- Time for your email questions, and Pat,
this first one comes from Doris,
who says, "Why don't morepastors talk about hell?
"Jesus did.
"It's like there is no hell.
"Don't you think it wouldhelp people to accept Christ,
"knowing there is a consequence?"
- Well, you know, the Biblesays to do one of the things,
you can either win them with love
or hold them over thefire (laughs) and let them
feel the heat of the fire.
You know, right now, peoplelike to hear about prosperity,
they like to see about blessing, they like to hear about,
"Well, you're gonna live a happy life,
"you're gonna be blessed by God."
And they don't want to hear about the fact
that there's a hell.
But hell is real, folks, and I find that
the more we talk about it,the more people come to Jesus,
because they have torealize that heaven is real
and hell is real, andthe decisions we make
in this life will affectour eternal destiny.
So, is there a real hell?
Jesus talked about Gehenna,He talked about the fire
not being quenched, the worm not die.
He's talked about it overand over again, and said,
"Fear him who having once killed the body
"has the power to put you in hell."
So if it was that real to Jesus,
it oughta be real to us, okay?
- This is Aaron, who says, "How do we grow
"to the point where we can easily discern
"the voice of the Holy Spirit?"
- The Bible says, "Through reason of use,
"having your senses exercisedto discern good from evil."
You've just gotta practice.
You've gotta get used to it,over and over and over again.
And as you listen to the voice of the Lord
and you walk with Him, "by reason of use,
"having your senses exercised," all right?
- [0] This is Shimmy, she says, "Hi, Pat.
"I'm planning to move into asmall one-bedroom apartment
"with a stranger who is not aChristian, but is spiritual.
"She sees God as a higherpower or as the universe.
"She uses incense and sageto purify her apartment
"and practices yoga.
"I've been a Christian for many years
"and I am committed to my faith.
"I'm worried that this living arrangement
"could be spiritually compromisingif I'm not very careful.
"However, it's what I canafford financially right now.
"Should I be concerned?"
- You'd better be concerned.
Let's face it, "Can two walk together,
"except they be agreed?"
You're gonna be in thepresence of somebody
who apparently is into, well, whatever it is,
spiritism or amulets orcrystals or whatever,
just forget it.
God can give you the moneyto afford a decent apartment.
You don't have to do this.
Don't compromise for money, all right?
- This is Gabby, who says,"I've been dating a man
"for just a month now.
"I grew up as an evangelical Christian,
"and I'm now 35 yearsold and believe the Bible
"is the inerrant word of God.
"My boyfriend is Anglican.
"He says Christians shouldread the Bible allegorically,
"that it was put together by men,
"so it probably has contradictions.
"He doesn't understandhell as being a real place.
"How do I respond to his views?
"Are his views dangerous?
"And do we just believe toodifferently to keep dating?
"Help!"
- Here again, look, heaven is real.
Life with the Lord is real.
The joy of the Lord is tremendous,
and walking together with peopleof like mind is wonderful.
"How good and how pleasant it is
"for brethren to dwell together in unity!"
You will have nothingbut turmoil in a union
with somebody like that,so don't get involved!
Life is too short!
Just say, "Thanks, you'vebeen a good friend,
"and we'll remain friends for a long time.
"In the meantime, seeyou later," you know?
Okay?
