CBNNews.com - China's tainted dairy products continue to concern consumers.

Thousands of Chinese parents are lining up outside of hospitals, concerned for the safety of their babies. More than 6,000 have been sick, and several have died after drinking contaminated formula.

"I felt very anxious as soon as I heard the horrible news. I was afraid for our baby so we took her to hospital immediately," said one concerned mom.

The formula contained the chemical melamine, which makes foods appear to have more protein, but is harmful to humans.

Twenty two prominent Chinese dairy companies have levels of melamine in their products, including Sanlu Dairy, the largest producer of powdered formula.

Many parents don't know what to feed their babies.

One mother said, "I worry about the safety of milk powder. Sanlu is a famous brand in China, but melamine is found in its products. I am not feeding my baby any formula now."

"Now I'm just buying foreign brands for my baby," said one father. "I've already been to two other stores to find a good brand."

Authorities have arrested several people involved in the scandal, and have offered free medical care for all babies who drank the tainted formula. But parents are still angry.

"I can't understand why our government allows food be sold in the market without inspection?" said one angry mother. "Food should be strictly inspected!"

The Chinese government has increased its product testing to ensure this doesn't happen again, but for many Chinese families, this change comes too late.
