- It is impossible, thata former crack addict
is all of a sudden sittingat the White House.
- [Narrator] The birth of My Pillow.
- We are turned down everywhereonce it was invented.
- [Narrator] Straight from thedrug addicted entrepreneur.
Plus two cases of COVID-19.

- [Narrator] Watch a fight for life
all on today's 700 Club Interactive.
- Oh, welcome to the show
we've been told from thebeginning of this COVID crisis
about the importance ofproperly washing our hands
and how it is the most reliable
preventative measure against infection.
- CBN Middle-East Julie Stahl Julie Stahl
looks at the Israeli innovation
that will show you justhow well you're doing
through smart hygiene.
Take a look.
- [Julie Stahl] It's called Soapy
a smart hygiene device
designed to change the waypeople wash their hands.
- So we're giving youthe right environment
to wash your hands and theright technology to do it.
We're giving you feedback
on how your hand washing practice was.
- [Julie Stahl] CEO Max Simonovsky,
helped start Soapy two years ago,
focusing on India andother developing countries.
Then word started spreading.
- We suddenly started to receive inquiries
from the developed countries like U.S.
and Canada and England.
- [Julie Stahl] The COVID-19 crisis
led to even more interestwith 136 countries
calling about the product.
- Majority of the, I would say guidelines
or advise us about how to prevent yourself
from being infected isabout hygiene, sanitation
and social distance andhand hygiene is on the top.
- This is the Soapy machine.
When I put my hands in,
it gives me just the right amount of soap
that I need and gives me 20seconds to lather my hands,
making sure I get all the right movements.
Get in between my fingers,
my nails, all the things Ineed to have clean hands.
It's monitoring how wellI've washed my hands
and how well I'm rinsing my hands.
And it gives me another20 seconds worth of water
to rinse them.
All right, here we go.
Let's see how I did.
- And you can see that we measured
how you were lathering technique
and how was your rinsing technique.
And then on the lathering,
you had 13 out of the 20seconds done perfectly.
And on the rinsing 17out of the 20 seconds
were done perfectly.
The result is 77%.
- [Julie Stahl] According to experts,
people should wash theirhands up to 12 times a day,
but most only reachabout half that number.
- Maybe 5 to 7% of peoplewashing hands properly.
Even if you take those five,
six times that you're washing your hands,
most of them will be a bad washing cycle.
- [Julie Stahl] By usingfacial recognition,
the machine assigns arandom number to each user.
Simonovsky said it doesn'tgather any information about you
other than how you wash your hands.
Then Soapy teaches youhow to do it better.
- So, you know, rightaway where you can improve
and what you need to improve
to increase that result andmake sure that your hands
will be clean every time, everywhere, every day.
- [Julie Stahl] The device is also good
for the environment,
using about 20 times less water.
- And the water is pre-heatedto the right temperature.
So we also saving on electricity.
- [Julie Stahl] Last yearbefore the COVID-19 outbreak
Forbes Magazine wrote
"By gamifying hand washing
"Soapy might just save civilization."
Currently the machine isused primarily in healthcare
schools and food preparation.
Simonovsky adds, they're workingon a product for the public
because washing just isn'tas simple as it seems.
- It's a real science.
And if you have a real science,
then you need to have atechnology to help you with that.
- [Julie Stahl] Julie Stahl,CBN news, Rehovot, Israel.
- Well, even more oninnovation coming from Israel,
it's known as startup nation.
You look at cell phonetechnology, computer technology,
agriculture, water technology,
all of these things coming out of Israel
and here, a better way to wash your hands.
- Yeah, it's impressive, isn't it?
It really is.
Well over the last few months,
millions of people have lost their jobs
all around the world.
Operation Blessing has been on the ground,
both here and abroadworking to get supplies
to those who need it the most.
- And they're only able to do that,
thanks to people like you.
So we wanted to say, "Thankyou for sharing your love."
(whooshing)- The virus
became overwhelming.(whooshing)
- [Reporter] The economy hasbeen shrinking dramatically.
- So, I'm a single motherand I need additional help.

you came to the rescueacross the United States

If you'd like to help call 1-800-700-7000
or text CBN to 71777 to give.
(upbeat music)
- You can be a part of it.
And you can be a part of all the things
that we're doing around the world,
whether that's hand washing stations
or providing food for peoplein need right here in America.
When you start thinkingof 40 million Americans
on unemployment, you understandthe magnitude of the need.
We've seen literally milesof cars waiting in line.
So, that the Operation Blessing food teams
can come along and filltheir trunk full of food
because they just don't know where to go
and how to get food.
And where do you do it?
Where do you get food whenyou don't have a paycheck?
So we wanna help them.
And we wanna help peoplein their time of need.
And if that's you, if you wanna do that,
give us a call 1-800-700-7000.
Say, "I want to giveto Operation Blessing,"
or just say, "I wanna becomea member of the 700 club."
It's just $20 a monththat's 65 cents a day.
And when tens of thousands of people say,
"Yes, we wanna do that,
"We wanna join together," awhole lot can get accomplished.
Terry.- Well coming up,
alone and on a ventilator.
An asthmatic man suffers from the effects
of COVID-19.(upbeat music)
- I wrote out my will in the car
because you know, I didn't,
I had no rational expectation of survival.
- So how did he live through the ordeal?
Find out that's next.(upbeat music)
On the way to the hospital,Dan Burke wrote out his will.
He had no reason to believe
that he'd make it back home alive.
After all Dan was asthmaticand he and his wife
had just come down with COVID-19.
- I began to have a headacheand feel a little bit weak.
And Stephanie, later that evening
began to feel poorly as well.
- [Stephanie] We werepraying we had a cold
and within three or four days,
we realized that we were not only sick,
but we were very sick.(whooshing)
- [Reporter] The World Health Organization
today declared theCoronavirus, a global pandemic.
Citing the alarming levels of spread
but also the alarming levelsof inaction in the world.
The death toll lies here in the U.S.
to at least 13 years.(whooshing)
- The pain in my chest
and the body aches were kindof out of this world for me.
And I was very concerned with Dan
because he has chronic asthma.
- My lungs were already in bad shape
and I thought I was just havingasthma issues or something.
But it turned out to be with the headache,
which then turned into fever.
We began to get a littlenervous about what was going on.
I began to use more and moreof the emergency medication
and treatment to the point
where I was using maximumdose every four hours,
more than I would normallyget, even in an ER.
And my ability to breathe was declining.
- This is where things became a battle.
Because we knew if wewent to the hospital,
Dan and I would be separated.
And we also knew that becauseof his severe conditions,
that there was a very real possibility
that he wouldn't make it.(upbeat music)
- I wrote out my will in the car
because I, you know,
I had no rational expectation of survival.
(soft music)- We were praying
in the car on the way to the hospital.
And I remember turning to Dan,
in my sorrow and saying,
"I need you to know before we get there.
"And we're separated, thatyou are the love of my life,
"And I'd love everythingabout our life together.
"And I just need you to know that."
And we both cried.
(slow music)
I just started to drive home
loneliness and darkness came over me
and I was sleeping about 16 hours a day
because I was so sick.
I had to self isolate, selfquarantine and we live alone.
So there was nobody at the house.
I heard within me, three days, three days.
We were in the middle of land.
And somehow there was aconstellation with it,
a sense that I had to wait three days.
(ventilator humming)
When I received that news,
I have to tell you that I was crushed.
I was shaking in my core.
- What I entered into was a blackness
that I'd never experienced before.
You're alone, feeling completely alone.
Because when you enterinto ICU with COVID-19,
you know, you don't see anybody's faces.
- I had great fear,but I never lost faith.
And I fought that fearand I stayed in prayer
and I didn't let it overtake me.
- I wouldn't say I had a lack of peace,
but I was in quite significant distress.
I was ready to die.
- I poured my heart outin the post and a letter.
I sent it out far and wide and I said,
"Please pray for my husband.
"He's been put on a ventilator.
"We need to send those prayers to heaven
"And pray specificallythat his lungs would heal
"That he would start to breathe on his own
"By the power of the Holy spirit."
(soft music)
I received a call fromthe nurse and she said,
"Mrs. Burke, I need to let you know
"That your husband twistedthrough his restraints
"And he's fold the ventilator out,
"He fold the tube out."
And I said, "Is he okay?"
And she said, "Yes, not only is he okay,
"He's breathing on his own."
And that was the third day.
- And that was a turning point.
(soft music)
- When I picked him up,
he was so weak.
He was using a Walker.
I was shocked at the impactthat it had on his body.
- Probably a week after being at home
before the darknessreally completely lifted.
And I could smile again.
(soft music)
The battle was so overwhelming,
like a little kid with a tiny sword
coming up against the prince of darkness.
- It's brought an urgency,
not a moment of our life, of our breath,
of our energy, of our resources
could be taken for granted or wasted.
The time is now.
This battle is verydeep and it's very dark
and it's all over the world.
And the Lord is callingus back to Himself.
(soft music)
- I think there is a messagein Dan and Stephanie's story
that really is for all of us.
And wouldn't it be awfulto go through this pandemic
and all that has been apart of it and not come out
having learned something from it?
The value of life,
the privilege of the gift of it every day,
the way that we live it,
how we treat each other.
I mean, it seems to be something
that we all need to really reflect on
and consider in our individual lives.
And this is a time for prayer,
really a time for prayer.
You know, I would hopethat you have a prayer life
on a regular basis.
That, that's a part of allof our walks with the Lord.
But right now, in a unified manner,
an opportunity for us to pray,
God, change us, change me individually,
change us as a country, change us all
just a society of people around the world.
You know, we're all in different cultures,
but the pandemic knows no particular race
or economic boundary.
I mean, it just strikes where it will.
And so, I believe it's a callof God for all of us to pray.
- Yeah, I think it's morethan just the COVID-19 crisis.
You also look at the protests
and what's happening andthat's worldwide too.
So, you have this sort ofdouble whammy, if you will.
The first one, let's all get isolated.
Let's all, you know, spend time in our homes.
But then let's havethese cell phone videos
put right in front of us,
the racial disparity,
the actions of the policethat no one can justify.
And, you look at the two punch here.
And then on top of it,
you have plagues of locusts
and we're gettingthreatened with hurricanes.
All of these things adding up,
we need to turn to God.
And let's do that together right now.
If you're a part from Him,
if you don't have that assurance,
if you don't have that still small voice,
if you don't have the peacethat passes all understanding
He's just a prayer away.
All you have to do is turn to Him.
"When you seek me,
"You will find me, when youseek me with all of your heart."
This isn't some casual thing,
this is something weshould do every single day
because His mercy is new every morning.
He wants to guide you.
He wants to direct you.
He wants to be your all in all.
All He's waiting foris your voice to call.
So let's pray and let'sturn to God, right now.
Lord, God almighty.
We just come to you.
And we say, we can't do this.
We can't find a way throughthe COVID-19 crisis.
We can't find a way to findjustice on the earth today,
but your word is true.
Your word from Isaiah 42,
you will not give a rest until justice
is established on the earth.
So Lord, we ask for libertyand justice for all.
We ask that our hearts would turn to you.
We ask that the hearts of fathers
would turn to their childrenand children to the fathers.
We ask for unity in families.
We ask for unity in our neighborhoods,
in our cities, in ourstates, in our nations.
Let us come together and love one another.
But it all begins when we turn to you.
And we love you with all of our heart,
all of our strength, all that is within us.
So Lord, we just declarebefore you that we love you.
And we thank you for life,
for breath, that allthat you have given us.
And we ask for your presenceto come into our hearts,
into our lives.
Fill us with your Holy spirit.
Take away all anxiety, all fear,
and replace it with yourlove and your forgiveness,
your righteousness, yourpeace, and your joy.
Do it now, Lord God,
for we ask it in Jesus name.
Amen and amen.
If you need a prayer, we're here for you,
24 hours a day.
We're just a phone call, 1-800-700-7000.
Still to come, a crackaddict who stayed up
for 19 days straight.
- It gave me some, you know, false courage I could be,
I felt like I could be myself.
I could be more outgoing.
I could be the talk, theperson I always wanted to be.
- Here the rise to riches
story of My Pillows, Mike Lindell,
right after this.(upbeat music)
Well, we've all seen the commercials
and Mike Lindell has sold over 30 million,
My Pillows, as a resultof those commercials.
Recently, he was thankedby president Trump
for supplying mask to healthcare workers.
He's a self made millionaire
who was once a hardcore drug addict.
- The more chaotic things got
and the more I came out theother end and could say,
"Look what I went through, that was my self worth."
- [Narrator] The chaos in Mike Lindell's
life started early.
He was seven years oldwhen his parents divorced.
- I got put into a new school
and I was the only kidfrom a divorced family.
It affected me where Ifelt like I didn't fit in.
I felt like I didn't belong.
I felt like I was kind of like an outcast.
I would show up to try and fit.
- [Narrator] But as much as Mike tried
to control his circumstances,
he was drawn to thingsthat would control him.
By the time he got to high school,
he was an alcoholic with aserious gambling addiction.
- Take instant high winning,
that appealed to me at a very young age.
I wanted to keep in control.
I always felt like it was me.
I could control the outcomes.
- [Narrator] Then at 21,it got in over his head.
Owing $25,000 dollars ingambling debt to the mob.
In a desperate move toescape the mob's reach,
Mike broke into a convenience store
and let himself get caught.
It got him into jail,
but the shame andembarrassment was overwhelming.
So when Mike was released,
his friend Dick offered him some cocaine.
- It gave me some you know, false courage, I could be,
I felt like I could be myself.
I could be more outgoing.
I could be the talk,
the person I always wanted to be
where I could be the talk of the crowd
with the cocaine I couldget there instantly
and feel like I fitted in.
- [Narrator] Again, the life of the party,
Mike started bartending.
Then he met Karen, who wasalso a functioning addict.
- And I finally got married, had the kids.
I was the biggest businessman.
One time I had three bars,
but it still wasn't enough for me.
Inside that wasn't enough.
It wasn't what I was longing for.
I didn't have this peace inside of me.
It was a chaos magnified beyond belief,
but that's where I lived.
I lived in that space.
And that's where I thought in my mind,
I'm going, "Nobody's just goodat handling all this chaos."
- [Narrator] Trying to make a living,
Mike juggled one businessventure after another.
Then one night he had a dreamthat would make him famous.
(soft music)
- I got the dream for the pillow in 2004,
invented it there and ittook her about a year.
We were turned down everywhereonce it was invented
and ended up doing home shows and fairs.
- [Narrator] But as Mike struggled
with getting his newbusiness off the ground
and his growing addiction to crack,
his marriage collapsed.
- My wife couldn't take any more.
She left in the middle of the night
and we were divorcedactually within a month.
- [Narrator] It wasthe first blow of many.
Later that fall, his son moved out
and Mike realized he haddriven his family away.
Then his old drug buddydropped in for a visit.
- And I heard he had fell inthe Lord four years earlier.
And he came in from outof nowhere and said,
"Dick, I wanna know something.
"Is it boring?"
And he goes, "No, man, it isn't boring."
And I had all these questions for him
that only he could answer.
Then on January 16, 2009, and I said,
"God, I wanna wake up in the morning
"And never have the desire again."
When I quit everythingthat night and woke up
and I was freed of all the, you know,
the desire I'm going loud, something's different.
It was like Groundhog day.
I was like, "Wow, this is different."
And I associated that with being saved.
- [Narrator] Mike quit drugs cold turkey
and sales for My Pillowfinally began to climb.
Mike's walk of faithwas a different story.
- I used to get angry
and not know why you getangry and frustrated.
And then if somebody hitmy self worth button,
Oh man, you know, it would be bad.
- [Narrator] Then he met Kendra,
a woman whose life centeredaround her faith in Christ,
something Mike struggled to understand.
- She had that personal relationship
and I could see something was different.
It wasn't just believing in God.
- [Narrator] By 2015, My Pillow
had become a national phenomenon.
And over the next two years
attracted the attention of celebrities,
including Don Imus, StephenBaldwin, and Ben Carson.
Mike finally started to understand
that God was seeking arelationship with him.
- I would use these mathematicalodds that Jesus does exist.
And then it wasn't until, you know,
things started happeningto me in the 2015, 16, 17,
that it's impossible thata former crack addict
'cause all of a suddensitting at the White House,
it's like, you know, God'ssetting these things up
and putting me in thesepositions that it's impossible.
I think God chasing meall that time and going,
I was almost there.
- [Narrator] Then in 2017,
Kendra and a friend convinced Mike
to attend a conference
led by Operation RestoredWarrior founder, Paul Lavelle.
It was there, he finallygave control of his life
over to God.
- I went in there withhope and I just said,
"God, please show me, you're real.
"Show me, you know, I wantthat personal relationship."
And, on the second dayon February 18, 2017,
I did a full surrender on my knees.
And I'm telling you, it wasthe biggest piece I ever had.
It was A Forgiving Myself,
something way back thathad been stuck in me
that I put all these woundsand filled them with Jesus,
filled him with the Holy Spirit.
- [Narrator] Thesedays, Mike is passionate
about helping others find more
than just a good night's sleep.
He wants them to find thepeace that he has in Jesus.
- Even if you don't think you're an addict
you've been through everything
and you just feel hopeless.
Well, I'm telling you,
there's nothing better than Jesus saves.
That is the hope.
That's the hope of the world.(soft music)
- He is the hope of the world.
He is your hope becausehe's the hope of the world.
He leaves the 99 to come to you.
He wants you to be withHim for all eternity.
He doesn't want youaddicted to a chemical.
He doesn't want you living in chaos.
He doesn't want any of this for you.
What does he want for you?
He wants righteousness.
He wants peace and he wants joy.
He has a plan for you.
He has a hope and a future for you.
Maybe it's not as a pillow entrepreneur,
but he's got a unique plan just for you
that only you can fulfill.
All he's waiting for youis to you to cry out,
"God, I can't do it.
"Can you help me?
"I surrender everything to you.
"Could you come?
"Could you be my savior?
"Could you be my Messiah?
"Could you be my all in all?"
And if you pray thatwith all of your heart,
you'll get the same result that Mike did.
He prayed a desperate prayerin the middle of addiction
and in the middle of craving,
woke up the next morning and it was gone.
And then he went on a great journey.
He was delivered from drugs,
but he still wasn't savedand he didn't need it.
And he needed to find out more.
If you wanna start that journey,
give us a call just say,
"I need Jesus and I need him right now."
