What If the Story of Nehemiah Is Exactly What We Need Today?

Author Background

Dr. Erez Soref was born and raised in Israel in a traditional Jewish family. He attended synagogue and studied the Hebrew Scriptures from first through twelfth grade, yet later described God as feeling distant—treated more as national history than living faith. After completing his service in the Israel Defense Forces, he traveled through Southeast Asia and Europe seeking spiritual meaning. While in the Netherlands he first encountered believers in Jesus (Yeshua). That encounter led him to reread the Hebrew Bible, discover Messianic prophecies he had never been taught, and eventually read the New Testament for the first time. He came to faith in Jesus as the Messiah of Israel.
Soref later earned advanced degrees in the United States, including a doctorate in psychology and theological training at Wheaton College. Upon returning to Israel he helped found a national counseling ministry and taught at the University of Haifa before joining what was then Israel College of the Bible. He served as Academic Dean and, in 2006, became President. He is married to Sisi (herself a multi-generation Israeli believer in Yeshua), and they have three children. They live in the Netanya area.

Overview of ONE FOR ISRAEL

ONE FOR ISRAEL began in 1990 as a Bible college and has grown into a multi-faceted ministry led by native-born Israelis. Its core conviction is simple: “The best way to bless Israel is with Jesus.” The ministry focuses on three main areas:

1.    Media Evangelism – Producing short-form testimony videos, teaching series, and gospel content in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. These videos have accumulated hundreds of millions of views globally, with tens of millions of views inside Israel alone, giving unprecedented exposure to the gospel among Israelis.

2.    Bible College & Leadership Training – Operating the only accredited Hebrew-speaking evangelical Bible college and seminary in the world, training Jewish and Arab believers for ministry in the land.

3.    Discipleship & Community Blessing – Equipping local congregations, providing practical aid, and fostering unity between Jewish and Arab followers of Jesus.

Core Emphasis

Soref and ONE FOR ISRAEL emphasize that the modern restoration of Israel is not only physical but increasingly spiritual. They highlight a growing number of Israelis—both Jewish and Arab—coming to faith in Yeshua, often through digital media that bypasses traditional barriers. The ministry stresses indigenous leadership (Israelis reaching Israelis), high-quality Hebrew-language content, and the importance of strong biblical training so new believers can mature and lead. Soref frequently frames current events, including recent wars and rising antisemitism, within a biblical and prophetic context while calling the global church to stand with Israel by sharing the gospel.
Why It Matters

ONE FOR ISRAEL stands at the intersection of several significant developments: the rebirth of a Hebrew-speaking body of Messiah in the land of the Bible, the use of cutting-edge media to reach a highly digital generation of Israelis, and the visible unity of Jewish and Arab believers. Under Dr. Soref’s leadership the ministry has moved from a small Bible college to a globally recognized platform that both proclaims the gospel inside Israel and helps the wider church understand Israel through Israeli eyes. In an era of intense spiritual and geopolitical pressure on the Jewish people, ONE FOR ISRAEL represents a native, Scripture-centered effort to make Yeshua known in the very place where the story began.
