Twitter Shaping Debate on Common Core Standards?
12-31-1969
A new digital reporting project shows that Twitter may be significantly affecting the national debate on the Common Core education standards.
Reporter/Anchor Mark Martin spoke with Dr. Jonathan Supovitz, professor of education policy at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, about an analysis of nearly 200,000 tweets on Common Core and how they shaped the debate.
Supovitz talks about the creation of an "activist public" made up of people who are not necessarily funded, but very well organized and leveraging the power of social media to make their voice heard.
