- Thanks for clicking on"The Super Book Show."

- We're a show that explores the good

the bad and everything in between.

- So.

- Yeah?

- Are you good or bad?

(buoyant music)

(logo whooshes)

- I'm good, of course.

- What makes you so sure?

- I pray.

I read my Bible.

I volunteer.

I help old ladies cross the street.

Well, before social distancing, of course.

- So those things make you good?

- Yeah, what else would they make me?

- It depends.

- Depends, depends on what?

- How you do them and why you do them?

- What do you mean how I do them?

- Do you do good works just to let

other people know that you're doing them?

- I mean-

- Yeah?

- I don't know.

When you volunteer, do you post it

on social media every time you do it?

- Maybe.

- When you pray, do youtry to do it publicly

so everybody knows?

- I mean, not often, but it has happened.

- In Matthew 6, Jesus breaks down

why you shouldn't do good deeds publicly.

- He does?

Okay, why?

- Because you'll lose thereward from God in heaven.

- You do? No.

- Yes, if people pat you on the back now

because they see everything you do

God says that's your reward.

- So my reward will belikes and double taps?

- You said it.

- Well, how do you getthose heavenly rewards,

those sound better, they've"Heavenly" in the name.

- Don't show off when you do good things.

- Not even a hashtag?

- Hey, it's your choice.

- Whoah.

- See, the problem is people do good

and charitable acts all the time

but-

- But what?

- What was the motivation behind it

was it from a pure heart to please God

or so that you could lookgood on the grant man.

- I never thought about it like that.

I just thought that doing goodstuff was doing good stuff.

I never thought about myheart or my motivation.

I just thought doing it was enough.

- And as you said before,on "The Super Book Show,"

"You cannot earn salvation

or work hard to make God like you."

- Yeah, you're right.

- Salvation was taken care of on the cross

and nothing could everstop God from loving us.

- I get it, and sinceGod has given us so much

and as we learn moreabout him and his love,

we should sincerely wannagive that to other people.

- That was deep, you should tweet that.

(buoyant music)

- His word is forever alive.

(log whooshes)
