Welcome, ladies and gentlemen.
They've got a hot primary
going on in Wisconsin.
And it looks like
Senator Cruz is ahead.
But there's one question
that has been turning over
in my mind, Scott Walker
is a hero of the Tea Party.
He's a hero of Republicans.
He stood against the unions--
the public unions-- and won.
He won a recall election.
He is very popular in Wisconsin.
So I ask myself, why does
Donald Trump go to Wisconsin
and attack Scott Walker?
I can't understand it.
Yeah, I don't know, either.
Well, I mean, you know, but
this is not presidential.
And you ask yourself,
how many of these gaffes
have you got to put up with?
I mean, this is going to be
the leader of the free world.
And I just have a
feeling that we're
looking at a stall in the
Donald and perhaps a contested
election--
Do you think so?
--convention, yes.
Well, people have been
speculating that for some time.
Well, may be coming
up because, you know,
the stuff that I mean-- Scott
Walker is kind of like a hero
to a number of people.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Not kind
of like, he is a hero at,
least in Wisconsin.
And you don't go to Wisconsin
and attack their hero.
It is just so counterproductive.
And then you talk about
all these other mistakes.
But that to me kind
of tipped the scale.
So we'll see what happens.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: It'll be
an interesting evening
for the news, right?
Well, you know,
I like the Donald.
I'd just say to him-- but I'm
sure his family is saying,
Donald, act presidential.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yeah.
And you don't talk about
the size of your male member,
and you don't talk about
all this other stuff.
This is not presidential.
You just aren't
acting presidential.
And you don't get
into street fights
like a little 12-year-old.
Yeah, I think people long for
presidential and effective.
The combination of the
two would be wonderful.
Ronald Reagan was
very presidential.
Absolutely.
But he took on
the unions, he took
on this, he took on the other.
And he had a vision for America.
And that's what we
want, we want a vision
for the greatness of America.
So please, please.
Well, on the Democratic
side, Bernie Sanders
isn't giving up on his battle
against Hillary Clinton.
The socialist senator
has a slight lead
in the polls in Wisconsin.
Caitlin Burke has the story.
CAITLIN BURKE: Donald
Trump's front-runner status
could be in jeopardy.
The latest polls in Wisconsin
show Senator Ted Cruz
ahead by 5 to 10 points.
Your vote is going to be
very important tomorrow.
Because the world is
watching Wisconsin,
the world is watching.
A win for Cruz in Wisconsin
could make it harder for Trump
to win the Republican nomination
outright before the primaries
and in June, increasing the
likelihood of a contested
convention.
I think the energy,
the enthusiasm,
and the momentum we're seeing
is a result of the fact
that the people of this state--
the people of the country--
are looking for real
positive solutions.
Not simply someone to
yell and scream and curse.
CAITLIN BURKE: Meanwhile,
Hillary Clinton,
the Democratic front-runner,
isn't leading in Wisconsin,
either.
Senator Bernie Sanders
currently ahead by four
points according to the latest
Marquette University poll.
We have won six out of the last
seven caucuses and primaries.
CAITLIN BURKE: A loss
for Clinton in Wisconsin
wouldn't likely cost
her the nomination,
but it would help Sanders
keep up his momentum.
Clinton held rallies in
her home state of New York
talking about her delegate
lead and vowing to increase
minimum wage nationally.
This is something
else that Americans
deserve across our country.
And I again will
probably take what's
happened here in New York
and go to Washington.
CAITLIN BURKE: Both
Clinton and Trump
face tough road
blocks in Wisconsin
on the path to the
nominations of their parties.
And ahead of today's
voting, it doesn't
look like either one of them
win in the Badger State.
Caitlin Burke, CBN News.
Thanks, Caitlin.
Well, we'll watch it.
Interesting-- you know, they
had Joe McCarthy from Wisconsin.
They have had Proxmire
from Wisconsin.
They've had all kinds of people.
They had La Follette
from Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is an
interesting state.
They have a little
of everything there.
And they say that they've
got Midwest friendly.
They're very friendly people.
And they talk about cheese
heads and all the rest of it.
They're strongly opinionated.
I mean, they'll be very
strongly opinionated.
It'll be very interesting to
see how the chips fall tonight.
This is the most educated
electorate that any of them
have gone into.
Because they have been
schooled in all of these
recall elections and
all the other things.
And Scott Ross-- I mean Scott--
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Walker.
--Walker is a super guy.
And he's been on this show.
And he's just been
a fabulous governor.
And he's about as courageous
as any politician,
or he's not a politician, any
public figure in the United
States of America.
And courage is important.
And another Wisconsinite
that is looked
upon as a potential standard
bearer of the Republican Party,
it's very interesting.
Well, speaking of that standard
bearer, Paul Ryan, the Speaker
of the House, is in Israel
to reassure the Jewish nation
that the United States
is standing behind it.
John Jessup has that story.
Thanks, Pat.
Speaker Ryan met with Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
to discuss the rise of Islamic
terrorism in the Middle East.
According to the
"Jerusalem Post,"
Ryan said he came to
Israel to show his support
and see how the two allies
could better cooperate
to win this radical
war against-- this war
against radical
Islamic terrorism.
Ryan emphasized the politically
incorrect radical Islam
that's in sharp contrast
to President Obama who
has consistently
avoided that reference.
Ryan also met with his
Israeli counterpart,
the Speaker of the Knesset.
You can rest assured of that.
Speaker Ryan made the trip
with a bipartisan congressional
delegation.
Islamic militants murdered a
Christian man in Bangladesh,
ambushing him while he
was on a morning walk.
Open Doors USA
reports Hussein Ali
was a former Muslim
who had converted
to Christianity in 1999.
He suffered persecution
for many years,
since Muslims are not allowed
to leave their religion.
Two weeks ago the
65-year-old was
attacked by three people
who threw a firebomb at him
before hacking him to
death with sharp weapons.
Open Doors reports
fellow Christians
there are concerned they
could face an escalation
and persecution from
Islamic extremists.
Well, here at home,
Mississippi's religious freedom
bill is now in the hands
of Republican Governor Phil
Bryant.
The State House and Senate
approved it last week.
Critics say the bill
would discriminate
against the LGBT community.
But supporters say it
protects religious freedom.
The measure would also
allow schools and businesses
to set gender-specific rules
about how a person dresses
or which bathrooms
each gender must use.
It also protects people
from having to take part
in same-sex weddings.
Some businesses oppose the bill.
Mississippi is one of 10 states
to pass, or consider passing,
legislation to protect religious
freedom after the Supreme
Court legalized gay
marriage last summer.
Pat?
You know, if the court
would stay out of our life.
They have inserted
themselves into things
that they have no business
getting involved in.
Roe versus Wade is an example.
That should have been
left to the states.
Instead of that, they
federalized abortion.
They've now federalized
homosexuality.
And they're probably
going to federalize
the use of various bathrooms.
That is beneath the dignity
of the Supreme Court,
and it's not something that
should be a federal matter.
We have 50 states,
and the states
should be able to
speak on these matters.
And I think it's time we get
to what the Constitution says.
And how we miss
Antonin Scalia who
was an originalist, a
constitutional scholar.
And certainly we
shouldn't be stampeded
into appointing
somebody who is not one,
and putting him on
the court to make
a fight for liberal majority.
That would be a tragedy.
John?
Pat, the calendar
may say spring,
but winter weather
has been hitting
the Northeast pretty hard.
Emergency crews responded
to multiple crashes
in upstate New York.
Winter weather advisories
issued from Buffalo
to Albania in the
Empire State, where
forecasters call for
up to 10 inches of snow
at some higher elevations.
And up to eight inches
forecast for Boston,
and other parts
of Massachusetts,
and Rhode Island.
Cold temperatures
are moving too,
in some places
they could fall so
low they'll break records that
are more than a century old.
Pat?
Oh, I came to work,
and I'm not sure
that I'm breaking any record,
but it sure was cold outside
for this time of year.
Although, I remember
being in New York--
I think on the 15th of April--
when I lived in New York.
And we had a huge snowstorm.
I mean, it was just a mushy,
sticky, snow storm that
just clogged up everything.
So snow in April is not
unheard of but man, it's
cold out there.
John?
Pat, it's already
being called one
of the greatest NCAA basketball
championship games ever.
Villanova and North
Carolina fought right down
to the last second when
Villanova hit a three pointer,
as time ran out, to win
their second ever title.
CBN Sports reporter
Shawn Brown brings us
the story from Houston.
Hello, and welcome
back to NRG Stadium
here in Houston for CBN's
coverage of the 2016 men's
final four, where
Villanova out beat
North Carolina for their second
NCAA national championship
in the school's history.
And what a shootout it was.
I mean, I'm talking
bang, bang, and holster.
We'll go down to the lockers
for some player reaction,
but first let's see how
the Wildcats made history.
The game started
to heat up early
on both ends of the court.
Here's Villanova's
Josh Hart for three.
Then this dunk by North
Carolina's Brice Johnson.
Then with 8:47 left in the half,
Marcus Paige drains this three.
Followed by Joel
Berry II with another.
Tarheels enter the
half up by five.
Second half.
And here's where
things really heat up.
The Tarheels start off
strong with this dunk
by Brice Johnson.
But Nova answers with this
dunk by Mikal Bridges.
The Wildcats begin
to turn up the heat.
With 9:53 left, Ryan
Arcidiacono drives for two,
then does it again
shortly after.
Nova up by 7.
Later in the half, it's
Marcus Paige for three
closing the gap.
But Nova's Kris Jenkins answers
with a three of his own.
But those two aren't done yet.
With a 1:33 left in the
game, and Nova up by six,
it's Paige again for three.
But the Wildcats keep coming.
Here's Josh Hart for
two from the line.
74, 71, Wildcats.
But with five seconds left
here comes Marcus Paige
with a contested three.
It's good.
Looks like over time.
But wait, what's this?
Arcidiacono to
Jenkins for the win.
It's good.
And the Villanova Wildcats
are national champs.
Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono
was named the final for MVP.
But it was Kris Jenkins who
was the hero after that game.
To have this opportunity to hit
the game-winning shot winning
shot from a senior who was
unselfish and gave up the ball.
That could have been the
final shot in his career.
And I'm happy it
turned out that way.
Exciting, great man,
you know, just how hard
we battled out there.
And just all the
preparation we did.
How focused we were.
Weren't coming up too
strong in the first half
and then just probably just
that attitude that came out
strong the second half.
Just [INAUDIBLE].
I just love my guys, man.
I just-- I love them to death.
We all trust each
other in so many ways.
I think it starts with the
chemistry off the court.
We trust each
other all the time.
And I think our team defense
really starts trusting itself.
For Arc to pass the ball
like that, it's nothing.
It's unbelievable.
I'm currently-- like I'm
speechless on what it really
feels like right now.
Because it just hasn't
really settled in.
Just how amazing that was.
And how great it was to get
to do it with all my brothers.
And I mean, it's just something
that somebody could never
take away from me.
Pat, what a great game.
And congratulations to Nova
for that buzzer beating win.
That's most incredible.
In basketball I
imagine the pro scouts
are salivating
when they see some
of the skill of those players.
They're just tremendous.
And they're-- it looks like
they're ready for the pros,
the ones that want to go up.
They are fabulous players.
What an exciting thing to
have the whole nation watching
in a tournament of this
magnitude, and the March
Madness, and all those other
stuff, in the final four.
Amazing.
And I would have thought North
Carolina, with its background
and history, would
have won that thing.
But Villanova says, no way.
Congratulations.
I mean, they're both champions,
and they're showing it.
