Voting for President Begins in Ohio

CBNNews.com - Voters have already started casting their ballots for president in the key swing state of Ohio.
And for one week, Ohioans will be able to register and vote all at once.
The Buckeye State is critical to John McCain's hopes for a victory in the electoral college. Ohio tipped the scales to President Bush's victory four years ago, and Republicans are hoping for a repeat of that election. Twenty electoral votes are at stake and perhaps, even the presidency itself.
Barack Obama's campaign has been working hard to boost turnout among his core supporters. But an organizer for one independent group says so far, response has been mediocre, though he hopes it will pick up.
The early voting Republican lawyers are concerned about voter fraud and are monitoring the get-out-the-vote efforts.
Many of those who did vote today said convenience was the main reason they voted early.
"I wanted to avoid the traffic and the people," said Charlene Glass of Cleveland Heights.
"I have a lot on my plate. I wanted to do this early," said Terri Bell of Dayton.
Hillary Rodham Clinton badly defeated Obama in Ohio during the Democratic primary - something the Obama campaign has not forgotten. They are following the lead of state officials who have campaigned in Republican areas of the state to narrow the GOP gap.
