(dramatic music)
Hello and welcome to thisedition of Jerusalem Dateline,
I'm Chris Mitchell.
Israel took a rare step and released
previously classified information
about how Iran is trying to
transform Hezbollah's missile program.
The intelligence shows howdeeply Iran was involved
in a project to destroy the Jewish state.
Israel releases video to show
how Hezbollah's inaccurate missiles
could be manufacturedinto missiles capable
of striking an Israelitarget within a few yards
changing Hezbollah'smassive military inventory
into precision guided weaponswould be a game changer.
(speaks in foreign language)
- [Interpreter] We'redetermined to eliminate
this dangerous project, theaim of the publication today
is to convey that we will notsit by and allow our enemies
to arm themselves with deadlyweapons directed at us.
- [Chris] The intelligenceexplains why an Israeli drone
destroyed a key partof this missile program
just a few days ago.
One of the latestincidents raising tension
in the region to it's highest in years.
A recent example lit ashadow war involving Iran,
it's Middle East allies and Israel
is coming into the light.
- We are now seeing a situation
in which a kind of regional conflict
involving a whole series ofIranian proxies and allies
including Hezbollah, allof which threaten Israel
are basically on the brink ofwhat could be a bad misstep
for either side and could bring the region
to another conflict.
- We're challenged on three fronts
and Israel has all the right in the world
to defend itself and we will.
- Former Jerusalem mayor, Nir Barkat,
a prominent member of PrimeMinister Netanyahu's party
says Israel is fighting for it's survival.
- It's very clear thatIran, that their goal
is to destroy the state ofIsrael, the radical Islam.
They're using theirproxies in Hamas and Gaza,
Hezbollah and Lebanonand many of the regimes,
the Shi'ite regimes in Syriato create infrastructure
and to prepare to strike on Israel.
- [Chris] Recently, Netanyahutold Hezbollah leader,
Hassan Nasrallah to relax.
Barkat says that's code for be careful.
- If they start and initiatea round of violence,
Israel will make surethat violence does not pay
and they will pay a heavy, heavy price
and I think Nasrallahknows that very, very well.
- Hezbollah's deputy Leader warned Israel
to expect a calculated strike
but that he wanted to avoida new war with Israel.
These strikes, however, are not an exact science.
13 years ago, Hezbollahambushed an Israeli patrol
leading to a month long war.
And some feel a miscalculationcould once again
plunge the region into war.
Well, Iran remainsIsrael's number one enemy
but some remember a time whenIran was a western country
with relations with Israel.
Recently, we talked in ourstudio with Atour Eyvazian
who was born in Iran andremembers his homeland
was a far different country than today.
(dramatic music)
So, Atour Eyvazianthanks for being with us
here on Jerusalem Dateline.
- My pleasure.
- You have a fascinating background,
you were born in Iran, you about 13 or 14
when the Iranian Revolution happened,
tell us what it was like there in Iran
before and then right after.
Iran before revolution was a great place.
It was almost like Jerusalem, diversity was everywhere.
We were able to worship, go to church,
Jews were able toworship, go to synagogue.
We really didn't care somuch about who's Muslim,
who's Jewish, who's Christianand after revolution,
the whole world for uswas turned upside down.
People are still nice, people are still great
but the government has changed
and they divided thepeople against each other
to kind of conquer us.
It was very brutal tobe a Christian or Jew
or any minority for that matter.
- So 40 years later, nowafter the revolution,
how would you describe the Iranian people,
a picture of the Iranianpeople many people don't see.
- The Iranian people arepeaceful, loving people.
They are generous, yougo to an Iranian house
they will not let you leave hungry,
they will feed you somuch, they will be offended
if you don't eat with them.
Iranian people love the rest,Iranian people are amazing.
However, the government of Iran is evil.
They're different than what you see.
So when we hear news about the government
or what is happening, that's not Iranian people
and if you look at theirhistory for thousands of years,
Jews and Christianslived in Iran peacefully.
- Almost like two Irans, the one you see on the news
and the other Iran thatmany people don't see.
- Yes.
- So what brought you here Atour?
- So many years ago Isaw an infomercial on TV
that Rabbi Eckstein, hewas talking about Jews
from four corners of the earth
but specifically from Russiaat that time to Israel
and that just touched myheart because my grandfather
was in Russia, my dad was born in Russia
and that just kind ofsinked into my heart.
- So you're here in Israelfor the very first time,
what's your impressions?
- Oh, I love it, I feel like I'm home.
The streets are friendlytoward people like me.
I walk people talk me in Farsi,
there are a lot of people here, they talk to me in Assyrian.
We went to a shop thatwas an Armenian shop.
My background is Assyrian,Armenian and I was born in Iran,
they've been really great.
This is not my last time, though, this is my first time
but I will be back again.
- Would you say almostlike there's two Israels,
sometimes the perception people have about
what Israel would be like and the
perception,- Absolutely.
the reality is when you gethere, would you say that?
- Yeah, absolutely, what you hear
in some news media channelsis totally different
than what I see here.
People are friendly, people are outgoing,
there is a peace and you see it.
I mean, there's freedom,there's democracy.
I think this is the only place I could say
in the Middle East is almostlike the United States
because the first daywhen I was here people
were in the ocean swimmingwith their bathing suits on.
I saw all Orthodox, Jewish people walking
and I see Christianswith crosses and drivers
that are Christians or Muslim
and I sat with Muslims andChristians and Jewish people
in my trip and we had lunchesand dinners and breakfast
and it's just differentthan what you see on news.
- So what's your messageto people about Israel,
why's it so important to standwith Israel at this time?
- It is extremely important to me
and I think it shouldbe extremely important
to all Christians.
The way Bible is written,Jesus didn't come
to cancel the Torah,he came to build on it
that was his message, love your neighbor.
So Israel to me is theplace that God chose to be,
so he chose the culture,he chose the Jewish people,
so as the person that follows Christ,
I think it's my role andeverybody that believes
to be Christian is theirrole to support Israel.
This is a land of milk andhoney, so it hasn't changed,
we haven't replaced them.
- And do you see prophecybeing unfolding right now.
- I've been here for several days,
I see it with my own eyes.
So when I'm here walking, Ifeel that the Bible is alive.
- Well, it's a fascinatingstory and Atour great
that you stopped here on your first visit,
we look forward to seeing you again.
- Thank you.

- The Jerusalem PrayerBreakfast began to bring Jews
and Christians together topray for the peace of Jerusalem
and recently for the firsttime organizers sought
to make another powerful connection
by holding a prayer breakfastin the world's center
of judicial power.
- [Chris] Since the end of World War Two,
this location has beenknown as the world court
and source of international law.
That's why hundreds of Jews and Christians
met here to meet, speak and pray.
- [Chris] Some spoke abouta specific connection
between scripture inPsalms and what is going on
in the world today.
- And it's really, it'swarning to the nations.
- [Chris] Evangelidesnotes the European nations
didn't heed the warningand are facing consequences
for deliberately leaving Godout of their Constitution.
- [Chris] Bringing theJerusalem Prayer Breakfast
to the Hague is an exampleof the event's overall goal.
- The purpose is gatherbelievers, Jews and Christians
in a nation to pray, to pray and ask God
to work in their nationand then work on the hearts
of their government leadersso that their nation
turns toward Israel, to bless Israel
and turns toward Jerusalemto bless Jerusalem.
- [Chris] And organizershave seen tremendous growth
since 2017.
- Literally from Africa to Central America
to South America to Englandto the United States,
we've seen JerusalemPrayer Breakfasts spring up
and it's really in accordanceto the word of God.
Joel three, chapter one that all nations
which will make a choicewhether they be sheep nations
or goat nations and it means very clearly,
will nations bless Israel, willthey bless the Jewish people
or will they curse Israel,
will they curse the Jewish people.
- [Chris] Bachmann says theJerusalem Prayer Breakfast
has come at a unique time in history.
- We're watching miracles allacross the world right now.
That God is answering theprayers of the saints,
that each of the various nations now
open their hearts, open their minds
and open their public policyto shift to be in favor
of Israel and in recognizing Jerusalem
as Israel's eternal rightful capital.
- Film maker, Bryan Sandersproduced a special film
for the Jerusalem PrayerBreakfast at the Hague.
We talked about his filmin our studio via Skype.
(dramatic music)
Brian that was quite aJerusalem Prayer Breakfast
there at the Hague and youdid a film specifically
for that event, tell us about the film.
- It was screened lastJune, it's called the Hague
of Jerusalem and basicallythe intent was to raise
an awareness in the church about
how detrimental the Haguecan be against Israel
and what a lot of peopledon't know about the Hague is,
it's the internationalcity of peace and justice
and it's also the second highestseat in the United Nations.
Now everyday you turn on the news,
you hear all the anti-Semitism,anti-Israel hatred
in the United Nations but whatthe Hague and the two courts
that are in the Hague can bevery detrimental to Israel
more than it's big brotherheadquarters in New York City.
- So what were you trying tocommunicate through the film?
- Just as the title saysThe Hague or Jerusalem,
there's a choice that needs to be made
and it's time for the nations to decide
where they think the legalcapital of the world will be.
Former Secretary Generalof the UN, Ban Ki-moon
and King Willem of the Netherlands
and other leaders have been quoted saying
that the Hague is thelegal capital of the world.
Well, as for believers ourBibles tells us in Isaiah 2:3
that the law shall go forth out of Zion
so when you hear rumorsand other counterfeits
of what the Bible says,I think us believers
that love Israel, that arecalled to be watchmen on the wall
should be praying and standing
with our brothers and sisters in Israel.
- Brian, you were there atthe Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast
there in the Hague, tell me your impressions
of what it was like to be there itself.
- Well, you know it wastruly an honor, Chris
to be there and MicheleBachmann, former congresswoman
from Minnesota was the key note speaker.
You had other parliament members there,
ambassadors from several nations
and even Knesset members inIsrael there in attendance
and just to be able to screen our film
and basically share whatmy colleague and friend,
Jack Van der Tang who wasthe executive producer,
what he's seeing in hisown backyard in the Hague,
I believe it raised a lot of eyebrows
and opened a lot of eyesto what's really happening
and what we can be prayingfor and standing for Israel
even more in these timesthat we're living in.
- Going forward what do you see
for the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast?
- Well, it's definitelyexpanding, obviously
it originated in the city ofthe great king in Jerusalem.
They had their firstconference outside of Jerusalem
last fall in November in Orlando.
Obviously, they had one in the Hague
and there's gonna be somein London, in Europe,
other countries are stepping up to support
and stand with Israel.
So, I think in this hour, where Israel needs more friends
than ever, the body of Christ
and even our Jewish brothers and sisters
are standing together as one and praying
for the peace of Jerusalemand just that the Lord
would be glorified.
- Well, Bryan we appreciatethe work that you do
and we look forward to the next time
you're here in Jerusalem.
- Thanks again for havingme and always a blessing
to come back to the city of God.
(dramatic music)
