- And welcome to Studio Five.
An incredible visualartist is with us today,
worship leader,
and first time recordingartist, Hope Darst,
is also here.
And we're getting an extended preview
of the epic and intimatedocumentary, 'Time'.
And speaking of time,
it's time to begin this week's countdown
with the five big stories
in the world of uplifting entertainment.
- [Announcer] At number five,
(catchy music)
a busy season for Kathie Lee Gifford,
whose new film, 'Then Came You'
hits theaters for one night
at the end of this month,
before beginning to stream.
It's a story Kathy's written
and she fills the leading role.
- [Kathy] My characterAnnabel ends up here
and meets Craig Ferguson's character.
- [Craig] My character is a gentleman
by the name of Howard Odd
who has fallen upon hard financial times
and his large countryhouse is now being used
as an inn, high jinks ensued.
Let me just say that.
- [Kathy] This is a romantic comedy
for people who have given up hope
that anything will ever happen
for them again in their life.
- [Announcer] At numberfour, (suspenseful sound)
(calm background music) and in real life,
Kathie Lee's family is growing.
She shares on Instagram a photo
from her son's weekend wedding.
Writing,
God gave us a glorious day
to celebrate this glorious couple.
So grateful.
♪ And let you love me to death. ♪
- And number three in the countdown
is coming up in just a little bit.
Right now we wanna turn to Anthony Reed
the second, he's actually better known
in the art community as Mojo.
But he is not just an artist.
He's an activist who makes time
to mentor many young artists
who are following in his footsteps
and his work speaksvolumes in size and message
- Painting is like kind of forcing me
to get out of my comfortzone a little bit.
And that is why to transition
like how my career change all that
because I literally pick up the paper.
- Let's start with the name
because your name isAnthony Reed the second,
but the art world and yourfans know you as Mojo.
Where did Mojo come from?
- (laughing) It's funny
because that nickname came in college.
So, ultimately, there was an instance
where I just basically madelemonade out of lemons.
You know, it's just kind of like
how I roll you know,
I just try to, you know,
transmute things like into something else,
you know, and so that's wherethat nickname came from.
This painting is called King.
And basically it is a manifestation of me.
This painting is part of a collection
called 'She for the Culture'
which is sharing her evolution.
- You're an athlete as well as an artist.
What?
What sports.
- So, um, basketball is my main sport.
I was getting into track,
but unfortunately, I broke my ankle
like at the beginning of the season.
- Now home is St. Louis and Ferguson.
You lived in Ferguson for a while?
- I grew up in theNormandy School District.
So that's ironically, that's where Michael Brown
went to high school, like youknow, later on in his life.
- The unarmed black teenager
was shot by a white police officer
who says brown attacked him.
A grand jury decided
not to indict the officer Brown's death
led to months of protests
and drew attention topolice practices nationwide.
- So where were you whenall the chaos unfolded
around the death of Michael Brown.
- You know, this story is hard man.
It happened literally Iwas getting my haircut
it happened literally five minutes away
from where I was getting my haircut
at the barbershop.
I just remember
like seeing a whole bunch of like cop cars
like driving up and down Ferguson
and I remember likeleaving the barber shop
and when I got in my car, I saw this guy
with like a tank top T-shirt on
holding a cardboard sign saying like,
they just killed my son.
And so at that point,
like it was just real.
It was real at that point, like, you know,
you see the Trayvon Martin,
see the Eric Garner'sand now the Maury shot,
and you know,
George Floyd, when you'reseeing it, you know,
on TV and you seeing it on the news
and things like that.
It's so much different when it you know,
when it happens like right in front of you
like right in your backyard.
That really resonated with me a lot
and that is the catalystas to why I started
to transition from teaching
on a college level of art to painting.
- Now you go from St. Louis and Ferguson
to move to Miami,
which is where you are now.
- Yes.
- And I've heard you say,
and I'd like to get this story from you.
You make this move
and Jesus says something to you?
(mystical music)
- Well this painting is ofJesus in a time where like,
what if he was here right now?
When I moved to Miami, thisis exactly what he said.
He said, you're here for a purpose.
I put you here.
And it is going to be hard.
But you are going to get through it.
We will get through it together.
The first thing I do was, you know,
what felt right to me
was to like get baptized
pretty much everything was hard
during that time, like, youknow, graduated college.
It was really hard to find jobs.
I wanted to kind of turnmy life over to him.
During that time, you know,
like after I made that decision, you know,
I met Alejandra.
So Alejandra's my now fiance,
but she was awesome.
She is awesome and dope artist
and phenomenal artist, phenomenal woman
and very spiritual herself.
So I was asking for these things
like I wanted a spiritualwoman, I wanted to,
you know, be in a placethat made me feel free.
And I wanted to continuepursuing art full time.
- In light of all that'sgoing on in our world.
I know you just wrappedup another mural project
in your area.
In light of all that's going on,
what do you feel, right now?
- What's cool is thatthere's a bunch of people
that wanna see something positive too.
The band aid to me is my favorite,
because it's basically about taking hits
or being hurt,
having the guts to get back up.
(fun background music)
It reminds me of Groundhog Day,
like the movie, where like every day
is the same thing
and you're trying to change bits
and pieces of your day so that the outcome
is different, but theoutcome is always the same.
And for me like that'swhat it's feeling like
and I just decided simplyjust to take action.
Like I just decided totake action in a way
that felt right to me, which was like art,
you know what I mean, like, which was to create imagery
that I feel resonates with me,
and also with anybody
that sees it.
You have to manifest
what you want to see.
- As you can imagine, Mojo keeps busy.

and many more.
