for 28 million more children within weeks.

- Was that bad?
You did so well.- You did.
- [Brody] Pfizer applied for emergency use
of a lower dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
for children ages five to 11 on Thursday.
Until now, only people 12and up could be vaccinated.
- It did hurt when they put itin, but after about two days
it like, the pain just like went away.
- [Brody] Eight-year-old Sebastian Prybol
received two doses duringthe Pfizer COVID trial,
celebrating with cake and a fresh bandaid.
Now the plan is to givechildren one-third the dose
it's given to people 12 and up.
Pfizer's research studiedmore than 2,000 children
under the age of 11.
Data shows childrenwith two kid-sized doses
developed antibody levelsas strong as adults.
- I'm hoping other kids get the vaccine.
If I had to get the shotagain, I would, honestly.
- [Brody] Even though the virus is known
to cause serious illnessin older populations,
COVID-19 has killed at least520 children in the US.
Pfizer's vaccine requestcomes as the Delta variant
makes it hard for manyschools to stay fully open.
Surveys found more thana quarter of classrooms
were quarantined due to possible exposure.
As for adults, PresidentBiden again, making his case
for vaccine mandates duringa trip to Illinois Thursday.
- We have to beat thisthing, so while I didn't race
to do it right away, that's why I've had to move
toward requirements thateveryone get vaccinated
where I had the authority to do that.
That wasn't my first instinct.
- [Brody] Roughly 22% of American adults
haven't got the vaccine.
In the coming weeks, morethan 100 million workers
will be subject to vaccine requirements
under Presidential order.
- The Labor Departmentis gonna shortly issue
an emergency rule to require all employees
with more than 100people, whether they work
for the federal government or not,
to ensure their workersare fully vaccinated
or face testing at least once a week.
- The president first spokeabout vaccine mandates
a month ago, but thegovernment still hasn't issued
regulations for it, leavingbusinesses in the dark.
The vaccine push comes ahead of what is
to be a busy holiday travel season.
United Airlines, thefirst airline to vaccine
99% of its staff, plans tofly 3500 flights in December
every single day.
And on the vaccine forchildren, the FDA will
publicly review Pfizer'sdata on October 26th,
then the CDC makes their final call,
and like adults, kidswould receive two shots
about a month apartwhich means they likely
