Testing God’s Promise Changed His Life
As a new Christian, Randy Hinton was a cynic when it came to tithing. Especially when his finances were already tight. He says, “Tithing was, to me was giving my money away to somebody I don’t know and I have no clue what they are going to do with it. I thought it was a ridiculous idea based on what was coming in based on what was going out.”
Randy was never able to get ahead financially, he was frustrated, struggling to make ends meet. “There was a mouse on the wheel effect.” He says, “I have to keep running on this wheel to make it all happen, but I'm not really getting anywhere because nothing is really being saved, nothing investing in retirement and definitely not any tithing.”
Then in 2005 his daughter Hayley died after a battle with brain cancer. Randy wondered if anyone would be there to help his family in their time of need. Soon after, his question was answered. “People came charging from all directions to help. The mailbox, cards, packages, letters, checks, checks after checks and checks. And her funeral was all basically paid for by people sending donations to the funeral home.” Randy says.
Randy, overwhelmed by the love and support shown to him by churches, and strangers who paid medical bills and expenses, began studying the Bible. When he read Malachi 3, he decided to test God’s promises and began tithing every week. Randy recalls, “And that's when I said, ‘okay, I'm gonna test this’, bring your tithe into my storehouse and watch and see if I don't put a blessing on you that you can't even comprehend. You can't even handle.
Soon after, he noticed a change is his attitude - and in his finances. Randy says, “I don't have to be scared to open up my mailbox to see what's in there. I don't have to worry about where something's going to be covered at the end of the week or the end of the month. And it allows you to sleep a lot easier. And these are the things that did not happen before tithing. So yes, he did put a blessing on us that we would not believe. And it's still going on today. He made a believer out of a nonbeliever. He made a non-cynic out of a cynic.”
Over time, his finances turned around. He even paid off their mortgage and looks forward to retiring early. “Putting money away in an IRA and 401k, it's like having a giant burden lifted off of you. We have not fallen through the cracks or ran into any major problems since I started tithing.” He says.
Randy encourages others to do what he did, trust the LORD with their tithe, become a joyful giver, and see what God does. He now says, “I'm absolutely a joyful giver. I used to be very, very, very non joyful. Now, when I go in there, I'm happy to put it in there.”

From Struggle to Strides—A Dream Comes True
Ever since he was born, Shivam faced various problems because of his club feet. As he got older, the pain increased.
8-year-old Shivam said, “Even walking was a struggle for me. Every step felt like a challenge. When I tried to play or run, my feet would hurt so much.”
His father said, “He would often fall while walking. It broke my heart to see him like this.”
“Kids teased me. They called me names. It made me so angry and sad,” said Shivam. “I kept begging my dad, ‘Please do something. Please make my feet normal.’”
His Father said, “I had no money to pay for a surgery. I tried everything; thinking, searching, asking, but there was no solution.”
Then Shivam’s father heard about an Operation Blessing medical camp that had arrived near their village.
“That day changed everything,” said Shivam’s father. “They listened to my son’s story and connected us to a partner hospital. They assured us the surgery would be free of charge. I couldn’t believe it! Help had finally arrived!”
Not long after the surgery, Shivam exclaimed, “My feet are straight now, and I can run, play cricket, and laugh with my friends! No one makes fun of me anymore. I feel so happy!”
His father said, “I can’t express how grateful I am. Seeing him walk and run like other children, it’s like a dream come true.”
Shivam said, “I can do everything by myself now. I feel free, like a bird soaring in the sky, without pain or fear of falling. ‘Thank you so much’ to everyone who made this possible.”

She Left Her Financial Worries Behind
Marla McGrath has been a homecare nurse for over 50 years, and to this day, she still loves it.
“I knew always that I wanted to be a nurse. I just love to take care of people,” she exclaims.”
When her career began, Marla struggled to make ends meet and buy essentials like diapers and clothes, and she held tightly to what little she made.
She shares, “My mentality really was at that time was just making it through, working hard, pay your bills and get the groceries and maybe have a little extra to have some fun. That was it.” She contemplates, “Something was missing.”
Then Marla’s co-worker invited her to her church.
“She said, ‘You have to come and hear my husband preach.’ I said ‘Ok’, took the Lord, accepted the Lord and got born again. I was just so excited because I knew Jesus loved me in a way that nobody else has ever, ever, ever or could ever love me. And there was a purpose, you know, whatever I needed to do for his kingdom, I was going to do it.”
As Marla read the Bible and listened to her pastor preach, she realized that she needed to start trusting God in all areas of her life, including her finances.
“When he started talking about the tithing and giving, he said, ‘You're not giving just to get blessed. You're giving to bless others, but in turn God will bless you.’ So, I learned that it's God's money. All He is asking for is 10%, to give it back to Him. So, I would tithe.”
She stepped out in faith and began tithing consistently.
She exclaims, “All of a sudden God would just either give me a new job, make more money; I just have it. Or somebody would say, ‘Here's some money.’ And I didn't have to worry about my bills anymore. Everything was getting paid. I would just be getting blessed.”
Through the years, Marla has continued to tithe. Her income has increased three times over, and today, she’s an Administrator at a Nursing Home.
“The job that I presently have,” she shares, “that was God. It's because I trust God, because of tithing.”
In addition to tithing, in 2020 Marla started giving to CBN.
She says, “Look at the world now. Look, look at the turmoil. Look at things that are going on: the kindness, the gentleness. They help others, right Johnny on the spot. Some disaster came, they were right there. When I saw like the cleft palates, the surgery they did on the cleft palates for the children or just build the huts and give them like a little stone house or the pure water. I can't imagine as a mother giving my child dirty water. That crushed my heart. So, I said, ‘You know what, I'm going to trust them all the way.’ And I became a partner.”
Marla encourages others to trust God and start giving, like she does.
“He wants to see your faithfulness. And if you’re faithful to him in your little thing, like the money, okay, which you aren't ‘gonna take with you to heaven anyway, then He's ‘gonna bless you. When you give to God, God gives back. You can't afford not to,” she concludes. Step out of your comfort zone. Give your tithe, and watch what God does. Money will come from everywhere and anywhere, and you'll just be free.”
Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” and we invite you to join in blessing others with your giving to CBN! Making a Blind Boy’s Dream Come True
Olga’s son Ivan was only 6 months old when she noticed there was something wrong with his eyes. The next two years became extremely difficult for the family.
Olga tells the story. Ivan was diagnosed with cancer of the retina in both eyes. Chemo did not help. Doctors said it was necessary to remove both eyes to save his life.
With medical challenges ahead, the family decided to move to Israel from Ukraine so he would have a better future. Olga says, “I just wanted my child to see. Here in Israel they made him prosthetic eyes, and I realized the miracle of God was that Ivan is alive. He is active, he is happy. He is like an ordinary child. We go to the playground, he is in daycare, and people often can’t believe that he has no eyes.”
Olga’s husband works to support the family, and Olga stays home to take care of Ivan and his little sister. They live near the Lebanese border, and now the latest escalation due to war has made their financial situation difficult. “We were thinking about buying special furniture to accommodate for Ivan’s limitations, but because of the war, we did not know if we could afford it. My husband doesn’t make a lot of money, but we needed furniture that wouldn’t hurt Ivan if he bumped into it.”
That’s when Olga’s social worker reached out to CBN Israel for help. And thanks to you CBN Israel provided furniture, and another special request. “I noticed that when we’d go to church, Ivan would really like worship. He would hold onto the piano to feel the music. I understood that he needed to develop this gift. but we just couldn’t afford it.”
Olga happily shares, “This gift is a miracle for our family, especially for Ivan. So much emotion when he received it. I have never seen him so emotional in all his life. He was so happy that this was his piano, he hugged it so much, and it was just amazing.”
Ivan is now practicing the piano at home and continuing to learn to cope without sight in a safely furnished apartment. “The help you provided was a miracle from God. And it’s like a good seed that will grow someday. I see how Ivan loves to worship, how he dances, how he sings. He will praise God on this instrument. You’ve made my son’s dream come true. I thank God for everyone who participated in making this happen, it is priceless.”
