testifying about how theHoly Spirit transformed
their lives this weekend.
The Freedom March is set tokick off in Washington, D.C.
The march will featureworship and the sharing
of testimonies by menand women who left behind
the homosexual, bisexualand transgender lifestyle.
Jeffrey McCall used tolive as a trans woman
and is now the founderof the Freedom March,
and he joins us now to share more.
Jeffrey, thank you forbeing with us today.
- Thank you for having me.
- First of all, theHouse of Representatives
recently passed the Equality Act,
a bill that would broadenanti-discrimination protections
for LGBTQ Americans.
Do you feel like havingthe Freedom March in D.C.
at this time sends a statement?
- Yes, I do believe it sends a statement.
It really gets these stories out there.
The whole reason why Istarted the Freedom March
was because I felt like allof these stories of people
that left LGBTQ lifestylesneeded to be heard.
And it's just amazing howwe're in Washington, D.C.,
right around the time that thislegislation is taking place.
- Absolutely amazing.
Now this is the secondtime that you will hit
the nation's capital.
How has the movementchanged over the last year?
- The movement has definitelychanged over the past year.
It's just really in growth.
Last year we had people showup from all over the country
to D.C. to the first Freedom March,
and this year we have hundreds
of people showing up to the Freedom March.
So we're so excited thatthe community and the family
that it's built for peoplethat have left those lifestyles
to know there's so many others like them.
So that's really what'schanged the most about
the march this year.
- Jeffrey, what would yousay has been the impact
that this movement has had?
- This movement has createda family of overcomers
that understand and wentthrough the same things.
So it's just this close-knitChristian family of overcomers.
And I would say also, that it'sjust amazing what it's done,
because it has broughtlight to this topic,
and it's been talked aboutfrom people that actually
lived through it, so it's alittle bit harder to dismiss
stories of people thatlived these lifestyles,
and left them to follow Jesus Christ.
So that's kind of what this really brings.
- And what are your hopes forthis year's event, Jeffrey?
- My hope for this year's eventis just to continue to grow
and share these stories,
and my hope for the event isalways that people will come
to the knowledge of JesusChrist and people will see,
no matter what you wentthrough, there's hope,
there's hope at the end of everything.
So we just share Jesus withpeople and share the Gospel
and we just hope to encourageothers by sharing our stories.
- Amazing, and Jeffrey, forthose who may not be familiar
with your testimony, giveit to us in a nutshell.
- Well, I lived for yearsin a homosexual identity,
drugs and alcohol.
At the end of my life in theworld I lived transgender.
I went by the name of Scarlet.
And I had an encounter withGod and I left everything
to follow him in 2016,
and he has been everythingI ever wanted and more.
And he's been amazing and kind and good
and full of mercy to me,
so I will always shareabout what Jesus has done
to set me free from a false identity
and show me that I'm ason of God through Jesus.
- How do you minister, howdo you share with others
who are trapped in this lifestyle,
who feel like they can't be free?
- What I love to share withpeople that are in the lifestyle
that feel like they can't befree is other people's stories.
I was just talking to agentleman, literally minutes ago,
about the whole homosexuality topic.
So I just love sharingtestimonies with people
because it's real life people's stories,
and it's just so amazingto see what God's done
for other people, thathe'll do it for them too.
And that's what I share with everyone.
- And what do you say to thosewho are really struggling
with identity right now, asfar as within the church.
- Yeah, I would say thatthere's people that struggle
with their identity in church,
and that they're just like everyone else.
Just because you became aChristian and started following
Jesus Christ and acceptedhim and believed on him,
it doesn't mean you won'tever have a struggle again.
No one ever has not had a struggle again.
We all go through struggles,we all go through things,
whether we're connected withthe body of Christ or not.
So I just encourage people,no matter where you're at,
to submit everything to God andjust continue to follow him.
And if you mess up, get up and keep going.
- Great message.
Jeffrey, thank you so muchfor being with us today.
God bless you on the event this weekend.
- Thank you so much for having me.
- You're welcome.
