HOW DO I BREAK THIS ADDICTION? WHY IS IT TAUGHT IN BAPTIST CHURCHES THAT JESUS WILL RETURN TWICE? ARE YOU REQUIRED TO BE BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE SAVED AND BORN AGAIN AND GO TO HEAVEN? Read Transcript

- Well you know we love tohear from you and so it's time

to answer some of the emailquestions that you've sent in

and Pat this first onecomes from Bonnie who says:

I tithe my social securitycheck but my new husband,

as a new Christian, doesnot want to tithe his.

I asked him if could take his tithe out

of my social security check, which is his money too.

He does not want to.

He did not want me to tithemine either, but now says

my $100 is enough.

Our church really needs the money.

What should I do?

- Well Bonnie the first thingis this has nothing to do

with how much your churchneeds your money it has to do

with the fact that youwanna be blessed by God.

So I recommend you takeMalachi and open it to the

I think it's the third chapterand show him, you know:

"See if I would open the windows of heaven

"and pour to you such a blessingyou can not contain it."

And tell your dear husband Iwould like you and me to get

blessed and this is my way.

But if he doesn't want you totithe on his then don't break

up your family on something like that.

I mean, you know, just work together.

But if I were you I wouldjust take this and show him

and there are several others.

Jesus said, you know, thatyou give and it'll be given

to you, pressed down, running over, good and evil,

deep in your bosom.

Say to him, "Do you want usto, I want us to have a lot

"of money in our family dearand here's how to do it,"

you know what I'm saying?

All right, next question.

- Okay this is Joseph whosays: I need help in breaking

my addiction to pornography.

I've tried to stop it bymyself but it just doesn't

seem to work.

How do I break this addiction?

- You know what it says, ittakes 21 days to form a habit,

21 days to break a habit.

Now this means that for 21days you don't watch porn.

But it means day one I'mnot gonna watch porn today.

Next day, day two, I'm notgonna watch porn today.

Next day, I'm not gonna watchporn today and before long

it'll get so that youdon't need to watch porn

but that is an addiction likeevery other kind and you know

the Bible says theymade a show of them open

and the chances are you'reashamed of the fact you're

watching porn in some darkplace and it may be you need

an accountability groupwhere you can confess some

of these things.

You know that's why the Catholicchurch the confessionals

are not a bad thing with stuff like this.

But, you know, make a show ofthem openly, don't hide it.

You're trying to bottle it up,I don't want anybody to know.

Maybe you tell your wife, maybeyou tell some dear friend,

maybe he has a pastor whoknows better and you can work

with him but you needto, you know, make a show

of them openly all right.

- You know and I think alsoas I listen to this question,

when you're gonna diet what do they say?

Clean your pantry out ofall the junk also get rid

of anything you've got.

- Yeah and do it right now, that's the first thing.

Get away with the DVD andof course you're watching

it on the internet, you'rewatching it in your.

Cut, you know, I made acovenant with my eyes said Joe

I will not look upon a maid.

Make a covenant and do it all right.

- This is Gabby who says: Iam in my mid-thirties, lived

a great life of missionsand obedience to the Lord

and I am single, never married, no kids.

I have tried online datingand a lot, if not most,

of the men on there say theyare Christians but then they'll

smoke, drink party and evensmoke marijuana or have no

interest in living a godly life.

I met one guy who is wonderfuland grew up as a Christian

but doesn't necessarilyhave a good relationship

with Jesus now.

What is a single girl to do?

Do I just settle and marrysomeone that at least comes from

a Christian background butdoesn't really live out his walk

with Christ currently inhopes that one day he will?

Where are all the men who loveJesus and are spirit-filled?

I'm starting to lose hope.

- I'm sure there must be oneor two of 'em in the world

some place you can find.

But, you know, whateveryou do the Bible says,

"Don't be unequallyyoked with an unbeliever.

"For what fellowshiphas Christ with Belial?"

I'm telling you, you getmarried to somebody who doesn't

share your same beliefs andhe will be hell on earth

so don't do it.

You say well I'm gonna bean old maid well tough luck,

don't do it.

Now, quite ask the Lord, youknow, the Bible says open your

mouth wide and I'll fill it.

So, you know somebodyonce said I asked the Lord

for somebody who is a goodprovider, he was intelligent,

he was a good fatherand a wonderful husband

and a nice made for me butI didn't ask for somebody

that didn't cheat.

So, I forgot, you know, youneed to make sure you ask

God for everything you want.

But set up a list ofwhat you're looking for

and then go for the Lordand say, "Lord I ask you to,

"you know, you said youput the long in families

"and why don't you give me a family?"

Now, it may not be theLord's will for you.

You know what the Apostle Paul said,

"he that is single isdedicated to the Lord.

"Somebody who's married he'snow looking after his wife,

"the wife's looking after her husband."

So it may be God wantsyou for himself so keep

that in mind and reallyget serious with it

and then it's before you and God

and he'll answer your prayer, all right.

- Okay, this is Nelsonwho says: why is it taught

in Baptist churches thatJesus will return twice?

- Well I tell you what it'snot just Baptist churches

but that's an error that has been put out.

There was a woman, a littlegirl in a Pentecostal meeting

they're called Irvinites overin England and she started

prophesying all this stuffand there was a guy named

John Nelson Darby who heard it and said,

"Oh boy this must be ofGod," and he started writing

and then there was afella named C. I. Scofield

who listened to Darby andhe started, he did the notes

on a Bible and that'swhere it's come about.

The Bible doesn't teach thisidea of a secret rapture.

It says, "The Lord willdescend with a shout of command

"and the dead of Christ shallraise first and he will come

"with his angels and send hisangels to gather the elect

"from the four corners of the earth."

There's nothing in thereabout some secret catching up,

seven years in advance orsome pre-trib and you've got

all these annominations onpre-trib, post-trib, mid-trib

and all that.

There's one time, onetime he's gonna come back

and when he comes he will takeus to be with him in the air.

One time, all right.

- This is Debra who says: areyou required to be baptized

in order to be saved andborn again and go to heaven?

Is this a requirement inGod's eyes to be a disciple

in heaven and to be with Jesus in heaven?

- The Apostle Paul said Goddidn't send me to baptize

but to preach the Gospel.

He said oh yeah I didbaptize a couple of people

and he had a householdwith staff and so forth.

But the thing is, thepreaching of the Gospel

what saves you?

Jesus Christ died for yoursins and he rose again

according to the scripturesand you believe in that

and you've received himand you're born again,

that's what brings you in.

Baptism is an act of obediencefollowing that conversion

but that isn't what saves you, all right.

- Okay one quick last one:Pat with Easter coming up soon

could you elaborate onsome of these terms?

I am not sure if we shouldbe observing any or all:

the transfiguration, Ash Wednesday, lent,

Good Friday, the ascension.

Many thanks, Mary.

- I've only got 40 seconds andI couldn't possibly do that

but most of these are part ofthe ritual of Ash Wednesday

and stuff this is in thechurch but you know the trouble

is that's what they callFat Tuesday Mardi Gras

where they have it's an orgyof excess and that is sinful

in its core but the ideaof lent and so forth I mean

I think it's mostly from thetradition in the Catholic

church but you know if youwanna celebrate those things

don't worry about it.
