- Well, it's time for someof your email questions.
And Pat, this first onecomes from Jen, who says,
"Pat, I'm in desperate need ofa miracle healing in my body.
"Is it wrong to ask God forhealing around the holidays
"when we're supposed to be thanking him
"for sending his only son?"
- I think we're supposed to ask God
to come into his presencewith thanksgiving
and into his courts with praise.
And anytime, day or night, listen,
the doctors don't closedown close to the holidays.
If you've got a cut oryou had a tragic accident,
all day long, you look for healing.
And there's absolutelynothing wrong to ask God
to do you a miracle, all right.
- Pat, this is Michelle, who says,
"Pat, the holidays are especially hard
"on the parents of prodigals.
"Do you have any adviceor encouragement for us
"during this season?"
- By prodigal, do you meanthey've gone far away from home?
Is that what you're saying?
I tell you what, keepthe home fires burning.
Keep the light on in the window.
Let the prodigal know thathe or she is always welcome,
and you love them.
And I think that's what youshould do in the meantime.
Get on with your life.
Don't let your life be torn apart
just because of some wayward kid.
You can't do that.
They've got their lives to live,
and, as parents, you'vegot your life to live.
So you live together, andyou're husband and wife,
or wife and husband, whichever.
You can love each other.
Remember, you were therebefore there were any children.
So just remember you are the start of it.
And if the prodigal goes astray,
the father ran to theprodigal when he came home,
and he had a feast forhim, but at the same time,
he still grieves the prodigal was gone.
So you can grieve, butget on with your life.
- This is Wendy, who says,
"Do you have anyrecommendations for parents
"who can't afford to spend much
"this Thanksgiving and Christmas?"
- My recommendation is, don't do it.
I'll tell you, I dislike with intensity
the hype that surrounds Christmas.
It starts before Halloween, for heaven sakes,
and they're selling stuff, selling stuff,
selling stuff, selling stuff.
It is so commercialized.
So don't do it.
Tell your kids or tell whatever,
"We don't have any money.
"We're not gonna give you anything."
And what I've told peopleis, don't give me anything.
Give the money to the poor.
I don't need anything.
Give it to poor people.
And so that's what you do this time.
Don't spend money.
Give the money to thosewho are hurting, period.
