- It's a decision wemake to release a person
from the feelings ofanger we have at them.
- Fred Rogers grew upoutside of Pittsburgh
and he dreamed of being a minister.
He went to seminary school, and he gave people liberty
to explore something deep andvulnerable about themselves.
- I asked him to pray for me.
I figured anyone who is going through
what he is going throughmust be awfully close to God.
- He had that amazing giftof looking at a person
and seeing what that person needed
that he was gonna minister to that person.
And that person in thisparticular case was me.
- We are trying to givethe world positive ways
to deal with their feelings.
- This piece will be foran issue about heroes.
Do you consider yourself a hero?
- This movie is sort of like
an episode of Mister Rogers' for adults.
- When I think of Fred,I often think of him
in terms of what he did every morning
which was pray and think of thepeople he needed to pray for
and write to those people.
- Cecelia Sharon.
Colby Dickerson.
Thank you, God.
(dramatic cinematic music)
- His spoken message is simple,
but the message of his life is not simple
because the message of hislife is goodness in action,
goodness enacted.
- [Fred] I think the best thing we can do
is to let people know thateach one of them is precious.
