Witness to Terror: Tourist Describes Attack Aftermath
Mark Krikorian has advocated for years for what he describes as a "pro-immigrant, low-immigration vision" and he says the terror attack in Nice, France confirms his view.
Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, is vacationing in Nice and attended the Bastille Day fireworks celebration, leaving right before the attack.
Moments later in the safety of his apartment he says everything changed.
"There was screaming, panic outside, people knocking tables over, glass breaking, people running for their lives," Krikorian said. "It was like something out of a movie but it wasn't a movie--it was real life."
French police say a Tunisian living in France drove a large truck through the crowds celebrating Bastille Day along the famed promenade in Nice. The killing rampage ended after police killed the truck driver.
Krikorian says more people in the Western world are going to experience and have to get used to such attacks unless measures are taken to reduce immigration and bar those who oppose the U.S. Constitution from entering the country.
"What we don't do is keep out of the country people who aren't violent, who aren't raising money for terrorists but who reject our basic Constitution," he said.
Krikorian says the U.S. should prevent people with such beliefs from moving to the country or even visiting.
"If you think it's okay for the government to kill gays, to kill adulterers, to kill blasphemers, then you have no place in our society even if you're peaceful and hard-working," he said.
Critics of Krikorian charge that he's anti-immigrant and opposes immigration reform.
