- Well welcome back.
We want to answer some of the
email questions you've sent in and Pat
this first one comes from Robert who says
Pat, we know that the termEaster was used for an ancient
pagan festival for thegoddess of fertility.
Why then, do so manyChristians refer to the
resurrection by using the term Easter?
Instead of Easter Sunday,
shouldn't we use resurrection Sunday?
- You know, I have to handit to her Catholic friends.
They christianized every pagan thing
they could get their hands on
and Eastre was what this was all about
and it used to be called Westerra.
And instead of Easter,
it's Eastre and that's the truth.
And there's many things that we do
that have pagan origins.
So, why do we use Easter?
Well, it seems nice but this whole idea of
eggs and bunnies, I mean, that'spagan fertility, you know-
- I always thought it stoodfor new life and Christ.
I thought that was -- What? Easter?
- Well, new life, plants, you know,
tulips and flowers and bunnies and-
- That's the Christianversion of the pagan ceremony.
But the egg, for example, the egg and dart symbol,
you know, I mean theseare two fertility symbols.
You know, in architecture, all over the place.
I saw them Bellbank but I mean,
they're a pagan fertility, having to do with sex.
So, in any event,
but yes, resurrection wouldbe nice but the truth is
we've got Easter and so
we have invested with all those wonderful
things that Terry just talked about,
It's new life and it'sthe holy resurrection
and all that stuff but, you know,
where did the term start, pagan.
Have we christianizedit? I think so, alright.
- Okay, this is mason who says,
With a new conservativemajority in the Supreme Court,
what actions are beingtaken legally to overturn
Roe verses Wade and to doaway with gay marriage?
Will the ACLJ get involved?
Is there a conservativestrategy and timing?
- Well, I'm sure it will be.
The thing of it is, you got tohave a case of lower courts.
You gotta have something.
Now the ACLU was brilliant.
Roe verses Wade was a put up job.
The plaintiff was a fraud.
The whole thing wasfraudulent, and the case
when it was finally decided, was called Blackmun Abortion
because it was so poorly done.
It rested on the Griswold case,
which had to do with privacy,
that intern had to do with
getting contraceptions in Connecticut.
You can go down the list,
but he's saying what are you gonna do.
Somebody's got to get acase or a couple of cases
that will be very persuasive.
They gotta a take it from the lower court
to have appellate court.
Then they've got to havesomething to get searcher or I
before the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court doesn't just reach down,
but with the majority,
there's a very real possibility
that they might overturn Roe.
You remember in the hearingone of the justices,
Sanitary Collins wanted to know,
will you withhold quote, settle law,
which is Roe verses Wade so itsnot going to be easy but yes
I think that sooner or laterit will be chipped away
but it will be done alittle bit at a time.
You'll have certain permissions
and then certain laws will be upheld,
and then certain other laws will be upheld
and sooner or later they'lldo away with the whole thing,
but its gonna be tough, alright.
- Okay, this is Rochelle who says,
As a teen, I had a verytraumatic event happen to me
that I never reported oreven told anyone about.
It controlled me every day - so much so
that I became depressedand attempted to suicide.
Fortunately God intervened, and I gave my life over to God
at 17. At 36, I'm still theonly Christian in my family,
and they look to me whenthey need hope and support.
A month ago, I had a quote, blast from the past come back
and remind me of what happened.
It brought back thenightmares and panic attacks
and insomnia.
I don't know how much longerI can be the strong one
for my family before I crack.
How do I deal with this?
- Well you deal everyday, you know.
You give your heart to the Lord,
and every day you rely on Him,
And that where you start.
I don't know, which I guess you got raped
when you were younger or something.
I guess that's the traumatic event.
You didn't describe it.
But I think the Lord wants us to be free,
again, from a guilty conscienceto serve the Living God.
He wants us to be free.
As far as the east(soft melody)
is from the west.
That's how far I'm goingto take your sins from you.
So He's gonna set you free.
