- [Gordon] A single car accident.

- [Anne] Heather's been in a car wreck

and it don't look good.

- [Gordon] And a call toprayer over the airways.

- We just prayed that God

would work a mighty work in Heather.

- [Gordon] See how she survived.

- Somehow I knew shewas gonna be all right.

- Plus, alive one moment,

in the room of death the next.

Pastor Glen Berteau shareshis miraculous story.

All on today's "700 Club Interactive."

Welcome to the show.

Heather Hughes' injurieswere severe and extensive.

Her lungs had collapsed, every one of her ribs

had been broken,

and she had two fracturesin her neck as well.

- Heather had damage to internal organs,

just a bout, a severe bout of hypothermia,

low blood pressure thatwas falling, and fast.

Well the list goes on and on.

It's not wonder that the doctors

gave her little chance of survival.

But there's one thingthat they didn't factor

into their diagnosis.

Heather also had a praying mother.

(sirens blaring)

- [Female Narrator] First responders

arrive at a single car accident

in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi.

A jeep had run off the road

and flipped several times,

throwing three occupants from the vehicle.

Two were confirmed dead.

One, 26-year-old, Heather Hughes,

showed barely any signs of life.

- They were not verysure that she was alive,

and then as I got to her I realized

that she did have a pulse,

and we were able to work on her.

- [Female Narrator] Paramedic Stewart Byrd

and crew rushed her to a local hospital.

Someone there who knew the family

called Heather's mom, Anne, with the news.

- She said Anne, Heather'sbeen in a car wreck

and it don't look good.

I immediately started praying,

and said "God, you can't let her die."

- [Female Narrator] Later, she and her husband, Gene,

arrived to find medical staff

still fighting to save their daughter.

- When I walked throughthe emergency room doors

and she was on that stretcher,

and they were working on her,

and the bone was sticking out here,

she was real bloody.

They had a tube down her mouth

and into her throat.

And she was just

bad.

- [Female Narrator] Heathersuffered numerous fractures,

a broken neck, and was bleeding internally

from her liver and lungs,

needing advanced care,

she was put in a medically induced coma

and Medevac to a level two trauma center

in Tupelo, Mississippi.

- I kissed her on the head,

told her I loved her, hang in there.

They went ahead and got her to Tupelo,

and we came on up.

- [Female Narrator] On theway to Tupelo with Gene,

Anne called friends anda Christian radio station

asking for prayer.

- I called WFCA and heput it out on the radio.

And then people that Ihad not gotten up with

found out about it.

We just prayed that God wouldwork a mighty work in Heather.

- [Female Narrator] Heather made it

to North Mississippi Medical Center alive,

where Dr. Robert Mcauleyand his team were waiting.

There was only a 20%chance she would live.

- She had blood in her abdominal cavity.

She was bleeding from a liver laceration.

The blood we gave her wouldjust bleed right back out.

I didn't think she was going to survive.

- [Female Narrator] WhenAnne and Gene arrived

an hour later, theywent in to see Heather.

She was stabilized,

but doctors had offered little hope.

- He said "I don't thinkshe's gonna make it Gene."

And he looked at me,

and he said "Anne, where is your faith?"

- [Female Narrator]Anne found a quiet place

in the hospital to be alone and pray.

- I said "God, you gave her to me,

"and if you want her back,

"then you can have her.

"But I sure wish youwould leave her with me

"for a while longer.

"But, again, if you thinkthis is what you want,

"then give me the strengthto go through it."

And I felt such a peace come over me

that I didn't question it anymore.

It's just somehow I knew

she was gonna be all right.

- [Female Narrator] Butholding onto that faith

would be tested when Heather'svitals crashed again.

- I got a call thather pressure was 58/30,

and her oxygen saturationswere back low again,

so we're gonna lose her isprobably approaching 100%.

- [Female Narrator] Annecontinued to believe God

for a miracle.

- I would just look at 'em

and say she's gonna be fine,

and I know they really thought

I was in shock or crazy.

But I know what God had given me

when I prayed, so Iwasn't in doubt at all.

- [Female Narrator] After several hours,

Dr. Mcauley got her stabilized,

but he was still unableto offer encouragement.

- Even if we get herthrough the next 72 hours

and she stabilizes, then westill have to worry about

ARDS, shock lung and sepsisand infections developing.

- [Female Narrator] Morefamily members began to arrive

as word continued spreadingfor people to pray.

Heather remained stabilized,

and two weeks later was well enough

to be brought out of her coma.

- I had to shout and telleverybody. (laughing)

She's a fighter,

and I knew that if she couldget her sense about her

she would pull throughthis with flying colors,

which is what she did.

- [Female Narrator] Threemonths after the accident,

Heather was released.

With rest, rehab and prayer,

she began to heal,

thankful for God's miracle.

- It's surreal.

Really cool how prayer worked,

and faith, just holding onto his promise,

thanking God that I made it.

Even in this mess I've made it.

- [Female Narrator] By allaccounts Heather's recovery

is nothing short of miraculous.

- Her lungs werecollapsed, liver bleeding,

the pain in her legs,

and every rib broken, clavicle broken,

you know she couldn't,

I mean she shouldn't be alive.

That's a good miracle.

- [Female Narrator]Today Heather is married

and works as a nurse.

She says God has healed her physically,

emotionally and spiritually.

She and her family know as well as anyone

what is possible throughthe power of prayer.

- And I know he hears me,

and he's answeredmultiple, multiple prayers

since this event in my life.

And so it just makes him more real.

- I mean it's justconstant seeing God's hand

work through every bit of this.

And it's God, it's not any of us.

- The Bible says it's from faith to faith,

glory to glory that you get to have

an ongoing experience with him,

because God answers prayer.

Now we're going to pray for you.

We have some prayer requests.

Nicole asks "I have an urgentprayer request for a friend

"who is extremely sick with COVID.

"He's on a ventilator in the ICU,

"really struggling."

- [Terry] Well and then Gina asks

"please lift up my daughter

"and her baby who isundergoing an ultrasound.

"Pray for life and a miracle that her baby

"has grown and is well,

"in Jesus' name" she asks.

- Well in Heather's storythere was a question

that was asked of her mother,

"where is your faith?"

In that moment,

and there's plenty ofmoments in that story

where doubt could enter in.

Someone asked her that question,

"where is your faith?"

It's a great question,

'cause faith can havea geographic location.

So often we look forthat within ourselves,

as if somehow God wantsus to drum up faith.

Realize your faith is in him,

that's where it belongs.

It's not in what you do,

what you have done, how good you've been,

how active you are in church,

how much you read the Bible,

no, it's none of that.

Let Jesus be your faith.

Let him show up.

Let him do what he's really good at,

which is he's really good at miracles.

When you put your faith in a person,

and that person's name is Jesus,

when you put it in thatgeographic location,

my faith is in him,

he will then be the author

and finisher of your faith.

Now think on these wonderful facts.

And these aren't things that you have

to have any doubts about.

Jesus came, he actually lived on Earth.

He was born of a virgin, born in a stable.

He lived a sinless life.

And the reason he did that,

he's the lamb slain fromthe foundation of the world.

He came to show us God.

He came to show us that it was possible

to live in accordance with the rules.

And so he did that.

And the reason he didthat is for you and me,

so that his blood would be sinless.

And when he offered himselfas a sacrifice for our sin,

it would be accepted byGod for all eternity,

for the sins of everyone.

And when he did that,

by his stripes we are healed.

Here's the best news,

he didn't stop there.

He didn't stop with the sacrifice.

He rose again from the dead,

and right now he's at the right hand

of the father and what is he doing?

Well he's praying for you.

Now, when you have all those facts,

put your faith in those facts,

and let God do all the rest.

Now we're going to pray.

What I want you to do

in an act of faith,

lay your hand on that area ofthe body that needs healing.

We'll pray and ask Jesus to come.

He will because he says

when two or more agree touching anything

it shall be done for them.

We'll just rest in that.

We'll rely on that.

Not anything more.

Just make it very simple.

Just like a child.

I believe daddy, he's promised,he's going to come through.

Let's pray.

Lord, we lift every need to you right now,

whether it's financial,whether it's in relationships,

whether it's in the need forphysical healing of bodies.

And Lord we come intoagreement with everyone

who is laying a hand on that area

of the body that needs healing.

We agree with them,

that by your stripes they are healed.

And we receive it rightnow into these bodies.

We speak to them.

And we say be healed now,

in the name and the anointing

and the power of Jesus Christ.

For that same power of resurrection

is in my body now.

I have asked, I have believed,

now I receive in Jesus' mighty name.

There's someone you'relaying your right hand

on your right cheek.

You've got, it's likeparalyzing nerve pain

going into your jaw and into your cheek.

And God has just touched that.

You felt that tingle.

And all that pain just left you.

And now that jaw works normal,

everything's normal, the nerve is normal.

All the pain is gone now in Jesus' name.

Terry.

- I'm just speaking toGina's daughter and her baby,

God that all things would be made well.

That your creation isperfect in every way,

that your will is perfect in every way,

that total healing, total restoration,

total growth, that therewould be everything needed

for a healthy child anda healthy pregnancy.

And we ask it in Jesus' name, Lord.

- Lord, we also ask for anyone with COVID,

anyone in a hospital, anyone in ICU right now,

in Jesus' name, be healed.

Lungs were made to breathe,

so breathe normally,

with no interferenceat all, no congestion.

Just breathe.

The breath of life fill your lungs now,

in Jesus' name.

- And someone, you have retinal damage,

not sure why.

But it's actually threateningyour vision in both eyes.

God is healing that for you.

Don't be too quick inthe decisions you make

about what to do,

wait on the Lord.

Your eyes are beinghealed, in Jesus' name.

- There's someone else,you've had problems

from laser surgery with your eyes,

and God's going to heal all of that,

take all away

all the discomfort, everything associated with it,

with the problem.

In Jesus' name, be healed.

Be set free.

Lord, we thank you.

We thank you for all that you've done,

all you are doing,

and all you're about to do.

And we rely on you.

In Jesus' name we do.

Amen and amen.

If you've been healed,

let us know.

Give us your good report.

Call us, 1-800-700-7000.

We love to pray for you.

We believe in prevailing prayer,

the prayer that gets an answer.

Doesn't ever give up,

but continues perseveringuntil the answer comes.

And we're here for you.

We wanna stand with you in prayer.

All you have to do is call us.

1-800-700-7000.

Terry.

- Well coming up,dramatic cell phone video

of a family caught in themiddle of a hurricane.

Trees crashing down outside their window,

the roof ripping apartright over their heads.

In just two hours theirhome was nearly destroyed.

How did they survive the storm

and it's aftermath?

You'll see after this.

(upbeat music)

- Well after Hurricane Michael,

Chad and Missy wereforced out of their house.

So their family of five had to live

in a small RV for nine months.

Then Chad got a callthat changed everything.

Well who was on the other line?

You're about to find out.

- [Male Narrator] Missy and Chad

live in Panama Beach, Florida,

with their three kids.

They live in a house on a concrete slab,

away from the beach.

So when Hurricane Michael came

they thought they were safe.

Then the storm hit full force.

Missy captured those terrifyingmoments on her cell phone.

- It was whistling.

The wind and the rain's coming in so fast,

it's like white, youcould hardly see anything.

And the trees starting falling

and cracking and crashing.

- And I feel like I'm theprotector of my family,

so I'm running around checking things.

Back to the game room.

Our roof was just lifting off the house.

- And so we started singing that one song,

"What A Beautiful Name It Is."

It was like this most amazing peace

just completely filled the room.

When everything slowed down,

we were able to go outside of the house,

it was a mess in just two hours' time.

- [Male Narrator] Theirhome was severely damaged

by the storm.

Forced out of their house,

they scrambled to comeup with a place to live.

- After the storm, a lotof the places on the beach

raised their prices on rent every month.

- [Male Narrator] The onlyoption the family could afford

was a small RV they found on Craigslist.

- You know, we've beennine months in this RV,

five of us living here.

It's been rough being in here.

- Tried to like hold this together

and tried to be positive.

And there were days I'd go in the house

I'd be like nothing's happening,

it looks the same as it did

after the house was striped down.

- [Male Narrator] ThenChad got an unexpected call

from Operation Blessing.

- And he's like how would you feel

if we came

and did your insulation and sheet rock?

- [Male Narrator] OperationBlessing helped Missy and Chad

save their house.

We redid their insulation,

along with the dry wall and floors.

- We are so grateful, thank you.

- [Male Narrator] Thanks to the support

of Operation Blessing donors,

Missy and Chad are gettingtheir lives back on track.

- Just going in there today,

and looking at my house,

the sheet rock going up,

it just takes your breath away.

- You can be a part

of taking people's breaths away.

When you come in witha heart of generosity

to say we see your trouble,

we see your need, how can we help?

You're a part of that whenyou join the 700 Club.

You're a part of everything we do.

How much is it?

It's just $20 a month.

That breaks out to $0.65 cents a day.

We also have 700 Club Gold,

which is $40 a month.

Thousand club is athousand dollars a year.

And that's $84 a month.

At whatever level, call us and say yes,

I want to be a part of it.

If you want to designate your giving

to our disaster relief fundwith Operation Blessing,

you can do that.

All you have to do is either write to us

at CBN Center, just putdisaster relief fund

in the memo line of the check.

Or you can go to cbn.com.

There's a place on the website,

where you can designate your giving.

Or you can just call us and say

I wanna give to the OperationBlessing Disaster Relief Fund.

Either way, now's the timeto do it, 1-800-700-7000.

Terry.

- Well up next,

a cardiac arrest endedhis life for 40 minutes.

Meet the man who cameback from what he called

the room of death.

(gentle music)

Glen Berteau is a former high school

all-American football player.

He stayed active throughout his life.

When he turned 67, he evenshowed his grandchildren

he still had it

by doing handstand pushups.

He seemed to be, by all accounts,

the picture of health,

until November 25th of last year,

when his heart suddenly stopped.

- [Male Narrator] GlenBerteau is an author

and senior pastor of the House Modesto

in Modesto, California.

He inspires his 11,000 member congregation

with passionate tell itlike it is preaching,

and his unshakeable faith.

Recently Glen faced what seemed to be

an insurmountable crisis.

He suffered a cardiac arrest

just weeks afterfinishing his latest book,

"Why Am I Not Healed When God Promised?"

Glen was clinically dead

through 40 minutes of CPR,

and spent five days in an induced coma,

hovering between life and death.

Today, Glen Berteau is very much alive,

and here to share how hewon his war with death.

He wants you to receive a miracle too.

- Glen Berteau, welcome to the show today,

it's good to have you with us.

Very good to have you with us. (laughing)

- I'm very excited to be here

to encourage people today.

- Well tell us a little bit more

about what happened on November the 25th,

just last year.

- Yeah, it was almost 11 months ago.

My wife was having a prayer meeting.

We always have a prayermeeting on Monday night.

And I usually go.

I was actually pretty tired,

and I asked her if I could stay home,

which if I would have stayed home

she would have come homefrom a prayer meeting

and found me dead, sitting in my chair.

But she talked me into going

because her prayer team was giving her

a birthday party, a pre-birthdayparty at the church.

So I drove up with her,

went into the lounge, then came back

out of the lounge to goto the birthday party

before the prayer meeting.

People were coming to thechurch for the prayer meeting.

And I went and sat in my car

right out at the backof the church and died.

Had a cardiac arrest.

Immediately they said"did you feel anything?"

Didn't feel anything,didn't know anything.

I don't even remember that day,

that's been kind ofwiped away from my mind.

But my wife was about aminute behind me, walking.

She got in the car,

and my head was back on theseat of the car like this.

And she thought I was teasing.

She thought it was joking.

She said "Glen, wake up."

And I didn't move, I wasn'tbreathing or anything.

She shook me.

Then she eventually,

she came around to theother side of the car,

and shook me, she says"Glen, I'm gonna call 911

"if you don't quit playing around."

I was dead, I was gone.

There was a cardiac arrest nurse

that actually for 20 years

has trained paramedics,

is a nurse practitioner

that normally parked in the wrong spot,

which really was the right spot

because it was two spots down

from where I was parked.

Got out of the car,

and heard my wife saying"Glen wake up, Glen wake up."

She said the Lord spoke to her,

says "go over, you can help pastor."

She came over to me,

she said I put my fingers on your neck,

feel your pulse, you hadno pulse, you were dead.

Your spirit was gone.

Everything was gone.

You were not there.

I pulled you out of the car she says,

I laid your body on the concrete.

Your feet were still in your car seat.

I started CPR.

I broke all your bones.

She goes "I'm sorry Ibroke all your chest bones,

"but I was doing all I could."

She said about five minutes

the Lord said "takeyour hands off of him."

So I lifted my hands off of you,

and she said you opened your eyes,

you threw your hands up,

and you said "oh God,"

and then you went back and you died again.

And she goes but whatthat did encourage me,

and I felt like the Lord told me

that your spirit went back in your body,

keep working, don't give up.

So she went about 10 minutes.

I was not coming back.

I was basically dead, trying to live,

not live and trying to die,

I was already dead.

The paramedics came,

and they asked her to stay

because she was an expert in this area.

They brought me back, shocked me,

did everything they could.

Put the machine that has the motor

and it bounces you offthe ground here of CPR.

And it was seven times at the church there

that I came back,

and I died seven times.

After 40 minutes, 45minutes they finally got me.

I was not getting theproper oxygen, anything.

Brought me to the emergency room

and I died the eighth timein the emergency room.

And eight means, in theBible it means resurrection,

it means new birth.

And I was left in the emergency room

just laying there because,

and I was number eight

on the kiosk where they work on patients.

One of the emergencynurses that's at our church

told me that they gave up on you.

You were too far gone.

You not only had a cardiac arrest

and your body is dead,

but you had been withoutoxygen over 45 minutes properly

and you're brain dead.

And so they didn't have any desire,

it was very negative that one

of the Christian nursesthat eventually talked to me

with everyone, theydidn't wanna work on you,

they didn't wanna work on anything

because it was just a waste of time.

So I don't know, during that time

of how I was alive,

I only know God was theone that kept me alive

during that time.

Wouldn't let my wife come back

about two hours after Iwas in the emergency room.

And then they started hooking me up

to everything there was.

They basically put me in a coma,

paralyzed my body,

put in ice, hooked up toevery machine there was,

and told my family 0% he was gonna live.

And he's brain dead,

and he won't come back.

- Glen, all of this happened to you

when you were just finishing up a book

on why people aren't healed sometimes

when they pray.

What do you say to people

who long to see a miraclein their own lives?

You've now completed the book,

added a little after your experience,

but tell me how God haschanged you through this.

- You know I think,

as I heard on the program already,

I think faith is the one thingthat we keep talking about,

of having faith.

And if you have a lack offaith it doesn't happen,

if you do have faith it does happen.

I would say that's part of it.

In my book I put 17 hindrances to healing.

There's 17 hindrances that I found

that you would never think of

that deal with healing.

I would say that we need to learn

the rest of the scriptureto see if those things

comply to my situation.

Another reason I would,

I think I came back to tell people

that your family is so important.

My family is all in the ministry.

I was not even saved for years.

Didn't get saved until I was in college.

My family was not saved,

my immediate family was,

no one was saved ever in my family,

in the history of myfamily, I'm the first one.

And my whole family that I raised up,

all of them are in the ministry.

So I had my family that prayed around me.

Your blood relatives that are your family

have the most authoritybecause they feel it the most

because you're part of them.

And that was very, very important.

God, I believe severalreasons brought me back.

Number one is what you do on 700 Club,

which I'm thrilled that youhave never let go of this,

is to pray for healing.

And pray for signs and wonders.

What happened during the time--

- Glen, I need to believe you because

we're out of time,

and I don't want people to miss out

on hearing about the title of your book,

because it's all about healing,

it's all about prayer,

it's all about the kind offaith you're talking about.

And it's called "Why Am I NotHealed When God Promised?"

It's available wherever books are sold.

Thanks so much.

I wish we had more time.

It was very encouragingto hear your story.

God is faithful.

Blessings to all of you.

Continue to pray.
