We've got email.
Time to bring it on.
It is--
Okay.
Looks like a long one.
This first one
comes from a viewer
who says, "I have been a
Christian for 41 years.
I have spent countless
hours serving
and have invested
thousands of dollars
into different ministries.
Yet, I do not have
'life more abundantly.'
Rather, my life has been one big
disappointment after another,
and I am still worrying
about where my next dollar is
going to come from.
Because of this, I am
having a crisis of faith.
I know I am here to serve God,
and not the other way around,
but I simply do not see His
'faithfulness' in my life.
I am old and tired of
working so hard for nothing.
Please explain before
I give up on God."
Please don't give up on God.
Please look at
the Old Testament,
look at the New
Testament, and look
at very dedicated
servants of God
who fell into very hard times.
When you look at the
life of Jeremiah,
where here he is, chosen
by God, given God's word--
His word's burned in his
body, burned into his bones--
and he couldn't help
but speak the words
that God was giving him.
And because he did
that with boldness,
he was thrown into a pit.
And no one listened to him.
Even the high priests--
the priests of the temple--
struck him and beat him.
The king set his
face against him.
You look at all of that--
no one believed him.
And then, even after his
prophecies were fulfilled,
the remnant in the
land didn't believe him
and didn't leave him there.
They took him off to Egypt even
when he said don't do this.
So Elijah-- great
prophet of God--
went after the prophets of Baal,
had fire come down from heaven,
and then had to
run away and hide.
So these things can happen.
The apostle Paul--
New Testament-- how many
times was he shipwrecked?
How many times was he beaten?
How many times was
he put in prison?
You know, there is a
cost to following Jesus.
And are we prepared
to pay that cost?
Now, at the same time, there's
these wonderful promises.
And I preach the
promises of God--
that blessing and
prosperity will be yours.
These are the things
that those who fear God--
so I would hold onto that
promise and say, Lord,
what do you want me to do?
What is the way you
want me to walk in?
Don't just blame him
for the bad things.
Say, OK, here are
the bad things.
Show me the good things that
you want me to walk into.
Pray that and see what happens.
There is also a choice
made there, don't you think?
Paul said, count it all joy.
GORDON ROBERTSON: Yeah.
I mean, at some point--
In everything, give thanks,
for this is the will of God.
So how do you get there?
Through the Holy Spirit.
And praise.
And I'll be the
first to confess,
I've really had to learn
lessons from the complaining
in the wilderness.
You know, let's stop that.
Let's stop that.
All right.
Well, that's one question.
It was a long question,
and now a long answer.
But it deserved a long answer,
because I think a lot of people
go through that.
And when you go through
tough times with God in life,
you know, you've got to
realize He is the source--
the way out of it.
He's not the cause of it.
