CBN.com - Michael and Renee Savino worked hard to make their three Edible Arrangement franchises a success. They say it’s not just about hard work though. They believe that generosity leads to prosperity.
But several years ago, Michael had a good job as a restaurant manager and had a very different view of giving.
Mike says “No one really explained to me the law of reciprocity or tithing, giving 10% to God. I just thought you threw whatever was in your pocket into the bucket when it came by.”
Renee was taught the importance of tithing as a child, but she knew there was no point in arguing with Michael about it.
“You can’t force somebody to do something they don’t want to do. So I let it go and just gave what I could and hoped that God would change him.
Mike says he knew that Renee was tithing and he knew she was praying for him.
Eventually, the couple had two children and Mike’s job was still going well. That’s when he heard a message that changed his heart. Mike says, “I’d never heard a sermon exclusively on tithing and I think that’s when I realized that if you are not doing it, you are sort of robbing God.”
Not only did Mike and Renee tithe to their church, they became CBN partners too. Mike loves that CBN is always on the scene quickly after natural disasters. Renee sees the work CBN does around the globe that she could never accomplish on her own.
Over the next several years, Michael received several promotions and salary increases. Then, suddenly, after 13 years of service, Mike was given notice.
Renee was perplexed, but Mike says “I can’t really explain it, but I had a peace that it was going to work out somehow.
So Mike went on unemployment and the couple cut expenses. But one thing they refused to cut was their giving. It was Mike’s decision. “I still wanted to remain faithful to God because I felt that He had been faithful to me.”
As Michael and Renee prayed about their future, they say that God led them to take out a loan and buy an Edible Arrangement franchise. Despite an unstable economy, they both believed that God will bring you through no matter what condition the economy is in.
Mike says, “The store took off right out of the gate, and we started generating income almost immediately.”
Renee says that as they grew, they gave more.
With three successful franchises today, Mike and Renee give all the credit to God.
“We had faith that God was leading us. We asked for wisdom, we asked for direction, and our prayers were answered,” says Mike.
Renee adds “The law of reciprocity is true. There is no better investment than to invest in the Lord.”
Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference for Michael and Renee.
