinks into your stomach.

I needed to try and get control of

what was physically harming my child,

which was that cougar's mouth.

And in a moment's time Iknew that I needed to pray.

I knew that, God, I need your help.

I just reached my hands intoits mouth and I'm just pulling.

Okay, God, he's the only one at this point

who's going to be able to save my son?

I believe in Jesus, Ibelieve in his power.

I believe in his strength.

I know that God is going to save my kid.

And about three sentences into my prayer

the cougar just unlatchedits mouth off of him

and it just slinked away.

I scooped him up and Ijust ran in the house.

And I said, "Okay, everyone get in the house,

get in the house."

He had an MRI, but there's no brain damage

or no fractures to hisskull and no broken bones.

So deep lacerations isall we had to deal with

and the wounds healed.

Amen, praise the Lord.

- You may have heard of this story.

It's gone international.

- A mama bear versus cougar.

- [Presenter] A mother in Canada

went toe to toe with a cougar.

- Is being credited withsaving her son's life.

- When the first news people arrived

I thought, "Oh, okay, this hit the news."

And that's as far as I thought.

When it went on to Good Morning America.

I was really surprised.

The reason I wanted to allow it was so

that the right story got out there.

We give God 100% credit.

It wasn't me who opened its mouth.

It was the power of the Holy Spirit

that made that animal flee.

Zach today is, I would sayhe is doing quite well.

I know the Lord has reallyhelped heal him emotionally.

I tell him that God saved him

and I tell him that the Lord intervened.

Through this experience

he can see the power ofthe Holy Spirit working

and the importance of calling on God,

not just in times of need,

but in all times be having arelationship with the Lord.

- Did you hear Chelsea inthat desperate situation?

She said, I believe in Jesus.

I believe in his power.

And I believe in his strength.

And that really was a parent'sworst nightmare, wasn't it?

But what do we do when we're blindsided?

We get blindsided when accidents occur,

we get a bad medical diagnosis,

financial ruin could happen.

Problems at work.

We get blindsided by things.

Can we see things through God's eyes

and instead of us justreacting, can we respond?

Can we have courage?

Can we have faith?

I was thinking of thefirst chapter of Joshua,

where the Lord says, "Bestrong and courageous.

Do not be fearful.

Do not be dismayed for I am your God.

I will be with you wherever you go."

Harry and I want to pray for you.

We believe in a God who answers prayer

and a God who is for you not against you.

You know what your prayer concern is.

You know what your need is.

Right now, Terry and I want to lift them

to our holy Heavenly Father in Jesus name.

Terry, would you lead us?

- Lord Father, throughout your word again

and again and again youdeclare yourself to be

our cleft on the rock, our hiding place.

The go to when things happen in life.

And as we just saw in this story, Lord,

they happen unexpectedly.

They happen out of the blue.

They happen when we don't havetime to prepare for anything.

God, we want to be so close to you

that when these unexpectedhappenings, losses, challenges

come to us that you are thefirst person that we go to.

Wanna be like this mom who knewthat Jesus you were the one.

And she cried out to you andso we cry out to you today

on behalf of those who are with us

who have just watched the story

and who themselves are goingthrough difficulties God.

We cry out to you because weknow that you are the answer

that when the world falls apartaround us you are our go to.

You are our God.

You are the one who sees us, knows us,

is in our tomorrow already.

So we just come against a spirit of fear

and anybody- Amen.

- Who's praying right nowand we just declare freedom.

Jesus said He came toset the captive free.

I just declare now that fearcomes off of every person

who's hearing my voice.

Pray that faith is built.

God that we would justremember that you have it all.

It's in your hand.

That you have fullcontrol over all things.

And so we give you not just our fear,

we give you our circumstances.

Jesus here the heart cryof your people right now.

Respond, we pray God.

Thank you, Lord,

- And for those who are saying,"God, I want more of you.

I want to know who you are.

I want you to reveal yourself to me."

I just feel the HolySpirit pointing to John:14

in which Jesus says, "If you have seen me,

you have seen the Father.- Yes, Jesus.

- That's the character of God.

Hebrews says, "The Son, Jesus,

is the radiance of God's glory

and the exact representationof his being."

Do you wish to know God?

Look to Jesus.

- [Terry] Yes Lord.

- Father and all thesethings we commit to you.

You know our insecurities.

You know, our deficiencies,our weaknesses,

but we celebrate the fact that in you,

there is life.- Yes, Jesus.

- An abundant life.

And that you love us dearly.

In Jesus name we pray, amen.

If you'd like prayer for anything,

you can call us at 800-700-7000.

Terry.

- What I just want to mentionthis before we were coming on

to the show today.

I just felt like the Lordwas speaking this scripture,

the joy of the Lord is mystrength and it's yours as well.

So get into that ratherthan your circumstances.

Rejoice in who he is not be overwhelmed

by what you're facing.

Well, coming up fromdrug dealer to Navy SEAL

to actor in a moviedirected by Michael Bay.

- I was like, "Wow, this is crazy."

Because this is the guywhose first two films

inspired me to be a SEAL.

- See this man supernaturaltransformation right after this.

Remi was a 19-year-old drugdealer when he heard a voice

telling him to join the military.

He followed that voice andfulfilled a long forgotten dream

to become a Navy SEAL.

But the greatesttransformation in Remi's life

took place in the wilderness of Alaska.

- I would see these music videos

these young African Americanmen who look like me.

They have the cars, they havethe girls and the gold chains

and they have the money.

I'm like, "That what I want."

- [Narrator] Remi Adeleke was born

to a wealthy Nigerian entrepreneurand his American wife.

Up to the age of five Remilived in the life of luxury.

But when his father died unexpectedly,

his mom moved Remi and hisolder brother to the Bronx

and a life of poverty.

But money wasn't the only thing he missed.

- For me to not have a fatherto affirm me or to guide me

and provide for me and my brother,

I began to search out father figures.

- [Narrator] His mom was aChristian who took them to church

and taught them to follow Jesus.

Instead, Remi looked atstreet hustlers and rappers

as his role models andhis way out of poverty.

- I just wanted my life and mybrothers and my mother's life

to be better than it was.

- [Narrator] As a young teen

he went from petty theft to selling drugs.

During this time,

he also saw two filmsby director Michael Bay

that showed him he couldaspire to something better.

- The first one was Bad Boysand the second one was The Rock

because that was the first time

I saw two African American men in Bad Boys

who looked like me butthey were still cool.

And they were heroes.

After I watched The Rock, you know,

I further weighed deepdown within me this idea

that I would be a Navy SEAL one day.

- [Narrator] But for a teenage dealer

and scam artist making thousands

that dream seemed far out of reach.

- Chances of that happening is absolutely

slim to none, right?

And as time passed that idea faded away.

- [Narrator] That is until a drug dealer

came into their homethreatening to kill Remi.

Remi paid him off, but it wasthe wake up call he needed

- All these years of doing this dirt

and not only did I bringthis dirt into my life,

but I brought it to my mom's doorstep.

I made the decision I'mgetting out of this life.

- [Narrator] But now 19, Remihad no idea what to do next.

Until one morning in bed

he heard a voice he didn't recognize

- And this voice said to me,

"You need to join the military."

And I was like, "What?

Heck no, I'm not join themilitary, absolutely not.

And I popped up and I lookedaround and I said to myself,

"Remi, what else do you have?"

- [Narrator] Remi joined the Navy

and signed up to be a Navy SEAL.

He passed the grueling trainingand earned his trident.

- Especially coming fromthe background I came from

and now achieving what I achieved

and graduating from SEAL training,

probably the most elitemilitary program on

the face of this planet.

I was just very, very prideful.

Especially because Ihad achieved greatness.

- But Remi still had an emptinessthat needed to be filled.

- I was in the clubs every weekend,

sleeping around, partying.

You know, I was vulgar, combative, I was out of control.

And I had a girlfriend at the time.

You know I cheated on her.

I mean, I was just, I wasjust a bad dude towards her

and she wouldn't leave me.

She stayed with me and shewould take me to church.

- [Narrator] During therelationship Remi's team was sent to

the Alaska wilderness for acold weather survival training.

Alone on a hike, he again heard a voice.

But this time, he knew who it was.

- I remember just walkingthrough the wilderness

and just mesmerized by thenature, the beauty, the silence.

But in the midst of that silence,

God began to reveal Himself to me.

God showed me what I had become.

And I just remember feelingdisgusted with what I saw.

And I decided, you knowwhat, I'm gonna fix myself.

I'm going to change myself.

- [Narrator] Once back onbase, he called his girlfriend.

- I just wants you toknow that when I get back

I wanna marry you.

I'm gonna be a better man.

I'm working on myself to change myself,

but I'm going to be better.

And she said, "I'mleaving you, it's over."

I fell into a deep depression.

And I remember my brother toldme when you hit rock bottom

because it's gonnahappen, cry out to Jesus.

When you tried everythingand nothing's worked,

cry out to Jesus.

I finally said, "Jesus, I need your help."

- [Narrator] But he was stillreeling from the breakup

and called his ex when he got home.

- Because in my naive crazymind I felt like the answer

to fixing my problemswas for her take me back.

So I said, "Please take me back."

She said, "No, I won't take you back."

And I said, "Okay, ifyou won't take me back,

can you at least take me to church?"

And then she paused and then she said,

"Okay, I won't take you back, but I'll take you to church."

I just got up and I said, "Ineed something greater than me.

And if this Jesus is greaterthan me and if he's real

then that's going to be my solution."

And so I went to the alter

and I surrendered my life to Jesus.

Instantaneously like my life changed.

- [Narrator] Over the next three months

Remi let his heavenly Father bring healing

to his mind and soul.

- His presence was so tangible to me that

I looked to him.

This is my father teachingme how to treat women.

This is my father teachingyou how to be a man now

and what real manhood is.

- [Narrator] In 2016,Remi left the military

and started a consulting business.

One day he got an unusual call.

They were filming a new Transformers movie

and needed someone with hisexpertise for a small role.

The director was Michael Bay.

- I was like, "Wow, this is crazy."

Because this is the guy

whose first two filmsinspired me to be a SEAL.

- [Narrator] Today, Remi isstill in the film industry

as an actor and screenwriter.

And he's enjoying his greatest role yet

as a husband to his wife,Jessica, and father to three sons.

In his book Transformed, he shares how God

has guided his life evenwhen he didn't realize that

- I can go to my HeavenlyFather to get direction.

Whether it's throughprayer, through fellowship

or through the Scriptures, you know.

I have a father.

- You know I think whenall of us are growing up

we're looking for someone to be the father

the mother to give us directions.

To explain what life is all about.

Some people have thatand some people don't.

But when it's missing, when it's missing

and we are left to our own devices

we make so many wrong choices.

And we find ourselves incompromised situations.

And yet, in almost every story I hear is

this still small voice of Godis coming from this side or

from this side and a littleway here and little way there.

Even though we might notbe willing to listen to it

or recognize it initially.

It makes impact and then that moment comes

that Remi's brothersaid comes to everybody.

When you come to the end of yourself.

You know, there's something in us I think

that makes us feel like I can fix this.

I can get better.

I can do this.

I can eliminate that.

But we don't.

I mean, if we could get ittogether on our own wouldn't

the world look like adifferent place today.

We cannot.

We are a mess without God

because we were created tohave relationship with Him.

And so left to our owndevices, directionless,

we just spin out of controllike Remi said he did.

And then, in a moment in time

God begins to reveal Himself to us

and he speaks to our hearts.

And you know, I love the factthat Remi went to the altar

and he committed what he knewbelonged to God; his life.

But he didn't have it all together yet.

You know what he did after that?

He went to the Word.

He started finding out who is God.

Who are you, Jesus?

Why, why am I giving my life to you?

And how do I connect with you

so I can live the way you created me to?

Do you know the Bible saysthat's available to anyone

who calls upon the name of the Lord?

The surrender is thebeginning but the process

that follows is what changes us.

And so today if you'relooking for direction

and focus in your lifeand you haven't found it

come to Christ.

It's the whole reason he came for you,

for your life, for your need.

Get into the Word of God.

- Thanks so much, Terry.

Well, still to come a lookinto the private journal

of a young believer.

Author and speaker, Carrie Pash, tells us

why your story matters.

She joins us next; stay with us.

Well, when it comes to matters of faith

many people may say,"Sure, I believe in God.

I go to church once in a while.

I even pray on occasion."

But what happens when religion

suddenly turns into relationship?

Carrie Pash chronicles herjourney of faith in her new book

Your Story For His Glory.

And Carrie joins us now.

Carrie, welcome to the program.

- Well, thank you somuch for having me today.

It's great to be here.

- We're glad you're here.

Well, you never.- Thank you.

- You never doubted God existed,

but you definitely hit a season

in which God really captured your heart

in a very powerful way.

What happened?

- Sure, so I was raised in a Catholic home

and was familiar withGod and Jesus's story,

but I never had a personalrelationship with him.

I knew details about Jesus's life,

but that was the extent ofmy relationship with him.

Fast forward into my 20s,

which was actually a reallydifficult time for me.

I'm someone who has epilepsy.

So during that time I actuallyhad three really close calls.

But after each one of those instances,

I came out completely unharmed and okay.

And that was a miracle to me.

It was actually during those times

that I'd became fullyaware of God's presence

and his hand of protection over my life.

And just looking back, Irealize that even though

those were really difficult times for me,

I had to go through themin order for my heart

to be fully awakened tohis calling on my life.

- Yeah, one thing I enjoyedabout your book is that after

this encounter with Godyou changed your life.

I mean, you change theway you went about life,

including really tryingto make space for God

to move in your life.

How did you do that?

Sure, so I really believe

that God deserves everysingle piece of us, you know.

Every ounce of our time and our energy.

But at the same time, Ibelieve he understands

that's really hard for us to do.

You know, he knows aboutall the distractions we face

every single day in our life,

especially with all thetechnology at our fingertips.

But I think it's so criticalfor us to carve out time

every single day to be with God.

whether that's in the morning or night,

but the key word is consistently.

You know, mark it in yourcalendar, set an alarm,

spend time with God.

Because if we don't, we'regoing to miss out on all

the beautiful ways he'strying to speak to us.

I mean, if you think about it,

when you start a new friendship

or relationship withsomeone, what do you do?

You spend time with them.

You get to know their voice

and all the ways they communicate.

And it's the same thing with God.

If we want to learn those ways about him

then we have to spend time with him.

- Yeah, and Carrie, one thingthis time with God did for you

was obviously some realfruit came from that.

He revealed things to you,

including an interesting revelation

that you journaled about.

And that was you asked yourself,

whose cross am I really caring?

How do you mean?

- Right, yeah.

So, you know, like I mentioned before,

there are so many distractions in life.

And one of those types of distractions

are the opinions of others.

And it's one thing to careabout someone's opinion,

especially someone who'sclose close to you.

But it's another to let thoseopinions really control you.

And for a long time I did just that.

I let people's opinionsdictate my feelings.

Whether it was feelingsof needing to fit in

or feelings of justneeding to please people.

And it became an exhausting way to live

until eventually, I realizedthat there's really only

one person's opinionthat matters in my life

and that's God's.

And so I just realigned my thinking

and I stopped focusingon carrying the cross

or the burdens of others

and instead focused oncarrying Jesus's cross

where the burden's light andhe loves me just for who I am.

- Amen and you know

and a lot of people including Christians

are really paralyzed by fear.

And because of that, aswe go about life we say,

"What if this could happen?

What if that could happen?"

You really you said yousay it's simply turn

that what if around.

How do you mean?

- Yeah, because like you said,I think it's so easy for us

to tag a negative train of thought onto

that short phrase ,what if.

And then before you know it

your thoughts arespiraling out of control.

And you're living in this fear based mind.

And that's so easy to doin today's day and age.

You know, letting the whatifs get the best of you.

So yeah, I mean, I challengeeveryone to do just that.

Turn the what ifs around.

I mean, what if that phrasedidn't have to be negative?

You know, what if I said

I'm gonna make today a greatday, live life to my fullest

and not let the whatof tomorrow get to me?

And what if I just remindmyself God's in control

and he's got it?

You know, what if you did that exercise?

I think you would be pleasantlysurprised how quickly

you'd stop living in fearand start living in freedom.

And it's an awesome way to live.

I really suggest you try it.

- Absolutely and Isuggest people get a copy

of Carrie's book.

It is called Your Story For His Glory.

And it's availablewherever books are sold.

Carrie, I wanna thank you so much

for being with us today.

- [Carrie] Thank youso much for having me.

- Terry.

- Yeah, what a wonderful thought.

You know, I think inpraise and thanksgiving

the Bible says we're to dothat in every circumstance,

good, better and different.

But in that comes an understandingof the majesty of God

and the fact that he's got it.

- And what I love abouther book is she stepped out

and responded to God and say,

"You're calling me I'm gonna respond."

And because of the time shespent at the Savior's feet

real fruit has come of that.

And great revelations of who God is.

- Yeah, he comes after us, butat some point along the way

we have to stretch our armsout and embrace him as well.

So great message, Carrie.

Well, we've got a wonderfulword for you from Revelation.

"He who sits on the throne said,

Behold, I am making all things new."

Monday, they've packedup billions of views

and millions of followers.

We'll sit down with YouTube stars.
