Time to bring it on with
your email questions.
And Pat, this first
one comes from a viewer
who says, how does one know what
purpose God has for his life?
Oh, I think it's a
progressive revelation.
It's not something you're
going to learn all at one time.
But I believe God is
not going to put you
into something that you
have not been formed to do.
There won't be
some radical shift.
He said, what is your purpose?
Well, what do you like to do?
What makes you comfortable?
What is the dream in your heart?
What is there?
And it's the fulfillment
of that which
is ultimately the purpose
God will have for you.
And I've found in my life
that God has given me
certain skills and abilities.
And it's just-- with me, certain
things, it's just easy to do.
Because that's just
the way God made me.
And so I can do certain
things, and I do more,
and more, and more of them.
But other-- but that becomes
what your purpose is.
Then you can do fasting,
and you can do prayer,
and you can get well
through the Bible.
And spend time asking
him for direction,
and he'll give it to you.
But He'll say-- He said,
you'll hear a voice in your ear
when you turn to the
right or the left saying,
this is the way.
Walk in it.
Another thing is-- the Apostle
Paul said, let the peace of God
be an umpire in your heart.
And so, as long as
the peace is there,
you'll kind of know you're
going down the right way.
And when the peace lifts,
you can say, whoops.
I better have a
course correction.
But it's trial and error.
You're walking down the road,
you're looking at the Lord,
and you're asking
him to lead you.
That's what it amounts to.
You know, I always
enjoy in your book Shout
it from the Housetops
how you share.
I mean, you didn't have
vision for the whole,
as you look back to our life,
of what God was calling you to.
It happened one
project at a time.
One at a time.
And each thing led to another.
And then it gets
you in a position
so you can go to another, and
then another, and another.
And before long, what seemed
to be absolutely impossible
becomes easy.
I mean, it's just the way it is.
OK, this is Tristan,
who says, the Bible
says heaven and
earth will pass away,
and there will be a
new heaven and earth.
Are we going to relive
in this new earth
after the second
coming of Jesus--
or after all Bible
prophecy is fulfilled?
Will we be in heaven
for some time,
and then go to a new
earth again to live?
There was a thief on
the cross with Jesus.
And he said-- the thief
said, Lord, remember me when
you come into your kingdom.
And Jesus said, this day,
you'll be with me in paradise.
So there is some sort
of an intermediate place
called paradise where the
righteous dead go and wait.
And then, at the final
culmination of things,
we're going to be given
new bodies to go along
with the spirit that is there.
And we will be clothed
with a new body.
Then the Bible
says, God is going
to make a new heaven
and a new earth.
And so, I guess the creation
is going to be changed
so there won't be
any more decay,
there won't be any
more death, there
won't be any more suffering.
And that'll happen at the
end, at the Great White Throne
when God makes everything new.
But that's the way
it'll work, OK?
This is Mandy who says, Dear
Pat, if you belong to a church,
you're usually
confirmed or baptized.
Is it necessary to do that in
order to get into heaven one
day?
No, I don't think so.
I think you get into
heaven on account of faith.
You're saved by faith
and not by works,
lest any man should boast.
So one of the acts of obedience,
once you've come to the Lord,
is to be baptized.
But you don't have to go
through some ritual of a church
in order to get to heaven.
Heaven is there for
those who believe.
Well, I guess that's all.
That's it for today.
Thank you.
Thank you for those questions.
We leave you with today's Power
Minute from Proverbs, quote,
"The blessing of the
Lord makes one rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it."
