- Now to the latest on impeachment.
Another witness testifiedbehind closed doors
on Capitol Hill today.
- Earlier, though, PresidentTrump made headlines
by calling the inquiry a lynching.
CBN White HouseCorrespondent, Ben Kennedy,
joins us with a reactionto that comment, Ben?
- Well, John, Jenna, House Democrats
are quick to condemn Trump's tweet saying
that is one word no presidentaught to apply for himself.
- I have answered thisquestion now multiple times.
If you wanna talk (backgroundcrowd drowns out speaker)
- That question centersaround the President's tweet.
"All Republicans must rememberwhat they are witnessing here
"a lynching."
- The fact is he has beenrelentlessly-- (crowd yelling)
The fact is he has--(crowd interrupts speaker)
The fact is he has beenrelentlessly attacked
by the mainstream mediasince before he took office.
That's what the President'stalking about here.
- [Ben Kennedy] 2020rivals aren't buying it
and push back with SenatorKamala Harris writing,
"Lynching is a reprehensiblestain on this nation's history,
"as is this President."
Julian Castro added,"It is beyond shameful
"to use the word lynching to describe
"being held accountable for your actions."
- This is a political lynching.
What is a lynching?
A mob grabs somebody based on their color,
their religion, andthey destroy their life.
Nobody's saying thatthe President is going
to be physically hurthere, but this is mob rule.
That's what lynching's all about.
- [Ben] Even some Republicanlawmakers didn't quite agree
with the choice of words.
- That's not the language I would use.
It's very clear that whatthe democrats are doing here.
- [Ben] The catalystfor the infamous tweet
could have been due to the testimony
of President's actingambassador to the Ukraine.
It's Bill Taylor's turnin a revolving door
of key witnesses.
He first sounded the Ukrainianaid alarm in a text message
to the US ambassador to the EU.
Taylor wrote, "I thinkit's crazy to withhold
"security assistance for for help
"with a political campaign."
They recipient, Gordon Sondland replied,
"The President has beencrystal clear: no quid pro quos
"of any kind."
Democrats say duringclosed door testimony,
Sondland said his message was dictated
by the President himself.
- Every single one ofyour reports start with,
"Behind closed doors,"
He is not receiving due process,
we all are aware of the situation
in which Democrats are takinghim behind closed doors,
releasing selectivethings, not in context,
trying to attack anddestroy this President.
- Now the White House herebehind me continues to ask
for a full impeachment vote.
Republican lawmakershave echoed that request,
which would give them thechance to get involved
in the inquiry, ask questions, and even call witnesses.
