Do you want to be all in with God, but can’t seem to get away from porn? Ryan Ries, co-founder of The Whosoevers Movement, shares how he got “unhooked” from porn, and how you can too. Read Transcript

- [Gordon] Pornography is rampant.

- I was like six yearsold or seven years old,

they were in the duffle bag on paper.

- [Gordon] Even in the church.

- Christian kids are watching pornography

because they think that ifthey watch porn it's okay

because they're not having sex.

- [Gordon] Ryan Ries shareshow to unhook from porn.

Plus, 20 years of pain.

- Sometimes when I wouldjust move or bend down,

it would aggravate it.

- Gone in a moment.

That and more on today's700 Club Interactive.

We live in a time when weare bombarded by images,

and those images aredesigned to trigger lust.

Sadly, 47% of familiesin the United States

say porn is a problem in their home.

- Nine out of 10 childrenbetween the ages of eight

and 16 have viewedpornography on the internet.

Porn can warp a child's view of sex

and expose them to many risks, such as loss of innocence,

pedophilia, and sex trafficking.

Ryan Ries was just a kidwhen he was first introduced

to the world of porn, but hesays you can unhook yourself

and find freedom, take a look.

- Ryan, thank you somuch for being with us.

It's an honor to have you.

In our culture nowadays, porn, as you know,

is not just tolerated,it's actually promoted,

celebrated, it's crazy.

What's your journey, how did you encounter it

and how did that lead you in your life?

How did that affect your life?

- I got exposed topornography at a young age.

I was like six yearsold or seven years old.

They were in a duffel bag on paper,

when porn was on paper, imagine that.

And I remember seeing these images

that I could literallynever get out of my mind.

And that created the bodyappetites of the flesh.

That fire started inside of me.

And from that age, seeingpornography here and there,

as I was growing up, later on that led me

to wanting to sleep withgirls at a young age.

And once you start sleeping with girls,

that fire inside you really explodes.

- So it fueled it, the porn,

you feel like it fueled that desire.

- It fueled it, yeah, it got it going.

It got it going, andthen as I would dabble

with porn here and there, don't get me wrong,

I wasn't addicted to it,but I'd be watching it

here and there and thatwould continue to fuel

that fire for different girls.

- And that's what peoplethink, many times they think,

oh, it's just harmless, I'm just watching

something on the computer screen.

Nobody's gotta know about it.

I'm not harming anybody.

But the problem is what it can lead to

and what it creates in your heart,

and like you said, in your mind.

- Christian kids are watching pornography

because they think that ifthey watch porn it's okay

because they're not having sex.

Because the bible teaches against sex,

but the eye is the light to the body

that the bible talks about.

Even Jesus says even if youlook at on a woman with lust,

you're committing adultery.

Well, Jesus addressed porn back then.

- [Roberto] He did, yeah, He did.

- Right there on the spot.

I managed a professionalskateboarding team

for like 10 years, I've been working

in the music industry forlike 20 years at that point,

and I've had everything Iever wanted, I was just empty.

I just remember ninedays of cocaine, Xanax,

and alcohol, I OD'd.

I came out of it the nextmorning by God's grace

because of prayers, andI just said, "Jesus,

"if you're real, forgive me for my sins,

"come into my life.

"If you're real, prove that you're real."

And nothing supernaturalhappened, nothing crazy,

but there was a bible in the hotel room

that I stole from thehotel, a Gideon bible.

Shout out to the Gideons.- Yeah.

- And stealing that bible wasthe best decision of my life.

I got on the plane, I read itfor like five hours straight,

or I think it was six hours straight.

And I just landed and I felt peace

like I never have in my life.

And that was the work of the Holy Spirit.

God came, invaded my life, flooded me with His presence,

the Holy Ghost, and Godstarted working supernaturally.

Just in the naturalrealm, but supernaturally,

and started changing myheart's desires and my mindset,

and even going after todestroy my body appetites.

The sex, the porn, the drugs, the alcohol,

all these things, andGod just captured me.

And I've never been thesame since that day.

- I've had my ownstruggles with pornography,

and for me, and other peoplethat I've experienced,

they ask God to deliverthem instantaneously.

They want a complete, likejust take these desires

and I will never have to feel temptation,

I don't have to struggleever again, just zap me.

And I've met people that that happens.

And I'm sure you've met peoplewhere they experienced that.

But more often I see that He wants you go

through this processof killing your flesh,

surrendering, discipline, accountability,

and that was my process.

So for you, did youget zapped immediately?

Did all of it go away,or did it take time?

- Did not go away immediately.

Porn was a hard thing for me to quit

because I gave my life to God,I stopped sleeping with girls

so that's when actuallyporn came more into my life

because I like, secret sin, no one knows.

But basically after sixmonths I just remember

as I was reading thescriptures, 'cause I wanted

to learn more about God,and I got to that verse,

"If you wanna be mydisciple or my follower,

"you gotta turn from your selfish ways,

"pick up your cross and follow me.

"What does a man profit ifhe gains the whole world

"and he loses his own soul?

"Is there anything worthmore than his soul?"

See, I'm a skateboarder, so the last thing

you want to be is a poser.- Wow.

- A poser is if I have a skateboard

and I dress like a skaterand I scratch my board up

on the curb and then Itake pictures on Instagram

and be like, yeah man, I'm rippin',

and my board's all scratched up

because it looks like I skated.

But I'm actually thebiggest poser on earth.

So I decided, I'm like, Idon't wanna be a poser anymore.

I'm double-minded, you know what I mean,

like it says in James.

So I'm like, I wanna be all in with God.

So I remember just beingin that room just saying,

"God, I don't wanna watchporn anymore, I'm done.

"I just want all in withyou, I wanna be 100%."

And I just said, "God,I need you to do it.'

And obviously we can do all things

through Christ who strengthens us,

through the work of the Holy Ghost,

and I just prayed that God would do it.

And I'd get those urgesand I would just be like,

no, I'm not doing it, and that was brutal.

In Romans 8:13 it says ifyou live after the flesh

ye shall die, but if yelive after the Spirit

and do mortify the deeds ofthe flesh, ye shall live.

That's only in the King James Version.

Mortify, when you lookthat up in the dictionary,

means to self-inflictpain, murder your flesh.

Get your flesh, your body appetites--

- Crucify it.- And kill it.

- You gotta kill it, you gotta kill it.

- And guess what, it hurts, it's not easy.

- [Roberto] No, it's not.

- It is not easy, it is brutal.

The more you bow your will, the more you surrender to God,

when you surrender and bow your will,

that's the true way to worship Christ.

- You're so into it, you'resold out for the Lord

and you said, "I'm not gonna do this,"

and you went through aperiod of singleness.

- Okay, here, life application.

I was like, "God, I'm notgonna watch porn anymore."

I also made a commitmentand said, "I'm gonna wait

"for you to bring the girl of my dreams."

I said, "God, I'm notgonna put more garbage in.

"I wanna brainwash my mind, literally brain wash my mind

"with the Word of God, likesoap and water brain wash it,

"to remove as much as possible."

And I stuck to that for five years.

And there was girls around.- Five years.

- Five years.- Wow.

- I used to hook up with a lotof girls and different things

so this was a miraclethat this even happened.

- You endured, and then whathappened, you got married?

- I got married to thisgirl, which was just amazing.

More than I ever, everthought would be possible.

- That's amazing, that's amazing.

And the Lord fulfilledthe desires of your heart.

- Dude, and then some.

- Yeah, yeah, would you pray for people?

- Yes.

- I know that people are watching

and I just sense that youhave something to pray

that God would stir people's hearts

and that He would deliver, that people would make a choice

and like you say thisis it, I am not going

to continue this lifestyle,

I'm not gonna continuewatching pornography.

Would you pray with us?- Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Lord, I just pray for everyonethat's watching right now.

Lord, I pray that you willjust invade them, God,

right where they're at,just pour out your Spirit

on them, Lord.

I pray for any strongholds or footholds

that the enemy may have in people's lives.

I pray that you breakthem in the name of Jesus,

'cause there's power in your name.

And, Lord, I just pray supernaturally

that you would just touch their minds

and give them your mind, let them put on your mind,

put on the mind of Christ, Lord,

and bring their mindssubject to you, Lord.

In the mighty name ofJesus Christ set them free,

because whoever the Sonsets free is free indeed.

In Jesus' name, amen.- Amen and amen.

Ryan, this was powerful, thank you so much.

I pray that God continuesto use you powerfully,

and we look forward to seeingwhat God does in your life.

- Yeah, thank you for having me.

Awesome, man.

- Do what Ryan did.

You just heard his prayer over you

and you're wonderingcan this happen to me?

Can I really be free?

Ryan had that same moment.

He was in a hotel room atthat point in his life.

He had an addiction, and it was an addiction

to cocaine and alcohol.

He was involved with porn, he was involved

with sex outside of marriage.

He was having a lot of trouble and he said

a very simple prayer,"Jesus, if you're real,

"could you show me?"

And then he got a bible andstarted to read the bible.

And the words in thatbook became alive to him.

He spent the next fivehours reading a bible.

And through that he had anencounter with the living God.

Because God's Word isreal, and it's alive.

And it's one of the fewbooks, it's the only book,

where the author of thebook can come alongside you

and explain what it says.

Now, if you're like Ryan andyou're tired of being tired

and you're figuring out the things

that the world has to offer, and whether that's sex

or drugs or fame or money or you name it,

it's just not all it's cracked up to be.

It's just not working for you.

Are you looking for peace?

Because Ryan said he found peace.

At the end of that five hour period

and he turned his lifeover, suddenly he felt

this overwhelming peace come on him.

And then he said, "Idon't wanna be a poser,

"I wanna be all in."

And so he dedicated himself,I want to be all for you, God.

No longer my will but yourwill be done, I surrender.

Now, if this is for you, let's pray that same prayer

and let God do the same thingfor you that He did for Ryan.

Let's pray a prayer right now.

Jesus, that's right, just say His name

and say it out loud, Jesus, I come to you,

and Lord, I want to know that you're real,

that the things that thesepeople are talking about

can happen to me, that I can be set free.

I no longer have tolive under compulsions.

I no longer have to live myway, but I can live your way.

So Jesus, if you're there,if you're my Savior,

could you invade me too?

Can you have my thoughts, can you have my heart,

can you have my innermost being?

And can you transform me?

So Jesus, I open my heart to you.

I open my mind to you.

I open my innermost being to you.

And I ask that you comein, that you forgive me

of all the things that I've done wrong,

every bad act, every badword, every bad thought,

forgive me, make me new again.

And Jesus, if you do this for me,

I want to follow youall the days of my life.

Hear my prayer, for I prayit in Jesus' name, amen.

Father, for those who just prayed,

I ask for a baptism in your love.

I ask that you fill them with your love,

your peace, your forgiveness,your righteousness.

Let righteousness, peaceand joy be theirs right now,

in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

If you prayed with me, Iwant you to let me know.

So give me a call, 1-800-700-7000.

There'll be somebody on the phone

who's prayed that same prayer.

And if you need to confess anything,

you need to get anything off your heart,

we're here for you.

We're not here to judge you, we're here

to tell you God loves youand He wants to set you free

and He wants to forgive you of anything

you've ever done wrong.

When you call, I've gota free packet for you.

It's called, "A New Day,"and there's a CD teaching,

"What Do You Do Now?"

You can get it as a digital download,

if you don't have a CD player.

It's all free, packet'sfree, phone call's free.

- Amen and amen.

- Well, still to come, surgeons cut into her sternum

with a saw, and 20 years of pain followed.

- [Woman] I couldn't pick up anything,

caused it to hurt, just ache.

- It should have gone away, but some people never recover.

- [Gordon] So how did thiswoman finally get relief?

In an instant?

Stay with us to find out.

- Open heart surgery savedNancy Bradley's life.

But it also brought her a world of pain.

For 20 years she suffered, but she never lost hope

that one day she'd be healed.

- The doctor said that Iwould need open heart surgery

and that it would be five bypasses.

- [Reporter] It was 1998when Nancy Bradley learned

that all five major arteries

entering her heart were blocked.

The news left her andher husband Omar reeling.

- At 7:00 I had the stress test,

and by 11:00 I was in surgery.

- I was shocked that it was that serious,

because she had never slowed down any.

She just complained of beingshort of breath a little bit.

- [Reporter] The surgery was successful,

but recovery was a different story.

To access her heart, surgeons had to cut

into her sternum using a saw.

- I was in the hospital for nine days.

I came home on the 9thday, and I was really sore.

They had me wired together.

- [Reporter] As weeks, months, and years passed,

the pain persisted.

- It should have gone away, but some people never recover

from that because that's asensitive part of the body.

- I had a huge sensitivityin the sternal area.

I couldn't pick up anything.

And if I squeezedsomething, it centered right

into the sternal area andcaused it to hurt, just ache.

Sometimes when I wouldjust move or bend down

it would aggravate it.

- [Reporter] The paincontinued for 20 years,

with flareups so agonizingNancy often turned

to the Lord asking for relief.

- [Nancy] I'd say, "God, I giveit to you, I give it to you.

"I need your touch, I need your help.

"And you know, Lord, I'mtrusting for this to leave,

"in the name of Jesus."

- [Reporter] Throughthe years Nancy and Omar

have found encouragementwatching The 700 Club.

- When I listen to The 700 Club,

one of the greatest things that they do is

when they have a word of knowledge,

when they pray for someone

or when they bless somebody in some way.

That to me is so encouraging, so helpful.

- [Reporter] Then inJuly 2019 while watching

The 700 Club, Nancy heard a word

that was not only encouraging, but life changing.

- Gordon had a word of knowledge.

"There's someone that hadhad open heart surgery

"and they were havingproblem in the sternal area."

- There's someone,you've had recurring pain

in your sternum from open heart surgery

and it just never seems to go away.

And you're not even asking for relief,

but God sees your pain right now

and He's saying be healed, and that entire bone

be restored now, cause no more pain,

no more discomfort, in Jesus' name.

Be healed and be set free.

- I kind of jumped outof my chair and I said,

"That's me, I know it's me.

"God did something for me.

"I know God did something for me."

- And I said, "Is it bothering you now?"

And she said, "No, it's not,I don't hardly feel it."

- By the grace of God the pain is gone.

I do not have the pain.

And I am so grateful for what He did,

because I can lift now and I am free.

- [Reporter] Freedom from decades of pain

has given Nancy anew-found sense of living.

She exercises and walksmore and she continues

to live a life that testifies

of God's healing power and love.

- I try to live for Him every day

and ask for His blessingthat I would be a blessing

to others because He'ssuch a blessing to me.

And I'm so grateful.

- I didn't know Nancy, but God did.

He knew every detail.

He numbered every single hair on her head.

He loved her infinitely andHe wanted her to get healed.

Realize that, you don'thave to beg God for healing.

He wants to to do it.

He wants to pour out Hislove, His forgiveness,

His healing, He wants to be your Savior,

He wants to be your all in all.

He wants to be everything for you.

That is why we have allthese names for God.

Our healer, our provider, our deliverer,

our forgiver, our savior, our redeemer,

our Prince of Peace, all of these attributes

He wants to manifest in your life.

Now, what does it take?

Well, it takes you believing.

Just like a little child coming to Him

and saying, Daddy, I needhelp, will you help me now?

And which one of us if ourchild asks for something

will we withhold it?

God will not withhold anygood thing from His children.

So let's pray right now andlet God do all the rest.

Lord, we lift the needsof the audience to you.

And as people are asking for healing,

as people are asking for restoration,

for forgiveness, for finances,

we know that you wantto be their all in all.

So stretch forth your hand now

and do miracles in Jesus' name.

There's a woman, your name is Rhonda,

and you've discovered alump on your right breast.

And God is healing it right now.

He's taking it all away.

You can literally feel itshrink and go away right now.

In the name of Jesus, be healed,

be set free from that, Ashley.

- There's somebody watching, Michael,

you have esophagealcancer and the Lord says

"Do not yield to fear, I am the beginning

"and the end," He ishealing you right now.

Touch your throat, claim it, believe it,

and receive it right now.

Feel the warmth of God, that'sthe Holy Spirit touching you.

Be healed in Jesus' name.

Cancer melt, in Jesus' name.

- Now for all those who are asking

for a word of knowledge,we give them this word,

that He forgives all our iniquities,

He heals all our diseases.

Your request right now is part of all.

So be healed and be restored now.

In Jesus' name, amen and amen.

If you need healing, we're here for you.

All you have to do is call us.

We're just a phone callaway and we believe

in prevailing prayer, theprayer that gets an answer.

So call us, 1-800-700-7000, Ashley.

- Still to come, how canyou live your best life

right where you are?

- I'm telling you that youshouldn't run from your trials.

Stay right there where you're under heat

and you're under pressure, because only then

can diamonds be born.

Megachurch pastor and best-sellingauthor Jentezen Franklin

shares how to uncoverGod's best for your life.

He's here with us live, so stay with us.

- The grass always seemsgreener on the other side.

We think we'll be happierwhen we graduate college,

get a job promotion, loseweight, get married, have kids,

but Pastor Jentezen Franklin says we need

to resist those voices andlearn the art of being content.

- [Reporter] "New YorkTimes" best-selling author

and Pastor JentezenFranklin says that it's time

to open your eyes and seewhat's right in front of you.

- I'm telling you that youshouldn't run from your trials.

You shouldn't run from them,

for in them you will learn more.

You will become more, you will do more.

Stay right there where you're under heat

and you're under pressure, because only then

can diamonds be born.

- [Reporter] In his newbook, "Acres of Diamonds,"

Pastor Franklin shares how to dig deep,

uncovering your hidden potential,

and discovering God'sbest right where you are.

- Well, Jentezen Franklinis here with us now.

Jentezen, it's so good to have you.

- It's great to be here, thank you.

- Awesome, well, you got thenew book, "Acres of Diamonds,"

and oftentimes our culture isalways on to the next thing.

We're always lookingto the next best thing.

But you say we need tostay right where we are.

Talk about that.

- Yeah, the whole premise of the book is

around a true story of theworld's largest diamond mine

and how it was discovered.

What happened was a manwas working on this farm

and he got weary from the hard work,

plowing the fields and working the fields,

and someone told him thatthey were discovering diamonds

in India, and all he had todo was just go over there

and pick them up and bring them back

and he'd be amazingly wealthy.

So he did that, he sold the farm,

went off in search offortune, never found it.

Took his own life, left a note saying,

"There are no diamondsanywhere" to his family.

But the man who boughtthe farm in South Africa

took the same plow, the same fields,

and there were diamonds inthose fields in the rough.

And it was the world'slargest diamond find.

And the Queen of England got the diamonds

in her crown from that very place.

And the point is it's possiblethat you could be living

in acres of diamonds and not know it.

And by that, when I talk about diamonds,

I talk about the joys oflife, the joys of marriage,

the joys of family, that just because

things don't look goodon the surface right now,

you're not to give up and walk away.

But sometimes themiracle is in making sure

that we dig in our own yard.

The grass is not alwaysgreener on the other side.

- Yeah, amen to that.

What are the secrets to contentment?

Because it's hard,coming from a millennial,

we're so quick to look to social media,

oh, they're life's so much better,

but what are some of thesecrets to being content?

- I think it's adetermination in your own mind

to say I'm going to be planted.

I'm going to be plantedin some relationships.

They're power relationshipsthat if you disconnect from

your life will never be asstrong as it would have been

if you would have stayedconnected with those people.

Also, there's powerful placesthat God assigns us to.

And in those moments whenwe feel like quitting,

when we feel like givingup, if we will learn

to be planted, stay there.

For me, success in our ministry in Georgia

is a four letter word, stay.

He said in Psalm 23, "He leads me

"beside the still watersand makes me to lay down

"in green pastures," and onetime the Lord spoke to me

and said, "If you'll laydown, I'll green it up."

I just kept wanting to jump the fence

'cause the grass lookedgreener somewhere else.

I had an opportunity, I hada guy in Southern California

to call me right afterwe'd been at our church

for about two years, andall kinds of challenges,

needing to buildbuildings and the pressure

and financially tryingto get all that done.

And right in the middle of that

a very successful pastorcalled me and said,

"I'm retiring, I've gota brand new building.

"I've got an amazing Orange County.

"Would you come takethis church, it's ready."

But I heard the Lord say"Stay where you are."

And to make a long story short,

if you'll lay down, He'll green it up.

He makes you to lay down.

So get planted and make surethat you don't walk away

from that marriage or thatfamily or that relationship

that is full of acres of diamonds

if you can withstandthe heat and pressure.

- I love that.

You have a chapter in your bookcalled Hell in the Hallway,

and you talk about that God,oftentimes He closes a door.

And when that happens, sometimesit's hell in the hallway.

So what advice do you give to people

to not lose heart if that'sthe case in their life?

- Yeah, I think we've allheard that saying that

when God closes one door He opens another.

And that's true, and wethink it's instantly.

But it's not, and I'vehad Him close one door

and then no other door opened,

and that's when it's hell in the hallway.

And that's what we talk about.

And I think the key to thatsituation is understanding

that God is working in that season

when it looks like nothing is happening,

when it feels like nothing is happening.

Something is happening, Godis doing something powerful.

And we grow, the hard places of life lead

to the high places, andwhen you begin to understand

that God's timing is not like our timing.

The greatest miracles thatGod will do in your life

are in the most inopportune times.

When you feel like your timing is

I should have been married by now,

I should have had babies by now,

or I should have reachedthis zenith in my career,

but God's timing is not our timing.

And what He teaches us inthat hallway is to trust me.

- Amen to that.

We could keep talking to you, Jentezen,

you're so encouraging.

To learn more, be sure toget Jentezen's new book.

It's called "Acres of Diamonds,Discovering God's Best

"Right Where You Are."

And you can get it in stores nationwide.

Thank you so much for being here.

- Thank you, it's an honor.

- It's always a pleasure having you.

- Thank you very much.

- And we leave you guys with scripture

from Philippians 4:11, Notthat I speak from what I want,

for I have learned to be content

in whatever circumstances I am.

Be encouraged by that, wise words from Jentezen.

God has you exactly whereyou are for a divine reason.

We love you guys so much, thank you for joining us.

We will see you next timeon 700 Club Interactive.
