This weekend 33 Texas prisoners are set become the first "pastor inmates" in the Lone Star State's history.

The men are graduates of a prison seminary program that is privately funded and taught by professors from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The program has improved prisoner morale and reduced violence against guards.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a Christian, said the program would not have been possible "without the hand of God."
