"Today" show host Savannah Guthrie is pleading for prayers as police investigate the disturbing disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Police believe the elderly woman was abducted from her home in the Tucson area of Arizona, where she lived alone. Blood was reportedly found at the scene, and a ransom note has been reported but unverified.

Authorities are racing to locate her, asking for help from anyone who might know anything about Guthrie's disappearance. Sheriff Chris Nanos said Guthrie was of sound mind, and emphasized that it's crucial for her to be found soon because she could die without her medication.

Savannah Guthrie shared about her faith this week while posting on Instagram with a desperate request:

"we believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him.
thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.
    we need you.
'He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.' a verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us.
    Bring her home."

Guthrie also issued a statement Monday, released by NBC's "Today" show.

"On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support," she said. "Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy."

Meanwhile, calls for prayer are also pouring out from friends and supporters.

Kathie Lee Gifford wrote on X, "I am devastated for my friend Savannah's beloved mother, and I'm keeping her and her family in my prayers since I heard this awful news... Please join me in bombarding heaven with your prayers, too. I cannot even imagine the pain that they are in. Only God can comfort."

And Franklin Graham wrote, "Savannah Guthrie, who America knows as one of the hosts of the NBC Today Show, is in the news because her 84-year-old mother is missing from her home in Arizona and foul play is suspected. I know she and her family would appreciate your prayers for her mother's safe return."

A candlelight prayer service for Nancy Guthrie is reportedly being held Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 6 p.m. at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, located at 4440 North Campbell Avenue in Tucson.
