Turning Point Media Relations
CBN.com NASHVILLE Following its June 30 release, the self-titled Spring Hill Music debut from one of today’s most acclaimed vocalists, Jason Crabb, debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, according to the publication’s July 18 issue. Jason Crabb also debuted at #1 on Nielsen SoundScan’s Southern Gospel albums chart. Such noteworthy release week sales catapulted the project to #62 on The Billboard 200 albums chart as well.
In addition to his solo debut, Crabb is highlighted on the newly released The Best of The Crabb Family DVD (Gaither Music Group), which was the top-selling Christian music DVD last week and debuted at #7 on Billboard’s Top Music Video sales chart.
“Spring Hill is thrilled to see the early success of Jason’s first release,” stated Paul Sizelove, vice president of Spring Hill Music Group. “We see him winning on multiple fronts — at retail through independent CBA stores and chain stores, as well as through mainstream accounts and direct TV response. Not only did the numbers exceed expectations, but they remind us of the way Jason connects with people. Jason recorded this project with his audiences in mind, so to see them respond to him in this way is fulfilling.”
Jason Crabb was produced by Tommy Sims (Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith), Norro Wilson (Kenny Chesney, Reba) and Crabb. The 12-song set also features guest appearances from Vince Gill, Sonya Isaacs and the Gaither Vocal Band.
In addition to top sales, the album is garnering rave reviews. ChristianMusicToday.com gave Jason Crabb four out of five stars, calling him a “brilliant artist,” while GospelMusicChannel.com says, “With this solo debut, Crabb stands firmly on his own… There is no question this man was born to sing. And this album bears the proof.”
Crabb recently made multiple appearances at the 2009 CMA Music Fest in Nashville, which has grown to attract nearly 200,000 fans from around the world. He was also recently interviewed by CNN Radio and is currently the subject of exclusive video features at www.gospelmusicchannel.com and www.breathecast.com.
Jason Crabb is best known as the powerhouse lead vocalist for one of Southern Gospel’s most acclaimed and awarded groups, The Crabb Family. In addition to 10 Dove Awards and three GRAMMY™ nominations with his family, Crabb has performed on the Grand Ole Opry, at the final Billy Graham Crusade in New York, and has sung with the legendary Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, among many other diverse and prestigious opportunities.
