As we are nearing the celebration of America's birth and independence, I'm emailing today to thank you and tell you about the crucial ways God is using you to bless our fellow citizens.
In recent months, thousands of stunned Americans have been victims of sudden storms, deadly tornadoes, and flooding of historic proportions. In fact, we are in the deadliest U.S. tornado season in six decades. Officials estimate that there have been almost 1,000 twisters this year—double the average number—that claimed over 500 lives.
You have been on the front lines through CBN's Operation Blessing International (OBI), extending a hand to our neighbors who are reeling from these catastrophes. In hard-hit towns in Virginia, Alabama and Missouri, you've served up hot meals to families and work crews and comforted survivors, while OBI's heavy equipment removed trees and debris.
You have delivered over 90,000 pounds of food and emergency relief supplies to Joplin, Missouri, where the deadliest single tornado since 1953 killed over 125 people and left parts of the city unrecognizable. An OBI convoy has arrived on the scene with a crane, front-end loader, Mobile Command Center, and mobile kitchen.
That's just one of the many ways you are bringing God's love to America. Through OBI's Hunger Strike Force, you are also giving groceries to those on fixed incomes or struggling to feed a large family—and getting them through tough times.
Just imagine the anguish of parents who don't know how they will feed their children. In just the first few months of this year, you have helped deliver over 29.5 million pounds of food to hungry American families. What a difference CBN partners have made in their lives.
Most importantly, you are bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of Americans each week. You make it possible for The 700 Club to be broadcast to a potential audience that covers 110 million households in America.
As people look for answers in the face of the calamities that are happening all around us, you offer powerful ministry through 700 Club Interactive, CBN.com, and CBN's Prayer Center—where miracles are being reported every day!
In fact, you've made it possible to answer over 1 million calls for prayer since January. The CBN Prayer Center has also led over 14,500 people to salvation in Christ during the last five months. None of this would have happened without you!
God is also using you to bless the children of our country through Superbook®. The response to the new, reimagined series has been wonderful. And many children are discovering the fun of learning the Bible on www.Superbook.TV.
Since January, close to 7,000 kids have prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior, and over 10,700 children have downloaded the new-believer devotional, Gizmo's Bible Adventures, from this family-friendly website. All across America, kids are discovering the truth of God's Word and the influence of the Bible is changing their lives.
God is moving mightily as we share His love every day across this country. And that's why your help is urgently needed now. As God uses the circumstances in our nation to bring many people to Himself, we want to be there—pointing them to the one, true hope for all mankind.
