- If you are planning on headingto the theater, our friends
at Plugged In Online bringus a family-friendly review
of the film, Nutcrackerand the Four Realms.
(energetic music)
(enchanted music)
- In the movie, The Nutcrackerand the Four Realms,
a young girl, named Clara, receives a special Christmas gift
left to her by her mom, whohas recently passed away.
The only problem is,the gift if locked tight
with no key to be found.
- Merry Christmas, Clara.
- Godfather.
- [Cheryl] Clara's godfather sends her off
on a quest for the key, which leads her into
a magical world of Four Realms.
(intense, enchanting music)
- [Godfather] Remember,Clara, nothing is as it seems.
- [Clara] Where am I?
- [Phillip] You're in theFour Realms, Princess Clara.
- It's a kingdom of snowflakes, flowers,
sweets, mechanicalamusements, and animated toys.
But it's also a worldthat's at war with itself.
There, the young girllearns two amazing truths.
For one thing, she learnsthat her mother somehow
brought to life everythingin this magical place,
using one of her inventions.
And secondly, it said thatonly Clara can find a way
to overcome a certain MotherGinger and her army of mice
to unlock peace in the Realms.
Largely based on the 1860 short story,
The Nutcracker and the MouseKing, this Disney live-action
pick is filled with magic and wonder.
And it unwraps great messagesabout working through grief
and gaining self-confidence.
There are some lightly creepy characters
in the enchanted mix, andsome Wizard of Oz-like peril,
but for those who don't mindof a few tin soldier battles,
I'll give The Nutcrackerand the Four Realms
a festive four-and-a-halfwinter wonderlands out of five
for family-friendliness.
