- [Narrator] With foodfrom Operation Blessing,
Eastern Star Church hasbeen meeting people's needs
in Elizabeth City for more than 15 years.
Now there's an even greaterneed due to COVID-19.
Pastor Edward Bracket.
- A lot of people have losttheir job due to corona virus.
People who wakes up inthe mornin' wonderin',
"When am I gon' eat today?"
Or go to sleep at night wonderin',
"What's gon' happen tomorrow?"
- [Narrator] LatoyaArmstrong works two jobs
to provide for her daughter Zakia,
who's an honor roll student.
- Well, bein' a singlemom, it's very hard.
At State University, Iused to work like four days
outta a week, now I only work two.
When I got cut, I didcry, because I didn't know
what to do.
- [Narrator] Right now,these food distributions
are helping the Armstrongs,and many other families
fill the gap.
To keep everyone safe,volunteers place groceries
directly into people's cars.
As both a volunteer, and a recipient,
Koza knows what it's liketo both give and receive.
- It's money that I don'thave to spend on food.
God has blessed me tremendously.
I help pack the food, I'lltake the food to the cars,
because I know thatwhat they're doin' here
is impacting so many lives.
So, I wanna be a blessing to others,
and that's why I come here.
- There's times we have like150 families come through here
within the hour or twohours that we serve.

- It makes me feel happythere is people out here
that wants to help us.
We needed help and we finally got it.
- The Lord, He gives me what Ineed when I need it the most.
