Read Transcript
- Greetings in thewonderful name of Jesus.
- [Wendy] Pastor Said Deeb ofBeirut's Life Center Church
told us how a strangefeeling came over him
the day of the explosion.
- I don't know what happened to my heart
and I was feeling not at ease
and I don't know what to explain it,
I felt something is going to happen
something bad is going to happen.
- [Wendy] That uneasiness lead pastor Deeb
to send his 34 person staff home
and cancel Bible classesfor more than 200 children.
- As if the Holy Spirit'ssaying go, go, go, go, go.
So I was saying, everybody, go, go,
go home, go home, go home, pushing them,
turn off the computers, forcing them to leave.
I was forcing them andthey said, we are cooking,
we need to distribute foodfor refugees and for the poor,
I said today, cancel everything,
put it in the fridge.
So they were thinking I lost my mind
but they didn't know,
and I didn't know, this isthe Holy spirit prompting.
- [Wendy] Then, shortlyafter 6:00 PM on August 4th,
the unthinkable happened.
(loud explosion blaring)
Without warning,
a large amount of ammonium nitrate
stored at the Beirut Port exploded,
possibly ignited by a warehouse fire.
The shockwaves damaged buildings, roads,
and shattered glass for milesin the densely populated city.
When it was over morethan 200 people were dead,
upwards of 7,000 injuredand 300,000 homeless.
- And I thought this isthe end, this is the end.
But the Lord has another plan.
- [Wendy] Located only amile from the epicenter,
Pastor Deeb's 4,000 squaremeter Life Center Church
saw great damage.
- Now everything I built in 12 years
I saw it destroyed on the floor.
All the ceilings on the floor,
all the lamps, all thepaintings, all the doors,
doors without frames windows, and you know, all this glass,
all of it in glass andaluminium is horrible.
And I was really crying and crying.
- [Wendy] It also led to desperation
for the people of Beirut
as they lacked the basic necessities
of food, shelter, and water.
Although facing greatneed, Life Center Church
reached out to help asmany victims as possible.
Pastor Deeb says that's whenanother miracle took place.
He told CBN News his storyof heeding the Holy Spirit
and sending everyone home.
That interview was seen around the world
and relief started pouring in.
- Praise God, we've beenable to raise the center
back to it's normalcy and even better.
We're debt free, we don'thave any debts anymore,
and the extra funds we get
we were able to help 800 families eat,
those affected families everymonth with food parcels.
So since day one, we were giving food away
with the little money we had,
and the world kept sending, sending.
- [Wendy] But Deeb says theoverall situation in Beirut
remains desperate.
Much of the city lies in rubble, leaving many without hope.
- Everybody wants to flee the country,
they're trying to go in boats
and they buying boats actually every day.
But please pray for us to givehope to all those around us,
to strengthen them,
especially the leaders.
- [Wendy] Deeb says despite the horror
of that deadly explosion,
God is bringing somethinggood from the ashes.
- I'm seeing people
coming to Jesus like never before, never.
When you speak and a big numberof priests coming to faith,
big number of priests coming
to the baptism of the Holy Spirit,
with the signs and wonders following them.
So I think it's the time for Lebanon.
- [Wendy] Deeb says he'sgrateful people around the world
saw his story, and helpedin their time of need.
- Thank you so much, especially for you and for CBN,
and for all those who are watching us,
people from all around theworld, from all around the world,
start sending small amounts, big amounts,
and praise God for the church,
the first time I see thebody of Christ in action
to help the churches here
and to help the people who'vebeen affected by the blast.
- [Wendy] He feels Godis not done with Lebanon.
- So many promises in the Bible
and suddenly Lebanon will be transformed
into a fertile field,
and everybody will be mydisciple, says the Lord,
in Lebanon, can you imagine?
