Experience Him

It' seems unnatural for a human being to interact with a spirit. But God invites us to interact with Him through His Spirit. His Presence is His Person. His Voice is His Presence. God wants us to experience Him like a Person. Read Transcript

(gentle music)

- The Bible doesn'treally develop the idea

of relationship explicitlywith that word, right?

It says know God, know God and be known.

But you can't know someonewithout interacting with them.

You can't really knowthem for who they are

without interacting with them.

That's one of the thingsthat gave me more confidence

that God really did want to do

things that were experientialand obvious to me,

because you can't know someonewithout direct contact.

You can know about them, right,

and knowing about them is good,

but knowing them is the whole goal,

so I think that if you're curious about

whether or not God is goingto influence you directly,

connect with you directly, don't put Him in a box

about how He's goingto do it, but believe.

If He really is a Father,

a father wants to interact with his son.

If He really wants you to know Him,

He wants to know you in a relationship.

He wants to connect with you one to one.

That's why the secretplace is so important,

because it's the place where you get to

interact with God one to one, yeah.

- You know, so it's a love relationship.

It's a passion to connect with Him

and receive that kind oflove every single day for me

as a daughter, so I relate to Him

as a daughter with a father,

telling me my identityand my value and my worth,

and then I relate to Him aslike the lover of my soul,

my husband, who's Jesus.

Because it was kind of agift that was given to me

from the Lord when I first gotsaved, before I was married,

it's something that I'll always have.

- He longs for it, and that is incredible,

that God, who made theuniverse, longs for me.

He longs for you.

- I think it's important tounderstand that the Holy Spirit

is the main access we have to Him,

because He said when I leave you,

I'm not going to leave you as an orphan.

I'm going to send someone to you.

The Holy Spirit, yourhelper, the Paraclete, right?

So I think that we shouldbe somewhat understanding

that when we interactwith the Holy Spirit,

we are interacting with Jesus, right?

Not the body of Jesus, but the same spirit,

the same person as Jesus.

So I think some people, they kind of want to

disregard the Holy Spirit, but that is our direct access,

our direct connection to God right now,

because the Holy Spirit lives in us,

so we can have an internaldialogue and relationship

with Jesus Himself rightnow, wherever we are.

You don't have to be in a worship service,

you don't have to go anywhere, He's here.

If you're a Christian, if youhave put your faith in Him

and the seed of faithhas come into your heart,

now the Spirit of God lives in your heart.

I think that understanding it as a person

is very important in the sense that

it takes almost likeimagination or openness

to realize that you can havea relationship with a spirit.

It's almost something you have to learn.

It's not natural for a human to have

a relationship with somethinginvisible, you know.

You have to learn to relate to someone

who is introducing to youfrom the invisible realm.

Now, it happens to bad people, too.

You know, people are learning to interact

with invisible wicked things,

but I really do think it's important

to understand that He is real.

He's a real person and Hehas thoughts, feelings,

emotions, and He wants to relate to you,

He wants to connect to you,and dialogue with you, right?

That's very important in my opinion.

- Jesus says man doesnot live on bread alone,

but every word that proceedsout of the mouth of the Father.

We're to live on His words.

You know, it's the logoswritten word in the Bible,

but there's a rhema wordthat comes into our spirit

of Him talking to usthrough the Holy Spirit

of things that we need topossibly fight against the enemy

because it's the onlything, as Jesus says,

it is written, it iswritten, it is written.

That's what He fought theenemy and his lies with,

and it's the only thingin our spiritual armor

which is the sword of theSpirit, the Word of God

that's an offensive weaponto fight against the enemy.

Everything else is defensive.

- A really precious thingand an important thing to me

is when you readScripture, that if the Lord

makes something pop out at you, to linger.

You know if your achievement is stronger

than your desire to knowGod is if you zoom past it.

That's what the HolySpirit challenged me on,

is if you want to know Me, you stop there.

If you want to knowScripture apart from Me,

like a Pharisee, keep reading, right?

Jesus said you look in theScripture seeking life.

You think there's life in Scripture,

but it points to Me, butyou won't come to Me.

If you stop and you ruminate on that place

where it popped out at you, where it became alive to you,

it will bring you intoa moment of interaction

with the Holy Spirit, and those are

the most precious momentsof anybody's life.
