She Couldn’t Pay Her Bills—Until She Tried This
Jane Williams loves dogs and has a successful business taking care of them, even though that’s not what she’d originally planned. She’d hoped to retire comfortably from 23 years in law enforcement. But bulging disks in her back and a chronic Lyme disease diagnosis left her with $30,000 in debt that she had no idea how to pay off.
“I was very worried because I'm the sole breadwinner, I live alone,” Jane said. I had to somehow pay my bills, and I was exhausting my savings account. It was depressing. It was frightening.”
Jane grew up in church and had accepted Christ as a child, however, she became distant from the Lord through the years. Stuck on her couch most days due to her poor health, she knew she needed to rekindle that relationship. She began by getting a study Bible and watching The 700 Club.
“Pat talked about tithing and giving,” Jane said. “That in conjunction with what I had read in my Bible, it just brought it all into focus and I could understand, I could see the bigger picture then. You're never going to pay your bills if you don't give God what’s His. I tried it and it made a huge difference. That first month I was less stressed about my bills. I'm not quite sure how they got paid, but they did, and I didn't have to worry about it. And then the next month it was the same thing, and it continued.”
Jane faithfully tithed 10 percent of her retirement check to her new church and gave gifts to The 700 Club. Once she completed the physical therapy for her back, she started a business – dog walking. She soon hit the streets with some new four-legged friends.
“I made a lot of money,” Jane said. “God absolutely gave me the idea and he led me through the whole process. He was faithful to me because I was faithful to him.”
With the new income, she was able to cover her bills while using her retirement check to pay down the $30,000 of medical debt. It took several years, but Jane is now completely debt free.
“I felt such a relief, it’s amazing,” Jane said.
She continues to tithe and give to The 700 Club.
“Just the different things that CBN does,” Jane said. “Operation Blessing, the surgeries for the kids with cleft palate – oh my gosh!” It changes somebody's life. It's huge! I'm so proud to be a part of that. It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.”
Now secure in her finances, Jane is grateful to God for His faithfulness and giving her the keys to success.
“I owe God everything,” Jane said. “If you give to God, He's going to give you back more than you can ever give to Him.”
