- I'm Brody Carter with CBN.
Two-thirds of American workers
being forced to get vaccinated.
Conservatives up in arms,Democrats are silent.
Joining us now is Lindsey Curnutte,
press secretary forHeritage Action for America,
dedicated to restoringconservative principles to America.
Thank you so much for giving us your time.
Give us your initial responseto what's happening here
in American politics.
- Of course.
What we see it as
is this is really a fundamental assault
on our rights that are outlinedunder the Constitution.
And after months of Joe Biden
during the campaign trail saying
that he's not going toimplement this vaccine mandate,
here he is implementingthe vaccine mandate
for hundreds of millionsof American workers.
Heritage Action sees this as really
Democrats have been sayingthat they're the party
of "My body, my choice",
but Joe Biden has effectively just told
hundreds of millions of women
what to do with their bodies
by implementing this vaccine mandate.
So this is a terribleassault on our rights,
and it's great to reallysee a lot of governors
stand up and say, "I'mstanding against this.
"I'm protecting my constituents."
- Most definitely, kindof a double-sided mirror,
so to speak, Lindsey, Iwould definitely agree here.
Let's run through some of thespecifics here for our viewers
who are just catching upwith what's happening here.
President Joe Biden pushinga boisterous move here,
multiple executive orders, how many were passed
and what are thespecifics of those orders?
- The vaccine mandate is really
what's on the top of everyone's mind.
He's saying that any companyover a hundred workers,
they have to make sure
that either their workerscan get a vaccine,
or sorry, to get a testeach week that's negative,
or go ahead and make surethat they have the vaccine
or else they face a hefty fine.
This is completely unconstitutional.
It's directing private sector workforce
to tell them what to do.
The president is completelyout of line here,
and it's something thatwe're standing against.
And we really do gotta callthis out for what it is.
It's a fundamental attackon our rights as Americans.
- Well, GOP governors arecalling this unconstitutional.
Would you agree with that
and kind of give us some big names
that are leading the charge in legal,
legal ramifications towards the president?
- Yes, definitely.
There are a number ofGOP governors right now,
notably the Georgia governor, Brian Kemp,
the Alabama governor.
There's a slew of others thatare standing up and saying,
"We're not accepting this.
"This is not the American way of life
"to demand that people get vaccines
"and demand that they do this."
So it's really great to seea lot of those governors
stand up against this, but at the end of the day,
the best way to ensurethat people get the vaccine
is to have them talk andencourage them to talk to
their doctors and family members,
not kind of have this top down mentality,
demanding that they get thevaccine, by political figures.
It's a very backwardsway to do things here.
And like I said, the best way to ensure
Americans can get the vaccine and get out
over this pandemic is to tell them
to talk with their doctors
and see if that's theright option for them.
- Lindsey, are there anytop Democrats right now
that are against this movethe president is pushing
or is this simply aConservative opposition?
- You know, I haven't really seen
a lot of Democrat voices on this subject.
I've seen mainly Conservatives
that are concerned for their rights,
but with politicians aside,
a ton, not just Republicans, are on this effort.
I mean, this is somethingthat Democrats, Republicans,
people from across theU.S. are concerned about,
on my own circles on theprivate citizen side.
But I've not yet heardreally any huge opposition
by a Democrat politician just yet.
- Is this the first executiveorder of its kind here?
I mean, requiring vaccinations
or is this somethingthat we did in the past
with polio and other serious illness?
- It's something that,of course the military,
they can make sure thatthey're vaccinated,
of course, to attend public schools,
you can ensure that theyhave certain vaccines,
but never this way of doing things,
going through this loophole in saying
"Private citizens, in order to go to work,
"you need to get your vaccine."
This is a very unheard ofthing and it's very backwards.
And like I said, unconstitutional.
- All right, so what's nextLindsey, as we move forward?
The announcement came yesterday,
we're going into the 9/11Memorial Day weekend here.
Remembering 9/11, obviously,
we're seeing some of thethings take place today
and also honoring thoselives that were lost
tomorrow, on 9/11.
But when we come back toMonday, what's gonna happen?
What's gonna shake down?
- Well already, I think we saw the RNC say
that they're going tostand up against this
and file a lawsuit against
President Biden's vaccine mandate here,
so I think we're gonnasee a lot of Conservatives
obviously continue tostand up against this.
I think larger groups,
larger companies will alsostand up against this.
And it will really come down
to how President Biden reactsthen and what he says next.
But I mean, he's alreadyflipped on us once.
He said, during the campaign trail,
he wasn't gonna implementthis vaccine mandate
and now he is.
We're not sure what we'regonna be seeing from Biden,
but I can guarantee,Conservatives across America
and people from all sidesof the political spectrum
are upset about this andwe're really gonna see
some big action on this.
- Most definitely,
talking about thatdouble-edged sword here,
if we can kind of concludethis interview on 9/11,
the victims, like we said, beinghonored today and tomorrow.
President Biden continues towork with the Taliban, right?
The same individuals who created this mess
here in American history.
Can you explain this alternatereality that we're living in
and bring any sort ofsense to this insanity?
How do you make sense of it all?
- I mean, it's hard to put words here.
It's just awful to seethe president really
honestly have more contemptfor unvaccinated Americans
than he is the Taliban at this point.
It's just off to really compare
his speeches during just yesterday
and his speeches from previous weeks,
really comparing that there,
he really shows a lot of contempt
for Americans that aren't vaccinated,
which there are still a good number
of Americans that are not.
It's unfortunate to see, butas we go into this weekend,
we'll obviously rememberthe victims of 9/11,
and with that 20-yearanniversary coming up,
it'll be a very difficult day tomorrow,
but hopefully to see President Biden
show some leadership here
and really commemoratethat day for what it is.
- Lindsey, we appreciate your sentiments.
