- Hello and welcome to US bank

stadium here in Minneapolisfor CBN's coverage

of the 2019 final fourwhere the Virginia Cavaliers

have won their first NCAA championship

since 1984 and they hadto work for all of it

because Texas Tech kept coming and coming

closing gap after gapuntil they forced overtime.

And then, the Cavs settled it at the line.

Was anybody as exhaustedafter that game as I was?

Man, we'll go down to thelockers for some player reaction

but first, you have tosee these highlights.

- [Commentator] Virginia pulledaway early in the first half

there's Kyle Guy for three.

Then with 9:37 left inthe first half, here come

the red raiders for thisthree by Brandone Francis.

Later followed by anotherone by Kyler Edwards.

Then with under seven minutes left,

here's Tariq Owens witha dunk for the lead,

their first of the night.

Then after this threepointer by Ty Jerome,

Virginia enters the half up 32:29.

Second half, Virginia cameout swinging with this

three by the sharp shooter Kyle Guy.

And later De'Andre Hunter receives a sweet

pass for the lay in, Cavaliers up 40:31.

Then here's Tech'sBrandone Francis for three

to begin closing the gap again.

Then at 10:24 here'sKyle Guy again for three.

Virgina now up 53:43

Later with 4:15 left in the game,

Matt Mooney drains one from the arc,

followed by this three by Davide Moretti.

And here they come.

Then, Jarrett Culver makes a nice move

to the basket for two to takethe lead back 66:65 Texas Tech

Then with fourteenseconds left in the game,

De'Andre hunter drainsthis three, ties the score,

and we head into overtimewhich was settled at the line,

and the Virginia Cavaliersare national champs.

- [Kihei Clark] We knew theywere gonna make their run,

they're a great team just like

any other team in the country.

They really made it hard for us on offense

and we knew they weregonna make shots I mean,

basketball's a game of runso when they made their run,

they made plays, we justdidn't panic and just

trusting the guys and trusting the system.

- It's a blessing I mean Itold my uncle, Uncle Ralph,

after this we did it for him because

he obviously didn't get one but I mean

he was so great for this program,

He made everything happen for this program

and just put it on the map and I mean

It's not even about usit's I mean the fans,

everybody back in Charleston.

- We came in together, and said we were gonna win

a national championship and you know,

to be able to hug each otherwith confetti going everywhere

and say we did it, it's you know,

the greatest feeling I'veever felt in basketball.

- I think there was abigger plan going on here.

I wouldn't need it but I was used in it,

and I hope that you knowit's a message for some

people out there, therecan be hope and joy

and resiliency and I'mthankful for what happened,

that's what I did at the end I just,

when that horn went offI just put my head down

and I said, "Thank you, I'm humble lord"

because I don't deserve to be in this spot

but you chose me to behere and I'll give thanks

and I told our guys inthe locker room I said,

"Put your arms aroundeach other, take a look at

every guy in here, look at each other."

I said, "Promise me you willremain humble and thankful

for this, don't let this change."
