'Rally Abolitionists All Over the World': Saturday's Global Freedom Summit Aims to End Human Trafficking Read Transcript

- This Saturday, therewill be a global broadcast

and day of action with the goalof ending human trafficking.

It's called the A21 Global Freedom Summit.

And joining us now to giveus details is Bill Clark.

He's the chief advancementofficer for the event.

Welcome, Bill.

- Thanks, Mark.

Good to be here.- For those...

- Yeah, good to have you.

For those who aren't familiar with A21,

tell us what it is

and tell us about theGlobal Freedom Summit.

- Yes, A21 was founded in 2008by Nick and Christine Caine,

who run the world's largestanti-trafficking organization.

We have 18 sites wework at in 13 countries.

We work on reaching the vulnerable

to prevent them from being trafficked.

We help out work with local authorities

to rescue people intrafficking situations,

and we work to restore survivors.

Since 2008, we've actuallyhelped 1000 survivors go

from situations of beingtrafficked to fully being restored.

Yes, and then for October 17th,

we have our Global Freedom Summit

and it's our chance to rally abolitionists

all over the world.

We have participants in 70 countries

to begin creating awarenessin their community

and taking the steps necessaryto end human trafficking.

- Who exactly will be involved

and what kind of actionsteps will be taken

related to this summit specifically?

- Yeah, so our founders,Nick and Christine Caine,

will be speaking.

We'll also hear from frontlineleaders all over the world

who are actually doingthe work in the day to day

so they can share the insights from that.

We have folks who are experts on

helping people identify human trafficking,

so everyday people canknow the warning signs

and even know whathotline numbers to call.

We'll also hear from somesurvivors of human trafficking.

- And what is the ultimategoal of the summit?

- The ultimate goal isto take a step towards

reaching a tipping pointto end human trafficking.

If we were just to get1%, just 1% of the world

to stand up and be an advocate,

we would have twice as many advocates

as we have people enslaved.

So this is a first step to kind of

building that largermovement of people who say,

"This is not gonna happen in my watch."

There's 40 millionpeople in the world today

who are enslaved in human trafficking

more than any time in human history,

but what we find when weshow up in these communities

and we hold people accountable,

working with local authorities

and bringing rescue and restoration,

we see a real change and impact.

So we're just trying to buildthat large movement of people,

so we can actually move towards

the goal of ending human trafficking.

- And Bill, how can people get involved?

- In a very simple...

- Okay, hey do you mind,Bill, ending the interview

with a prayer against human trafficking?

- That'd be wonderful.

- Okay, if you mind praying, then that would be great.

- God, we know that every singleperson of that 40 million,

you know them by name.

You knit them togetherin their mother's womb.

They are precious to you.

So Lord, we pray knowing that

these folks are made in yourimage, they're precious.

That you would raise up an army of people

who would stand up tothose who are abusing them.

God, who would set them free.

And that God, we create communities

where the vulnerable are safe

because the people of God stand

and people of all differentbeliefs stand with them

and for them.

So that we ask you to move in the hearts

of people around the world toget involved in this cause.

And we pray that ultimatelyour children's children

will live in a world, where there is no slavery.

We pray this in your name, amen.

- Amen, all right.

Bill Clark with the A21Global Freedom Summit

taking place this Saturday.

Thank you for your time, Bill.

- Thank you so much.
