It's time to bring it on
with your email questions.
And we're going to start
with this one from Mark.
He says, "I enjoy
having a cigar, pipe,
or cigarette on occasion.
It's not an addiction,
just a pleasure.
Is this wrong?"
Mark, the Bible says
whatever's not of faith is sin.
But here's what Paul said.
He said, look.
If meat makes my
brother to offend,
I'll eat no meat while
the world stands.
Now, let's assume somebody's
addicted to tobacco.
And you're a Christian.
And you say, well, look.
I'm gonna light up
a cigar, or I think
I'm gonna have a cigarette.
And for you, it's not a sin.
But that person,
it might be a sin.
And it might get them into
lung cancer and destroy them.
And they will do something
because of your example.
So that's what the Paul said.
Meat is OK.
It's nothing wrong
with eating meat.
But if meat causes my brothers
to offend, I'll eat no meat.
I'll refrain from something
that's lawful for me
lest I hurt somebody else.
That's the standard
for all of us.
All right.
OK.
Roger says, "What is
the unpardonable sin,
and how will I know
if I've committed it?"
Roger, the only
real unpardonable sin
is the sin of refusing to
accept the grace of God
and the forgiveness
that Jesus offers.
I've gone into great length
about the unpardonable sin,
and the blasphemy against
the spirit, and so forth.
And when it's all said and done,
the Bible is filled with grace.
Filled with forgiveness,
filled with the offer of God
to hold that forgiveness.
The only unpardonable
one is the sin that says,
I reject the ruling
of the Holy Spirit.
I will not receive you, I will
not accept Jesus as savior,
I'll have nothing
to do with him.
And there is no
salvation if you do that.
All right.
Darlene says, "How can I help a
friend who I know is on cocaine
but who refuses to admit it?
I'm very worried about her."
--[LAUGHS] I tell you, a
hop-head, coke addict,
whatever, they're the biggest
liars you have ever seen
in your life.
They'll lie, They'll obfuscate,
they'll hide, they'll lie,
they'll fake drug tests.
I mean, you name it.
They are most adroit
liars you have ever seen.
Now, if you really
want to help them,
I think they've got what
is called a confrontation.
And you have a group of people
who really love this person.
An intervention.
An, excuse me, an intervention.
You got the right name.
I was searching for the answer.
Yeah, the intervention.
And you sit them down and
say, look, here's the deal.
We know you're on coke and we
know it's going to destroy you,
and here's the deal.
And see if they won't
admit it and confess it.
And then you pray together.
But it'll take some doing.
It takes an anointing
of the Lord.
But the intervention like
this is some way of helping.
And your friend might not like
it, but that's tough luck.
You're actually
saving their life.
All right, here's
this from Sarah.
She says, "My church
is not growing.
Instead it looks
like it's dying.
The pastor doesn't seem to
see that there's a problem,
and he's not good at taking
other people's ideas.
There are no men in my
church-- just women and youth.
I want to grow spiritually and
other church members do, too.
What should we do?"
Look.
It is the biggest folly in
the world trying to change
something you can't.
The Bible says, don't put
new wine into old skins.
And you obviously
got an old skin.
And new wine will
cause the skin to burst
and you'll lose everything.
Much better, form
your own church
with a group of
like-minded people.
Or go someplace where they're
fresh and open to new ideas
and they're growing.
There's so many
wonderful congregations,
why would you put up with
a situation like that?
You don't have to, so move.
Good word.
Move! [LAUGHS]
Move.
All right.
Bev says, "I'm a
60-year-old widow.
I lost my beloved
47-year-old husband to cancer
in November of 2012.
Afterwards, the only
job I was able to get
was a part-time job
at a local store.
Recently the store introduced
Voodoo Doll Key Chains--
'each with its own
special powers.'
I thought about refusing
to wait on a customer who
was purchasing them and just
ask a co-worker to do it,
but I do need the job.
Any suggestions?"
Am I making too
much out of this?
No, you're not.
You know, God can
give you another job.
There are many jobs.
There are people looking
for good employees, who
are people who are intelligent
and hardworking and loyal
and all the rest of it.
You don't have to
put up with it.
You don't want to
give your heart over
to voodoo or magic arts.
If they're doing a voodoo
doll, the next thing
you know they'll be having
little dollies you put pins in
and bring down curses on them.
You never know what's next.
Why should you have to do that?
I mean, God can give you a job.
I know it'll be painful,
but God can give you a job.
And hone your skills
before you jump.
Make sure you got
everything in order.
And possibly you can line up a
job before you quit that one.
Well, we leave you with
Today's Power Minute from John.
It says this.
"Then you will know
the truth and the truth
will set you free."
That's all the time we've got.
For Wendy and all of us,
this is Pat Robertson,
and we will see you tomorrow.
Bye-bye.
