After Two Powerful Earthquakes, Clean Water Brings Relief
The 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes in Venezuela left thousands homeless and in desperate need for food, clean water, and other essentials. Betsabé’s family lived on the streets for nearly 2 weeks after their apartment was destroyed. While her husband was at work, she did her best to care for their children. Yet, bottled water was scarce, forcing them to drink contaminated tap water.
Betsabé said, “My baby got sick with parasites from the water, because I couldn't boil it where I was.”
They found a local shelter that gave them a place to sleep, medicine, and food. However, bottled water was quickly running out for the 50 residents. Betsabé and her family prayed for help.
Their prayers were answered when Operation Blessing arrived. We installed a brand-new water tank and a special filtration system that removes toxins and kills microorganisms.
Betsabé exclaimed, “The filter they gave us is absolutely wonderful! I’m so happy about it because we can now drink water without needing to boil it, without processing it, because it does all the work.”
The clean, reliable water isn’t just helping Betsabé’s family physically, it’s also encouraging them spiritually.
“A glass of water is life to me. It’s hope. And if we have hope, we have faith,” said Betsabé.
“Operation Blessing, thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart, I am grateful, and I hope you continue to help many more families who really need this. Thank you.”
