A Testimony That Proves There is Nothing Too Big for God

LIVING LOVED

The book begins with the theme of “living loved,” which establishes the foundation for everything that follows. For Susie, understanding God's love isn't a sentimental Christian concept; it is foundational to spiritual health. “I’ve learned that we lose ourselves when we lose sight of God,” she says. We have to know that we are loved before we can confidently walk in the identity God has given us. She describes the world as constantly communicating messages about our worth. Culture, past experiences, relationships, failures, fears, disappointments, and our own inner dialogue can all distort the way we see ourselves. Susie's answer is to replace those messages with God's Word. To “live loved” means more than knowing intellectually that God loves us. It means allowing that truth to become the lens through which we interpret ourselves, our circumstances, our failures, and our future. This is especially important because she connects identity to spiritual warfare. Susie argues that the enemy understands the relationship between identity and faith: if he can make us question who we are, he can make us question God. Thus, spiritual warfare isn't merely about dramatic external attacks. It can involve the quieter battle taking place in our thoughts: negative self-talk, fear, shame, insecurity, hopelessness, and distorted beliefs about God's goodness.  “Following Jesus, treasuring His presence, counting on His influence, viewing your life through the lens of Scripture, obeying Him when it doesn’t suit you, trusting Him when your circumstances scream at you, refusing the Enemy’s taunts, accusations, and temptations because you trust God more than your fear – this is what it means to walk with God.”

THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

Given Susie's own long history of physical struggles – more than 30 years with Lyme disease -  this chapter is particularly meaningful.  She describes her illness as seven years of being deathly ill, and 20 years of a cycle of feeling bad about four times year, with facial numbing and inflammation, and a number of years of feeling better.  “I love feeling good, she says. “More than I can possibly express. But it’s not required to move mountains, shut down the Enemy, and walk powerfully on earth.” Today, Susie says she feels better than she has in 30 years, but still deals daily to some extent with numbing and ringing in her ears (tinnitus). “Do I still deal daily with annoying and harassing symptoms?  Yes. Do I still struggle to get a good night’s sleep?  Many nights, yes. Are there still giants in my land and a few sorrows in my heart?  Of course.  We’ve living behind enemy lines” she reminds us.  The book's larger framework distinguishes between believing God for healing and demanding a particular healing outcome. God is the healer, but trust means surrendering the timing and method to Him. That allows Susie to hold two truths together: God is able to heal, and God remains good when healing doesn't happen in the way or timeframe we desire.  She believes that kind of faith is considerably deeper than simply believing God will give us the result we want.

PURPOSE AND POWER

Susie’s husband, Kevin, had a wondrous encounter with God one very early morning.  He woke, sensed the Lord calling him to spend time with Him, and did so, settling in his prayer chair and listening to his favorite worship music.  Susie says Kevin had a father wound for as long as she could remember.  His father was a good man in many ways, but didn’t engage with his son in a way that made him feel deeply loved. Kevin was left with questions deep in his heart, such as: Am I worth pursuing? Worth investing in? Worth fighting for? Worth the time?  The Lord’s presence was palpable to Kevin that morning.  “Kev envisioned God’s fatherly hand reaching down from heaven and touching that tender spot with immense strength and compassion.  Kev held his breath,” she says.  “From that encounter, Kev emerged joyful, tender, in awe, and freshly assured of his Father’s love.”  Susie says the same can be true for every believer as we seek our Father and are honest about our hurts.  As we do, she believes we’ll find our purpose and the limitless power He has to bless and guide us. Some reminders she has for us:

•   The Enemy is terrified that you’ll finally discover and believe who you really are, because when you do, you’ll be unstoppable.

•   Your precious Father looks at you with kind, loving eyes and wants you to believe what He says about you.

•   Keep an ear bent toward heaven. Listen for His voice. You’re an absolute treasure to Him.

TAKEAWAY

Susie Larson's More Than You Can Imagine challenges Christians to reject the lies that distort their identity, embrace the truth that they are deeply loved by God, and develop a resilient trust that allows them to see, believe, and live beyond what their present circumstances seem to make possible. The heart of More Than You Can Imagine could be summarized this way: When you know that you are loved by God, you become free to trust Him. When you trust Him, you become free to obey Him. And when you obey Him, you become available for God to do through your life what you could never accomplish on your own. She says that the main message she wants readers to take from her book is summed up in Ephesians 3:20-21:

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

She also emphasizes that when we trust God, life gets better not only for us, but for all the people with whom we interact.
