Let's go for it!
Let's bring it on, OK.
Yeah, let's bring it on.
OK, this is Dee, who
says, "If a relative
does not behave civilly
and is rude and demanding
at family gatherings,
is it unforgiving
not to include them at
future holiday events?
When confronted, they deny
they did anything wrong.
Would it be better to,
quote, "turn the other cheek"
and put up with this behavior?"
No.
You know, if the guy's
got a pet skunk--
[LAUGHTER]
--and he wants to bring
the skunk to your party,
you say no.
Really.
That's an interesting analogy.
PAT ROBERTSON: It is.
Yes.
PAT ROBERTSON: But you don't
have to put up with that mess.
You just say, look, when
you behave yourself,
we'll invite you
back, but right now,
it's not that we don't love you,
but you can't-- I'm just not
going to have you in
the middle of my party.
Sometimes making a
decision like that
lets them know you
really mean it.
Yeah.
OK.
OK.
This is a viewer who
says, "My husband believes
he doesn't need to have
a regular job, that God
will provide for us because
he is now a preacher.
He used to have a good
business, which he gave up
to go into his ministry.
He waits for God to open
doors for him to preach,
but those opportunities
are not very often.
He hasn't been to
Bible school, since he
says the disciples didn't,
that the Holy Spirit is enough.
I'm worried we will end
up on the streets soon.
He mocks me for
my lack of faith,
but I feel unloved
because he has no income,
and I'm worried that he's
lost his way spiritually.
What advice would you
suggest to him and/or me?
How long are we to wait?"
Look, he's turning into what
I would call a gospel bum.
He is misled.
He is confused.
He thinks he's being
listened to from the Lord.
He hasn't been.
He is in a state of delusion.
Now, what could you do?
I recommend you get one
or more mature pastors who
you have confidence
in and know the Lord
to meet with your husband.
So you've got to talk to him.
And sometimes they've got to
be shaped up, but you know,
this is utterly ridiculous.
He's going to put you
in the poor house.
You're going to wind
up on the streets.
You're going to lose your house.
You're going to
lose your lifestyle
and wind up on the dole.
This isn't honoring
to God at all.
Yeah.
Even Paul made tents.
Oh, sure he did.
Absolutely he made tents.
He was active all the time.
And he wasn't-- he said, I'm--
nobody's going to take my boast
away from me that I haven't
asked anybody for anything.
I live-- I worked.
So your husband has a skill.
He's a professional businessman.
He knows what to do,
and he needs to do it.
But I'm just not sure God
called him to do anything
except what he was doing
before, and he's missed God.
So he needs mature discussion
with people who know better,
and maybe he'll listen
to them, maybe he won't.
All right.
This is John, Pat, who says,
"I have been saved and baptized
according to what is required.
I was told my name is to be in
the Book of Life by my church.
They told me it's not in there.
What do I do?"
Your church is a
cult. I recommend
you ought to get out of it.
There's no such thing in
the Bible about your--
a church would know whether
your name's in the Book of Life.
They have no way
of knowing that.
What-- the thing, you
said you have been saved,
you've given your
heart to Jesus.
Go get a fellowship where they
love you and they love the Word
and they're not--
This is a cult.
You're talking about
a cult. Get out of it.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yeah.
This is Diana, who says,
"In Genesis 12:3, God says,
'I will bless those
who bless you,
and whoever curses
you I will curse,
and all peoples on earth will
be blessed through you.' If
we're under the New Testament
now, and God loves everyone,
how would he also
curse someone?"
PAT ROBERTSON: Look,
there's a curse
upon all the people on
the earth right now.
They broke with the
covenant with God.
But God's promise is
to Abraham, and what
you're quoting is a
promise made to Abraham
and to his descendants,
and that has
to do with the Jewish people.
So that's what
he's talking about.
And I think you've just--
it's Old Testament.
You're too smart by half.
And I think there's too
much of this stuff going on,
people who don't understand
what the Bible talks about.
But God-- everybody, in
a sense, is under a curse
until they come to Jesus.
But anyhow.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: I think
it's confusing to people
to know, when can you apply
something Old Testament
to your life and when is it--
I think the basic thing
is the Old Testament.
You've got to remember who
the thing was written to.
It was written to
Abra-- this is a promise
that God made to Abraham
and his descendants, period.
Right.
Here's a viewer
question. "I tend
to find myself counting
how many times I sin.
I know God made me
righteous, but my mind always
goes back to what I should
have done and could have done.
I want to learn from my mistakes
and get closer to Jesus.
What should I do?"
What you should do is
keep your eyes on the Lord
and get them off of you.
You're focused on
you, what you've
done, what you haven't
done, what you did do,
what you didn't do.
This is egocentric.
I don't care what it looks like.
It's a form of pride.
And what you need to
do is get your eyes
on Jesus Christ, what he's done.
We're supposed to have our
conscience clear of dead works
to serve the living God.
So start serving him.
Well, we leave you with today's
Power Minute from Isaiah.
"No weapon formed against
you shall prosper.
This is the heritage of
the servants of the Lord."
That's all the time we've got
for our dear friend and others.
We will see you tomorrow.
Bye bye.
