A Decade of Struggle Ended with One Helping Hand
When Lina‘s son was just 6 months old, she told us her husband abandoned them. She’s been struggling to raise Revan as a single parent for the past 12 years. “I knew it would be difficult financially to raise my son alone. I kept thinking about how I could earn money to provide food for him,” she recalled with tears in her eyes.
Lina started a business selling drinks in front of her home. She told us she earned less than a dollar a day. According to her son Revan, that meant lots of missed meals. “I started to understand my mom’s situation when I was nine years old,” said Revan who sounded all grown up. Often times we only ate plain rice with a little salt.”
“I felt like a failure as a mother because I wanted to give my son better food, but I couldn’t afford it,” added Lina through her tears. “I kept asking myself, ‘How I can earn more money to provide our needs?’ I prayed ‘God, please..., help me!’”
Then, thanks to YOU, Operation Blessing gave Lina new equipment, including a display cabinet and freezer, along with more items to sell with her drinks. We also gave her training on how to run and grow the business. “I was so happy and grateful the day I received the support from Operation Blessing. I thank God because He opened a way for me to better provide for my son!”
Today, Lina said she earns three times what she made before. And that means better food for her son and the ability to pay her bills. “Compared to before, our situation is MUCH better now,” she confirmed. “I want to thank the people from Operation Blessing who helped us.
