- [Male Announcer] The following program

is sponsored by CBN.

- [Female Announcer] Coming up...

- [Male Announcer] CBN,

the Christian Broadcasting Network.

- [Female Announcer]Celebrate the 57th anniversary

of the ministry that changed the world.

- Probably seen morepeople come to the Lord

through CBN than any otherorganization in the world.

- [Female Announcer] Andget ready for the next stage

of broadcast history.

- It wasn't me,

it was God.

- [Female Announcer] On today's

700 Club.

(theme music)

- Well it was

Sunday afternoon,

October the first,

1961.

A fledgling little UHF television station

called WYAHTV

1,000 watt transmitter,

17,000 ARP

began its first broadcast.

That was a long time ago.

57 years ago, to be precise.

And today marks that special anniversary

because today, we're going to inaugurate

something called the CBN News

24 hour a day news channel

that's

gonna be one more

phase

in this unfolding drama

of CBN.

- Who knew

back in 1961, right?

- For sure, I wouldn't...

You know, Terry, I was thinking,

when we first went on the air,

we didn't have a decent monitor,

and we literally, I mean, this is a true story,

there was a little convenience store

down the block from us

and we used to have to run down there,

have them turn their TV onto see if we were on the air.

I mean,

that's the honest truth.

And all we did was get around the block,

now we're around the world,59 different languages and

all kinds of

situations.

And,

seeing probably each year

well over a hundred million people

accept Jesus as savior.

It's just amazing.

Who would have thoughtwhat God was going to do?

Terry?

- Exactly.

Well during this hour, weregonna go back to the day

it all started

and show you the amazing miracles

God has done in our 57years of ministries.

Plus,

well, it was supposed to be a surprise

but now he's announced it,

we have an exciting newdevelopment for CBN News,

but we'll tell you moreabout it in just a little bit

so stay tuned.

(Terry laughs)

- But first in the news,

ha ha ha,

the FBI investigation inthe allegations against

Brett Kavanaugh

is supposed to

be over by the end of the week

and the Senate can then vote because

some conservatives believe

the Democrats wanna tryto delay the vote again.

But,

it's not gonna happen and

as a matter of fact, the

prosecutor who was doing thequestioning for the Republicans

said there is no way

that this case

could've ever gone to trial

because there's too many inconsistencies.

Amber Strong has more on that story.

- The FBI is looking to follow up

into any new information

when it comes to thosesexual assault allegations

against Supreme Courtnominee Brett Kavanaugh.

In a surprise turn of events,

Republican Senator JeffFlake suggesting a delay

to the Senate floor vote.

- We ought to do

what we can to make sure

that we do all due dilligence...

- [Amber] And layingthe current guidelines

of a one week investigation,

limited to the currentincredible allegations.

But some Senate Democrats saythat may not be enough time.

Others concerned the White House

may be dictating the termsof the investigation.

- I've never heard that the White House,

either under this presidentor other presidents is saying,

"Well you can't interview this person,

"you can't look at this time period,

"you can only look at these people

from one side of the street."

- [Amber] Press SecretarySarah Sanders says

they're staying out of it.

- The White House isn't intervening,

we're not micromanaging this process.

- [Amber] But someRepublicans want their own

investigation

into how Dr. Christine Ford's letter

about Kavanaugh was leaked to the media.

- I'm gonna call for an investigation of

what happened in this committee.

Who betrayed Dr. Ford's trust.

- [Amber] Regardless, Senate Democrats say

the haring itself

gives insight intoKavanaugh's political leaning.

- As I watched, and part of me thought,

this is a man who believes

that he did nothing wrongand he is completely

unjustly accused.

There were some lines

that he delivered that were sharper,

more partisan, more

this is the Clinton's paying me back.

- [Amber] Flake says heempathizes with Kavanaugh's anger.

- It was anger.

But if I were unjustly accused,

that's how I would feel as well.

- [Amber] Meanwhile, the Kavanaugh hearing

is opening up the door to conversations

about the larger issue of sexual assault

from everyday citizens...

- [Voice Of Caller]I'm a 76 year-old woman

who was sexually molestedin the second grade.

This brings back so much pain.

- [Amber] To the White House staff.

- I'm a victim of sexual assault.

I don't expect JudgeKavanaugh, or Jake Tapper,

or Jeff Flake,

or anybody

to be held responsible for that.

You have to be responsiblefor your own conduct.

- Someone who actually violated a woman

to sit in the Supreme Court.

- Many women have protested Kavanaugh,

others have stood by himcalling Senate offices

in support of the judge.

Now that investigationhas to be wrapped up

by the end of the week but

that doesn't mean it's over.

House Democrats say

they could launch aninvestigation themselves,

should they take the House in November.

Amber Strong, CBN News, Washington.

- Can you imagine

somebody exposing himself to this kind of

treatment?

I mean,

who would want to be a candidate for any

government office

if the Democrats are gonnapull those games on him?

You know, and the thing of it is,

Senator Feinstein held that

letter

for months.

Absolutely for months.

Never let anybody know about it.

Then began to leak it,

then she hired lawyers for the

woman who

was tied into the Democratsin some fashion or another

but then they began to call

after she had made that

disclosure

in order to stall the hearings,

they said, "Well, we've gottahave an FBI investigation."

Senator Flake is key.

There are only about two or three Senators

that are key.

Susan Collins of Maine,

Susan Mikowski,

from Alaska,

and then of course, you've got

two or three Democrats, Heidi Heitkamp,

Joe Manchin, et cetera

who would tip

the scale.

The Republicans do not have enough votes.

But the amazing thing,

the Senator from Connecticutwas already calling for

Kavanaugh to withdrawbefore those hearings

even began.

So, their minds were already made up.

It was a

complete smear job.

Think of somebody who's a candidate

and all of a sudden,

the jokes that he made whenhe was a high school student

in a yearbook,

the little indiscretions hemade when he was 15 years-old

were suddenly gonna become national news.

Who in the world would want that?

And who would try to

pick a

leader of anything onthe basis of what he did

when he was 15, or 16, or 17?

It doesn't make any sense at all.

It's amazing nonsense.

But we are embroiled in that and the whole

nation was

riveted to it.

But it looks as if

Kavanaugh is going to be confirmed

and the question is

what will the FBI find?

They're gonna find exactly what the

Judiciary Committee had found

and there are too many consistencies.

There's one thing

that I think we need to discuss

that I can't discuss it.

Apparently, everybody keeps quiet.

There was a yearbook

from Holton-Arms where

the accuser went to school.

And there was an articlein there about her

but somehow, they'vebought up every copy of it,

it's been taken off the market.

I think Politico got a copy but

for some people,

they won't even discuss it.

I don't know what was said,

(laughs)

I haven't seen it,

but,

it is raising a great deal of suspicion

because something was going on in her life

that the editors of the Holton-Arms

yearbook wanted to put in there.

And I haven't seen it,

I don't know what it is.

But

it's amazing that theywanna cover that up.

But,

this woman

was dissembled about the factthat she didn't like to fly,

turns out she flew all over everywhere,

back and forth,

when you call Baltimore DWI,

you're not a casual traveler.

I mean, you're a regular.

I mean, you know,

would you call Baltimore DWI?

- No.

Understand there

was also a visit to Hawaii.

You can't drive there.

- You really can't drive.

Last time I heard, there's no way of driving.

- Yep.

- But she said, well, and...

Apparently, the Senate committee said,

"Well we will come allthe way out to California

"and interview you," but somehow,

that word didn't reach her or her

attorneys and

these inconsistencies

filled

this whole thing.

A lot of dissembling.

But nevertheless,

right now, the FBI's

gonna check stuff out.

Hopefully, they'll have a vote by Friday.

It could be if

Mitch McConnell wantsto move the thing along.

But right now, theSupreme Court is locked in

on a tie.

They need another

judge in there to get a majority.

They don't have one.

So it's time--

holding up the process.

Well in other news,

a major victory for President Trump.

The U.S. has negotiated a new trade deal

with Canada and Mexico

to replace what heconsidered the flawed NAFTA.

Efrem Graham has that.

- Pat, the new deal willnot be called NAFTA.

It's known as the UnitedStates Mexico Canada Agreement.

The deal will replace thenearly 25 year-old deal

between the three countries.

It was announced Sunday night.

The plan covers a range of trade topics,

including dairy imports, the possibility

of U.S. tariff on cars,

intellectual property, and much more.

Trump administration officials believe

it will make the U.S. economy stronger.

Congress will not vote onthe deal until next year

and there could be a difficultfight on Capitol Hill

before the agreement

is finally passed.

The death toll in Indonesiais now more than 840.

As rescue workers are continuing to search

for people trapped under rubble

after a tsunami struck Friday

following a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.

In addition to the hundreds dead,

thousands remain homeless.

The natural disaster hitthe central Sulawesi island

in Indonesia

and thousands of residentsare now crowding airports

hoping to get out on evacuation flights.

Indonesia's president says the government

is looking to get more food and fuel

as soon as possible.

CBN will be sending disaster relief teams

to aid the victims of the terrible

tragedy, Pat?

- And that last horrible tsunami that hit,

Operation Blessing

had a

ship loaded with supplies that landed in

Banda Aceh,

which is the center of the tsunami problem

within

hours or days of the tragedy.

And we were on the scene andwe wanted to help people and

sure, they were Muslim, but

we were Christian, it didn't matter

because we cared for them.

Now, let's once again,

it's in that so-called Ring of Fire,

you've probably seen it and

we can maybe have a

picture of it.

There it is.

You see, all around

the Pacific plate is moving against

the North American plate and other plates

and

it's an unstable, geological area

and there's Indonesia right at the center.

It starts down in New Zealand.

And they say--

I read one article, it wasvery well-written about

what they

called the

Cascadia Region

out near Oregon.

The fact that there's a very possibility

that there's a platethere that could shift

and cause some

massive tsunami into Oregon.

I don't know if that's the case but

all the way...

We had a big one down in Chile,

we have others in Central America,

and up around the illusionsand that hole area,

the Ring of Fire.

And it's unstable and youcan see there in Acapulco,

there's Lima

and all the way down into South America.

But up around

Seattle, San Francisco,

that part of the UnitedStates is very vulnerable.

As that Pacific plate begins to shift.

So,

those tsunamis are horrible.

There's a

terrible earthquake outin the middle of the ocean

and then suddenly, these tsunami

waves begin to

roll over the countries.

Some years ago, on this program,

I was

following up Dale Hurd's

piece about

the way that the dictator of Venezuela

had taken power.

And

he had

said something about,

"Well, I think they're gonna,

"you know, try to assassinate me,

"and I made a comment, well maybe,

"they oughta go ahead and do it."

Well that

caused a furor all around the world.

Isn't that a monstrous thing to say?

And isn't that terrible?

This broadcaster calls on

the assassination of a

duly elected president.

Well, he wasn't a duly elected,

he'd gotten his power bycoup against the military

in Venezuela.

But,

Chavez, the

then dictator is dead,

but his successor's a man named Maduro,

who apparently was a cab driver,

or a taxi driver, or something.

He has ruined the country.

It is unbelievable how one human being

could destroy

one of the wealthiestcountries in the world.

It has one of the

largest

deposits of

petroleum of any nation on the

face of the earth.

And,

now, what are we going to do about it?

United States, really

is so afraid of beingcalled the nasty yankee

that they don't wannacome in and do something

but the Organization of American States

needs to move on that.

It's a humanitarian crisis

of major proportion.

Efrem Graham has more.

- Well, Pat,

the country's massiveeconomic social problems

are taking a heavy toll on the country's

health services.

And the situation inthe country's hospitals

is heartbreaking.

Dale Hurd has the story.

- Venezuela's economic meltdown

has taken a terrible toll on the nation's

health services.

And in Venezuelan hospitals,

the situation is especially heartbreaking.

In San Cristobal Hospitalin Tachira State,

only emergency cases are being admitted.

And people have to buytheir own medicines,

bandages, and gloves.

Some patients are forcedto wait in stairwells

for treatment that is not coming.

This patient, Gloria, needsa metal pin for her leg

but she may wait up to three months.

Because of a shortage of nurses,

many patients in thehospital are being cared for

by their relatives.

Many of the medical personnel

have left the hospitalbecause they were unable

to survive on the minimumwage they were getting.

And those who are left areworking for almost nothing.

- Everything here is

so sad.

I can

not help them because

they need help,

there is nobody here.

- [Dale] The hospital is almost bankrupt

by the worsening economicsituation in Venezuela

and parts have had to be boarded up

due to lack of supplies.

This seven year-oldpatient has a brain tumor.

There is no cancer treatmentavailable in the country

and she is cared for herby her mother who says,

"Because she's my daughter,

"I have to support her and doeverything I can to help her.

"We've been here for two months."

This boy needs antibiotics

for a serious bowel problem

but they simply aren't available.

His father describes the situation

as a nightmare.

Dale Hurd, CBN News.

- Heartbreaking, indeed.

Japan's space agency is releasingunusual photos from space

from the surface of an asteroid.

The photos from two

jumping robotic roversshow the rocky surface

of the asteroid

about 170 million miles away.

It took more than three years

for the probe to reach thevicinity of the asteroid.

A little over a week ago,it dropped a small capsule

with two rovers onto its surface.

The rovers don't have any wheels,

they jump around.

Later on, the main probe will land

on the asteroid,

collect a sample, and thenbring it back to Earth.

That should happen late

in the year

2020, Pat?

- Thank you very much.

You know,

there is more junk out in space,

there are all kinds ofrocks going around there.

There really are.

And,

the Lord in his graciousnesshas kept us safe.

And fortunately, there'sa great big planet

in this solar system named Jupiter

that can suck some of these things

into its orbit

'cause it has a much more powerful

magnetic field than Earth does.

But,

were it not for that,

we are vulnerable.

And,

I wrote a book called The End of The Age

and it seemed like to me

the thing that'll fulfill the prophecies

that Jesus Christ

made in the Bible,

when he says,

accept those days would be shortened,

there'll be nobody aliveon the face of the Earth.

I think

an asteroid hit--

they call 'em extincters.

Mine was

six tenths of a mile, one kilometer in diameter

and the amount of damagewas just extraordinary

because I figured out

and got the

dimensions of this thing and the power,

they are extraordinarily damaging.

And if a big one hits,

life as we know it onEarth won't exist anymore.

So,

if you ever

realize that we're

dependent on the Lord everyday we walk the face of this

glorious Earth that's here.

And I think it's time to always praise God

and recognize that

were it not

for the grace of God,

we'd be

blown up like some of these others

stars up in the line.

But thank God that he'sprotected this Earth so far.

But these asteroids are out there

and we just...

Right now, we haven'tgotten the technology

that's needed and

they're experimenting

but there's not enoughmoney being spent to

figure out what to do butI wish they'd work on it

because that's a veryserious thing facing us.

Now, it's 57 years old.

Its birthday.

- Something else to praiseGod and be thankful for.

We are celebrating those57 years of broadcasting

and the evolution of CBN News.

We're gonna take you back to the beginning

and show you how CBN News

earned the trusted namethat it holds today.

It's all coming up

right after this.

Stay with us.

(upbeat news music)

(upbeat theme music)

- Well it's happy birthday,happy anniversary.

Woo, we look back

57 years.

Well earlier, we toldyou about the exciting

new development for CBN News.

But before we

tell you more about that,

we want to show you how wegot to where we are today.

In the 1900s,

1940s, 50s, we realized

we needed to begin broadcasting news

from a Christian perspective.

Here's John Jessup with the story

of how CBN News began.

- [News Announcer] CBN.

The Christian Broadcasting Network.

- [John] Not long afterits first broadcast,

The 700 Club became the go-to source

for Christians

looking for inspiration

and information.

- When Jesus is going to come back

and rescue that word.

- [John] And by the 1970s,

with America in a moral crisis,

Pat Robertson sat down with then

Georgia governor Jimmy Carter.

Their discussion

centered around a topic rarely discussed

amongst news makers of the day

in interview about faith.

- Yeah, I think the Biblesays pray without ceasing.

- [John] At that moment,

CBN News was born.

And over the next few years,

Christians around the country

began letting their voices be heard.

- I, Ronald Reagan...

- [John] Leading to RonaldReagan's 1980 election.

CBN established a Washington bureau

and correspondent Forrest Boyd was there

when a would-be assassin

tried to kill the president.

- [Forrest] Reagan was making his way

through the Florida Avenueexit of the building

when a series of shots rang out.

- [John] Viewers prayed with The 700 Club

for the president's recovery.

Reagan did,

served out two full termsas Commander in Chief,

and later thanked Pat

for keeping the faith.

- This is a nation under God.

And as long as we recognize that,

I think you'll help us.

- There's no question about it.

- [John] A news divisionformally began in 1982.

And outside of America,

the world was changing.

Radical Muslims were saber-rattlingacross the Middle East.

In Lebanon,

CBN became the first independent source

of television news in the region.

Farther down south,

CBN opened an office inside Jerusalem

to cover the latest news in Israel.

- And no one in this ancient land

is willing to predict

what the next two decades will achieve.

- [John] As the MiddleEast was heating up,

the Cold War was winding down.

The Soviet Union collapsed

as did communism across Europe.

Pat and Billy Graham visiteda newly unified Germany

after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

- Your vision

of what you're goingto do in eastern Europe

is one of the most thrillingthings that I've heard.

- [John] In Russia,

the government opened its borders.

For the first time,

Soviet Jews were allowedto leave for Israel.

One million embarkedon a journey of Ali ab.

And CBN News noted

its Biblical significance.

- [News Reporter] Perhaps, only a few are aware

that they could befulfilling Bible prophecy.

- [John] Back in the U.S...

- I did not

have

sexual relations

with that woman.

- [John] CBN covered the first impeachment

of an American president

in 130 years.

And outside of politics,

CBN News's Drew Parkhill

was one of the first people to demonstrate

a new technology on national TV called

the internet.

- [Drew] Just astelevision surpassed radio,

this will take the place of television.

- [John] The Information Age

ushered in a millenniafilled with promise.

Although the big news atthe start of the century

centered around

hanging chads in Florida.

And then,

on one September morning,

CBN news anchor, Lee Webb

was on the air for the biggest story yet.

- A passenger jet

has apparently crashedinto the World Trade Center

in downtown New York at about

the 80th floor.

- [John] After the 9/11 terror attacks,

people across Americawere looking for answers.

CBN was at Ground Zero

sharing stories of faith.

As President Bush sent troops into war,

reporters, like ChuckHolton and Paul Strand

followed them

into battle.

- [War Reporter] And that willprobably be our last position

to reach any target inside the city.

- [John] To keep up with breaking events,

CBN debuted Newswatch,

launched a website,

and soon, its reporters covered

every major event in the world.

From natural disasterssuch as Hurricane Katrina

to the attempts at peacein the Middle East.

- Anything but simple.

- In the digital age,

covering the news,

viewers can see David Brody

interview powerful leaders on Capitol Hill

or Efrem Graham sit down

with the biggest names in show business.

And at a time when faithin the mainstream press

is at a low,

CBN is a name that can be trusted.

Its team of reporters havetraveled around the globe

bringing back the storiesthat truly matter.

Now when news breaks,

CBN is there.

But the true heart has neverbeen for the headlines.

At least, not the ones seen anywhere else.

CBN News has given voice to the forgotten,

the persecuted,

and those standing strong in their faith.

From health reports

to the halls of Congress,

CBN News is on the scene

standing on the wallas modern day watchmen

and proclaiming the truth

from every nation

to every screen.

(intense news music)

- Boy, it's been a thrillto watch that develop.

I personally have been

out in all those places.

I've interviewed presidents,

I've interviewed prime ministers,

we've been in

places that, you know, Vietnam,

India, China, all over the world.

But we're there because

you know, the Lordwants us to be there and

I remember particularlybeing on the edge of

Afghanistan and being

a couple hundred

feet away from--

or maybe yards away from German...

I mean, from Russian attacks.

And I've been in hospitals

talking to those who have been wounded

in that battle.

I've sat down with the Mujahideen and

talked about their struggles.

It's been a,

been a wonderful time

for us.

- Well so many people, I think appreciate

the Biblical

impact and perspective in all of that.

And so without further delay,

let's take a look at the latest evolution

of CBN News.

Well coming up, a look back at the history

of the Christian Broadcasting Network

from the very beginning.

See just how far we've come

in 57 years.

(upbeat news music)

(upbeat news music)

Welcome back.

Well today, we're celebrating 57 years

of broadcasting.

And so right now,

we're gonna take you back to 1961.

At three o'clock

on a Sunday afternoon on October first,

Pat Robertson made hisfirst appearance ever

on television.

The signal was in blackand white and the picture,

halting and shaky.

There was only one camerain that ramshackle studio

and the equipment broke down twice

that afternoon.

But from that initial broadcastin Portsmouth, Virginia,

the gospel has gone to theuttermost parts of the Earth.

- [News Announcer] CBN.

The Christian Broadcasting Network.

(audio montage of reporting)

- [Reporter] When youturn on The 700 Club,

you're watching a programthat has been on the air

continuously since 1966.

It's one of the longestrunning daily programs

in television history.

- Probably seen morepeople come to the Lord

through CBN than any otherorganization in the world.

But it wasn't

me, it was God.

- [Reporter] It was anunbelievable leap of faith

for a man who didn't own a TV set

to jump into telecommunications.

- [Pat] I didn't have any money,

but a lotta faith, I suppose.

So I got an appointmentwith David Sarnoff,

who was then Chairmen of the Board of RCA

and told him that we needed some help

and that we wanted to buysome equipment from him.

Well he looked at me and he said,

"You don't sound likemuch of a buyer to me."

(Pat laughs)

- [Reporter] Undaunted by skepticism,

Pat bought the equipmenthe needed from RCA

to get the transmitter and camera working.

He switched on the transmitter,

framed up the camera,

and went on the airwith his Bible in hand.

The inaugural broadcast

of the Christian Broadcasting Network

made it to the end of the block.

And from there, it never stopped.

Over the decades, millionson every continent

have responded to Christ

as Pat speaks directly to viewers.

- Lord Jesus,

that's right, pray with me.

Lord Jesus,

you know what I've been through.

- [Reporter] Today, CBN programming

is seen in more than 100nations around the world.

Countries once completelyclosed to the gospel

are now new frontiers.

What began in Tidewater, Virginia

is spanning the globe.

All the best human strategies in the world

couldn't accomplish that feat.

- [Gordon] CBN was the first ever

to start a Christian televisionshow in their own language.

That has profoundimplications for the culture.

When you show people

what Jesus is doing today for people that

look like them, talk like them,

it's not some far off story that happened

2,000 years ago.

- I wanted to be part of God's plan

and I think that

his plan is for world evangelization

and to bring millions to the kingdom

and he's let me be part of it.

- [Reporter] In 1978,

Pat was reading out ofthe Scriptures in Isaiah.

- [Pat] Is it not to share your food

with the hungry

and to provide the poorwanderer with shelter

when you see the naked to clothe him.

- [Reporter] With that Biblical mandate,

Pat started Operation Blessing.

Early on, leaders likePresident Ronald Reagan

took notice.

- Operation Blessing.

They've given nearly twoand a half million dollars

to more than 85 hundred churches.

And this money is then matched

by the local churches.

The result has been fantastic.

- [Reporter] Now, Operation Blessing

is one of the most trustedcharities in the world.

A fleet of trucks cross the nation

providing hunger relief.

Water wells are dug on every continent,

and orphans are rescued.

If a disaster strikesanywhere in the world,

like Haiti's earthquake,

Indonesian tsunami, or Hurricane Katrina,

Operation Blessing is therewith emergency relief.

- You know, it's funny,

when you're walking with God,

you don't have necessarilyall these grandiose

dreams about

the future.

What you have is

this is

next step, next step, next step, next step

and you just follow where God is

telling you.

And you put your foot down

and the next foot and the next...

And suddenly,

here it all is.

- [Reporter] Regent University began

with 77 graduate students

in 1978.

Today, more than 10,000 scholars

are training in the major disciplines.

The American Center for Lawand Justice was established

so that when the rights ofreligious people are violated,

they have a strong advocate in the courts.

- The American Center for Law and Justice

is straightforward.

We defend liberty and freedom.

And when you defend liberty and freedom

and take it as a mandatefrom God, it's something

you do with excellence.

And what we do is defend the rights of

religious people,

to engage in free speech,to share their faith

in the United States and around the world.

- [Reporter] Dede Robertsonstands in amazement

of it all.

- I have

seen more than I ever dreamed I would see.

I have done more than I ever

dreamed I would do.

And it's just been avery exciting life and

working for the Lord

is an exciting thing to do.

Following his leading

and doing the thingsthat he wants you to do.

- [Reporter] The story of their meeting

has been told before.

But every time Dede tells it,

there is still a sparkle in her eye.

They met at Yale.

Pat was studying law andDede was getting her masters

in nursing.

Dede says from the firstmoment she met Pat,

there were sparks.

Real sparks.

And a small fire.

- Well that's kind of an exciting tale.

He came to an open house that

the student nurses had

and,

I was

trying to escape from someone else

and I said I had to workat the refreshment table

and I went down there,it was nothing I could do

so I tried to look busy

and my hair caught on fire and Pat

jumped up and put itout with his bare hands.

And somehow, the firethat he put out in my hair

moved to my heart

and it's never left.

There were some very hard times.

Especially when we were first starting out

and I had

three children.

The oldest was

three and a half and

it was just

a lot of work,

a lot of sacrifice.

- I just thank them for the example

that they set.

- And that's, I think, what

is unique about the two of them.

They both were willing

to submit themselves to God.

- So they're a beautiful,

beautiful couple together.

God definitely knew

when he put them together.

- [Reporter] Theirpassionate love for Christ,

faith in his goodness,

and belief in his creative power

are the hallmarks of the Robertson family.

- Never left my first love.

That was it.

(audience applause)

- You have been faithful for

a long time in many ways.

Never left your first love with Dede,

never left your first love with the Lord.

I mean, it's been a steady,straightforward journey

for all these years.

- Well,

Terry, throughout CBN's 57 year history,

we've had the privilege of bringing you

countless real life stories

of God's miracle working power,

like the story of Joseph Marx.

Joseph had a

already beat cancer once,

then it returned a secondtime with vengeance.

The radical surgery it required

left him in tremendous pain

and at the absolute lowest point

in his life.

- [Reporter] Joseph Marxis a retired Navy man,

husband, and father.

In 2013, he was diagnosedwith esophageal cancer

and successfully treatedwith chemo and radiation.

But when the tumorreturned two years later,

surgery was the only option.

- This was devastating to me.

It attacks your faith

in a way that I never imagined.

Now I'm gonna have togo through this surgery,

this thing could kill me now this time,

this is a more advanced cancer.

- [Reporter] The tumor was removed.

But when complications followed,

the only recourse was to implant a stent

in his esophagus

to try to heal the damage.

- From the day I left the hospital,

I had sharp pains, burning,

spasms.

If you know what a charliehorse feels like in your leg,

imagine that deep inside your chest.

And they would go on forthree to five minutes.

These muscles are beingexpanded through tearing

and the nerves are

damaged.

And it was the mostexcruciating pain in my life.

- [Reporter] Joseph was bed-ridden

and unable to eat.

- I can't even

bring myself to feed myself.

Just every two the three minutes,

I'm going into a spasm.

And I'm like, "there's nothing I can do.

"I have to get this thing out."

I will say

that I've never been indespair in my life but

this

was

probably the lowest point

of my entire life.

- [Reporter] One morning,Joseph turned on the television

and began watching The 700 Club.

- I'm desperate

and I need

I need someone

to pray for me.

I'm on my knees,

I got my hands out,

and I'm just like, "Lord,

"please, hear my cry."

And there's Pat.

He goes, "There's somebody that has like,

"tumors in the esophagus."

- You've got tumors in your esophagus.

I don't know if you've burned it

or whether it's a fungus but

they're like tumors.

- When he said that,

I started weeping.

I said, "There's

"my answer to my prayer."

God was answering.

Everything he's saying,

I mean, he's just saying this really,

it's just happening

so quick.

- Right now, God,

he will feel like a,

like a hot breath of airis just burning through

your esophagus and Godis healing you right now.

- I felt warm all over my body.

Not just right in here,

but I felt the presence ofthe Holy Spirit come upon me.

And,

after he got...

I was just weeping

and I weeping like I haven't wept,

I think, ever,

but it was joy because

it was my moment of deliverance.

And when he got done,

the pain was gone.

That was it.

No more spasms.

- [Reporter] Joseph hasbeen pain free ever since.

The stent was removed

and 10 months after surgery, there is no sign of cancer.

He's returned to his activelifestyle with a grateful heart

and a newfound peace.

- I see how God has

done some things in my heart

and that's what I've

learned is that,

that Hebrew word, that's shalom,

that sense of being not just

being peace in your life, but

it's a deepness ofunderstanding of your wellbeing.

Where your standing is with the Lord.

And I don't have cancer,

I'm feeling better, I start seeing,

I start seeing somefuture to my life again.

I mean, how much more blessed can you be?

- What a wonderful testimony.

You know, folks, we've had

well over

93 million prayer requests, I think it is.

Or maybe it's well over a hundred million.

- They come in daily.

- Yeah, I mean,

you add 'em all together over the

period we've been counting,

almost a hundred million prayer requests

and of that,

probably a quarter havebeen answers to prayers.

So we've had

millions and millions of people

who've been touched by the Lord.

And you have another one.

- I do have another one.

This is Debbie, she livesin Pueblo, Colorado.

She had devastating pain in her ribcage

and it was triggeredby everyday activities.

Things like looking over her shoulder

or being hugged too tightly.

Well recently, Debbie and herfriend were in the kitchen,

they were watching this program and Pat,

they heard you pray.

Somebody, your breast bone, it's like

something jammed into itand it hurt and broke it.

Just reach up and touch yourchest in the name of Jesus

and those bones are coming together

and you're going to be completelyhealed in Jesus's names...

Jesus's name.

Both ladies knew it was for Debbie.

She began to jump up and downwith joy over her healing.

Daily activities are once again enjoyable

and Debbie's giving all the glory to God.

- Folks,

can you believe that that

television somehow.

A lady out in--

where is it?

Arizona?

- Pueblo, Colorado.

- Pueblo, Colorado.

Debbie, I don't know Debbie, but

God knew her.

God looks down.

God's everywhere.

And what he...

We wanna do is pray for you right now

as we're having this anniversary,

we don't wanna leave you out.

So I want you to pray with us.

This can be the moment thatyou receive an answer from God.

So Terry and I are gonna joinhands together right now.

Father,

how we thank you for thesemany, many, many years

of blessing and ministry

and opportunity.

And we pray, Lord,

that somebody

will be touched by the Lord.

Somebody, I believe the name's Barbara,

you've got acid reflux and you've...

It's been such a problem.

Put your hand on your chestright now in the name of Jesus,

receive an answer.

Terry, what do you have?

- There's someone else,

you have a problem with your jaw.

It's not just TMJ, it hassomething to do with your bone

development with your teeth.

God is setting all of that in order.

And what you could not eat before,

you're gonna be able to eat right now.

The pain is gone.

Just receive it and begin to rejoice.

- There's a woman, I believe it's Mazy,

you've got a big toe

and somehow that...

The joint of the bigtoe, it's got arthritis

and your toe is all

cracked around.

Reach down and touch that toe right now.

It's gonna straighten out.

The arthritis is gonna leave

and you are going to be absolutely whole

and all that pain's gonna be gone.

- There's someone else withcurvature of the spine,

it's the primarily problematic

to you in your lower part of your back.

God's just straightening that for you.

You're gonna know that

deep aching is gone in Jesus's name.

- Now whoever you are or where you are,

let the power of God touch you.

Lord, how we thank you

for 57 years of broadcasting.

Thank you for the millionswho've come to the Lord.

Thank you for the millionswho've been healed.

Thank you for you anointing.

We thank you, Lord andwe give you the glory

and all the praise.

Now Lord, for those in thisaudience who are crying out

to you right now,

we lift them before you

in the name of Jesus.

Touch.

Thank you, Lord.

Amen.

And amen.

Terry.

- Welcome back.

Well today's anniversary round

of Your Questions Honest Answers come from

many of you, our Facebook friends

and we wanna thank you allfor posting your questions

and we'll be

continuing to answerthem throughout the week.

But let's get started today.

Pat, this is Sandra who says,

"Congratulations on your 57th anniversary!

"My question is: Pat, whatare you most grateful for

in life?"

- I have to say the factthat Jesus Christ saved me.

You know, I,

you know, was

like the song said, I was lost in sin,

but Jesus took me in and

I, you know,

without God and withoutChrist in the world

but he saved me and gave me hope and joy

and then he's added somany things afterward

I have a hard time saying.

I mean, a wife, I've got 14 grandchildren,

four children and 14 grandchildren.

Now,

13 and a half great grandchildren.

(Terry laughs)

And you know,

what more can you say?

I mean, I'm

grateful for so manythings but the biggest one

is Jesus himself.

- This is Tessy who says,

"Pat, over these 57 years,

"have there been challengesthat made you want to

"quit the work?

"What is your driving force to continue

"doing the work of the Lord?"

- As I said before,

I go day to day.

There was a time,

one time,

when things was so bad

and it looked like thatGod had forsaken me

and I was alone and I,

I was,

you know, this ministry Ithought I was starting out

on faith, I was gonna live

by faith and I was gonna trust the Lord,

and all of a sudden, it looked like

he had abandoned me.

And that was a moment that I,

I'm ashamed of

that I ever, ever, ever questioned God.

Beyond that, I go day to day to day to day

and I seek the Lord and I

what do you want me to do next?

I used to pray,

"Make me part of your plan."

Now, I pray, you know,

"Reveal yourself to me,"

and day by day by day he does.

And that's the way I live, day by day,

and I just see hisblessing day by day by day

and that's what it amounts to.

But as I said once before,

I don't have some grandiose vision.

(laughs)

You know, really,

it's kind of like, alright, Lord,

it's a big world, how doyou want us to take it?

And I believe for anything.

I mean, the Lord is so good.

I believe for anything.

- So maybe you've alreadyanswered this question

from Bowen who says,

"What are some of thethings that you pray for

"off the air and in your nightly prayers?"

- The thing I'm praying about

more than anything is Lord,

reveal yourself to me.

Give me your wisdom.

I ask for three things.

Wisdom, favor, and anointing and

they were my lifetimeprayer requests and I'm

still praying.

That's the thing.

Reveal yourself.

Let me know you.

I mean, he's so big.

The universe is so enormous.

And we live in this little teeny planet

in the middle of thislittle teeny solar system

in the middle of this teeny galaxy

and you know, we're so insignificant.

And I just say, "God, show methe greatness of yourself."

- Yeah.

This is Virginia who says,

"Congratulations on 57 years!

Are you glad you ran forpresident, or do you regret it?"

- You know,

when I got through that thing,

it was like I was recoveringfrom a major disease.

I mean, I was so ill.

And so tired.

And so beat up.

And I made a lotta mistakes in that, but

in retrospect, I'm glad Idid because what that did,

that activated the Christiansall across the country,

got them into politics,

they're people.

The Vice President of theUnited States told me,

he said,

"When I was a young Christian,

"I was reading your book,Shout it From the Housetops,"

and it sorta changed his life.

And there are many manypeople in politics,

and I think the fact that we're seeing

a new Supreme Court, we'reseeing a new Congress,

we're seeing all kinds of initiatives,

and I do think that that run that I had

laid the foundation formany of the things that

came subsequent of that.

- Yeah.

Well over the years,

here at CBN,

they have made incredible memories

on The 700 Club.

We'd like to share someof them with you now

as we celebrate so hang on to your seat,

we're gonna take a wild ride back in time.

(light music)

(indistinct singing)

- Would you please...

Is that true?

You have...

You're in that kinda condition.

- It is true.

- Let me throw one.

- Go ahead, go at it.

How is it now?

- 75.

- Oh seventy--

so, you get yourself ready like this

and then you let it go, huh?

Oh!

- [Orel] Oh, that wasa lot harder than mine.

- Somehow, we got 99 on that one.

- You danced

Solid Gold?

Were you one of those

dancers that, you hadsome pretty slick moves,

as I recall that show.

- Yeah, extremely slick.

And not very much costume, huh?

(laughs)

- Both of the above.

You had to say that, right?

'Cause I wasn't going to say that.

- I love what you did with the boxing.

- Yeah.

- You got in the ring.

I mean, with Slick Evans, right?

- Yeah, Slick Evans.

And he used to beat theliving daylights out of me.
