Baby City's grandparents took her in the day

after she was born.

I thought how could my son and his wife get a divorce

and leave their daughter just like that.

What they didn't realize was just how difficult

it would be to raise a child with a cleft palate.

Now at age 2 and 1/2, even City seemed to sense something

was wrong.

City often looks at herself.

When she cries, I ask her why?

And she points to her lip.

Once, I heard some people say she looks like a vampire.

Then they learned about CBN's free cleft palate surgeries.

They took City for a pre-operation checkup.

But the news was not good.

She had tuberculosis and was malnourished.

I was crying when I heard she couldn't be operated if she

is not healed from her TB.

So CBN provided City with TB medicines, supplements,

and milk.

Finally, she gained enough weight to undergo surgery.

Today, City has a healthy three-year-old who

can't wait to go to preschool.

Our neighbors say she is very pretty.

That makes me so happy.
