CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency service, says paramedics were kept busy during the Yom Kippur fast.
One hundred seventy-six children required emergency treatment for accidents on bicycles, skateboards and roller blades, while 55 people were injured in car accidents in the afternoon before the High Holy Day began.
Children traditionally take advantage of the vehicle-free streets during Yom Kippur, often while their parents and older siblings are in synagogue.
During the fast, MDA transported 120 pregnant mothers to hospitals to give birth, with one mother in Ramat Hasharon outside of Tel Aviv delivered her newborn at home.
