Fighting in Ukraine has not stopped, despite a new peace deal and cease-fire deadline.

Ukraine's leaders say at least eight troops have been killed and 34 wounded in the last day alone.

Much of the fighting has taken place in a key transportation hub that has been hotly contested. Fourteen people were injured in fighting in the rebel stronghold of Donetsk.

This latest round in the ongoing battle between Russian-backed separatists and Ukrainian forces came after Thursday's agreement among leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France.

They agreed to a ceasefire that is set to take effect Sunday, one minute after midnight.
